Hey! The sun's rays are Bright and White at A. So the Photographer, P, waits.
Going Down, at D, the setting Sun darkens and reddens. Whilst the sunset is deep and glorious, this was not the Magic Hour.
Dusk is when the sun has gone to E. Eeh, it's cold and grey.
See, in the late late afternoon, at C, the sun is both bright and warm. See, the light reflects from the subject, S, in a warm wonder. This is the Magic Hour.
Here's the science bit. It's all to do with luxuriant thickness of the atmosphere. At B, say, the lengthened ray is not in play - (Earth's surrounding air is a filter that moderates the colour, but only when it's thickness is sufficient), and, even though a hill, H, gets in the way, there is no way we can say that this is the Golden Hour.
So, select shots where the sunny light is warm and glowing, C?
I've been told that everything taste better when mixed and baked in Pyrex.
I guess I'll find out soon.

Loved shooting the awesome Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Nikon Cameras! It was a bit tough sometimes to achieve optimum focus at F1.4 due to the shallow depth of field, but hey--not every eyelash has to be perfectly sharp! I could do it if I and the model were perfectly still, or F1.8 or F2.0 did the trick too. Kept switching it up! We had fun and she loves the photos! :)

The blue-eyed goddess was modeling the gold 45 revolver gold'n'virtue bikini with the famous golden gun/colt 45 revolver from my favorite film--Sergio Leone's and Clint Eastwood's "Fistful of Dollars!"
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)
She was tall, thin, fit, toned, defined, and beautiful!

• 430ex II on 1/8 power behind, through a grid spot.
While I hadn’t seen or heard Rev Theory before photographing them supporting Black Label Society, I had a good feeling. That hunch was more than fulfilled by a hugely entertaining performance by the band. Even with dim lighting, the band – with the help of some super-fast f/1.4 primes – delivered great images.
