Macro Mondays theme : Ceramic
This little ceramic thimble comes directly from Amsterdam. I bought it as a souvenir while I was visiting, a few years back. It is 1” tall and it features one of the famous Windmills in Holland. Holland is such a beautiful country!
Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

This is a "Nisse" picture of a Tompte sat in a thimble and is a shot straight out of the camera other than a crop ! Our little Tonttu character seems sew happy in his little home - hope he does not get the needle if someone tries to put the thimble on a finger !! Innocent tiny creatures but so liable to being stitched up !!
A nisse (Danish: [ˈne̝sə], Norwegian: [ˈnɪ̂sːə]), tomte (Swedish: [ˈtɔ̂mːtɛ]), tomtenisse, or tonttu (Finnish: [ˈtontːu]) is a mythological creature from Nordic folklore today typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season. They are generally described as being short, having a long white beard, and wearing a conical or knit cap in gray, red or some other bright colour. They often have an appearance somewhat similar to that of a garden gnome.
These are rubber finger thimbles shaped of Haniwa.
I usually keep them on my desk in the office, but I brought them home to take photo for this weeks theme. I like them because they're cute, but difficult to use.
The hight is 4cm, the part shown in the photo is 2cm.
Haniwa are clay figures in the shape of men, women They were made for ritual use and buried with the dead as funerary objects during the Tumulus period.

A rusty thimble – the only thing I have from my great-grandfather, a farmer who could sew.
HMM!
Five from the cabinet. The silver one was an 21st birthday present, imagine that nowadays! Incidentally it's never been worn as it's too small. The china ones were presents from the children the others just arrived. The smallest one is child-sized.

At the charity sale I found this lovely thimble among old sewing tools in an old box... there were also old embroidery scissors in the same box...
