Tonka Town
I am not happy with this. I had big hopes for this as a tilt-shift miniature, but I don't think it looks that much more miniature than the original ultrawide shot in the comments. I might try it again with a slightly longer lens?
I got this idea when I looked at the demolition/building site outside my office window yesterday, but I only had an 85mm lens and couldn't get anything in. So I took my 14mm today and shot a few shots. I have to say I love that lens. Being manual, it makes you work, but it is very sharp and gives just excellent image quality.
It has been weird seeing a row of terraced houses, like the ones in the distance, being demolished to make way for a new research institute. The digger drivers are very skillful and I have spent a few spare moments watching them smashing up walls and breaking up concrete foundation blocks, usually when our building shudders particularly violently!
Evidently a lot of building work is going on in London! Look at all the cranes. In the distance you may just be able to make out canary wharf and the gherkin buildings, but they are mostly lost in the haze (and added blur).
Anyway, enough waffling, now to sleep! Long weekend this weekend because of some crazy religious festival. Roll on 5-ish tomorrow!
