Chaos Theory: mangoes, grapefruits, oranges, biscuity malt, orange zest caramel and hop bitterness

Pics i found on my comp that i stole from the net around 10 years ago...thought i would share, some nice oldies.

Dominos are a continued exploration on the nature of chaos theory. I began exploring the butterfly effect through "Domino" in a response to an argument with a colleague of mine whom claimed that the only art relevant to the human condition was pure splattered expressionism. I could not disagree more being a practitioner of the Japanese form of Zen painting, Youfuga, which is a moving meditation performed in accord with ones breath.

Meditation is not "an escape from the world" but rather a way to prepare for re-entry. When a practitioner enters "isolation", they aren't entering by themselves, they're taking the whole world with them, the suffering they carry is the whole world's suffering. I find the butterfly effect to be an expression of oneness, a reality where everything is relevent and everything reflects everything else.

These dominos were painted utilyzing a plastic butterfly which was found among the many groundscores cleaning-up after the 10,000 Lakes Festival located in Minesota. The butterflies were then expressively thrown in a chaotic fashion at a sheet of paper followed by a controlled splatter and then chopped up to give the illusion of seperate paintings.

Multimedia Installation

Randy & Berenicci present a retrospective of their critically acclaimed video and installation works spanning the last two and a half decades of the 20th century that focuses on the concepts of catastrophe, ritual and rebirth. This will be the first compilation of an extraordinary body of work to be presented in the city in which it was created.

RANDY & BERENICCI / Randy Gledhill (Vancouver) & Berenicci Hershorn (Toronto) have, in an oeuvre spanning 30 years, produced a unique, evolving body of site-specific and time-based art (performance, installation, video, public sculpture). They have produced and presented both their solo and collaborative art internationally with an extensive history of recognition in art venues around the world. They are pioneers of a style of work that combines sensitive and playful references to site with visionary metaphors.

Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist.

He is best known for his theory of relativity and specifically mass-energy equivalence, E = mc2. Einstein received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect."

The students in the Color Theory course with John and Julia McMorrough present all the work developed during the semester and gather around to eat colorful food and have a great conversation.

Gary Becker speaks with students and presenters during the 2013 Price Theory Summer Camp. The summer event was created to introduce PhD students from outside the University of Chicago to price theory, which emphasizes the application of basic economic tools to problems.

During this intensive one-week program, students hear lectures from UChicago price theory faculty and experience a series of “Chicago-style” seminars where faculty present their research in progress. Participants also work on problem sets in workshops and have opportunities to discuss their own work with some of the world's leading economists.

The program is geared toward PhD students in economics who have completed their third or fourth year of study, but applications are accepted from doctoral candidates of all levels.
