I gave up the silly silver metal thimble pretty early on as I'm a 6 footer and NO thimble forged fits my looong finger; so, necessity being the mother, I found that cutting the finger off a Rubbermaid glove is a PERFECT gripper thimble --but the BIG root embrdy kicked my rubber grippers a**. I just bought 5 PAIRS in response. Bring it on. heh heh. And there's a thimble tutorial at freedomofstitch.com if ya wanna achieve better grip and control. (P.S. SCORE! the dollar store has rub'maid gloves for ONE dolla!! I got me 10 pairs to battle the Rooty bee-yotch! Stitchy smack down!)
The story of Izzy. I recently saw an AT doll at a BJD expo and was surprised by her tiny size. She was so cute, and reminded me of something I'd have loved to play with as a kid. Shoot, she actually reminded me of ME as a kid LOL it was that skinny little body ;) so i took the plunge being it's a local company. YAY for the Win!

Steel lined between two layers of solid silver. It has the makers mark for Charles Horner and is also marked # 5 - DORCAS'
CONDITION
Good used condition consistent with normal use (see images). There is no damage or dents and has no holes.

Chester, Illinois is the home of Popeye creator Elzie Crisler Segar, and there is no way you'll leave town without that piece of knowledge. It seems like every public space in Chester has Popeye, Olive Oyl, Brutus, or some other Thimble Theatre character. And there were a lot of characters! I'd never heard of a large number of them.
The Thimble Islands is an archipelago consisting of small islands in Long Island Sound, located in and around the harbor of Stony Creek in the southeast corner of Branford, Connecticut.
I couldn't get the outdoor photo I'd planned today, so took this instead. It's inspired by Sheila's beautiful photo yesterday. Do you think this thimble is the same as yours, Sheila? It's inscribed with the date 1899.
We've had a bit of warm weather and things are starting to look a little like spring around here.

Only a 31 mile range left when we reached this overlook. We had only driven 9 miles from the bottom of the mountain up to this overlook, yet our mile range had dropped 58 miles. Elevation is 5160 feet - a gain of 2,308 feet elevaton. It was time to stop, enjoy the scenery, eat our picnic, and ignore any range anxiety I might have been feeling.
