5-star hotel in Dubai just beside Dubai Mall and Burj Al Khalifa
This magnificent building has 63 stories and stands over 300 meters high.
Dubai Fountains seen from the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa at night. Unbelievably, there is an even higher observation deck on the 148th floor of this building but there is not as big a gap in the glass to poke a camera through. Also worth noting, this, is one of the only observation decks, I have been to, where it is OK to use a tripod!
This is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world located in Dubai, UAE. The light blue water is a man made stream and pond around the shopping area near the tower, and the dark blue water is the pool of my hotel. Oh, yeah, this is the view from my balcony! Too bad the only time I got to spend on it was the time it took to take this shot. It is amazing how this building dwarfs everything else around it.

Under refurbishment - The building bedecked in white tarpaulin is "The Address" in Dubai, which caught fire during a firework display on New Year's Eve 2015. The building had been covered in cladding believed to be similar to that used in Grenfell Tower in London. Although the 63 storey skyscraper was engulfed in flames, after a fire thought to have started around the 20th floor took hold, miraculously no lives were lost.
View of the Burj Downtown, Business Bay and Sheikh Zayed Road skyline at the end of a lovely Friday, 24th May 2013. It was my utter pleasure to accompany Dubai's photo-posse; Daniel Cheong, Karim Nafatni aka Gost Ridr and the visiting superstar photographer, Elia Locardi, the man behind the famous Blamethemonkey.com. Great afternoon + great guys + new location = great shots.
This panorama was assembled from 5 vertically oriented HDR photographs. Each of those was assembled from 7 separate, bracketed exposures ranging from -3EV through +3EV, 1-stop apart. 7-stop HDR provided the necessary dynamic range to capture all tones in this image from the darkest to the lightest ones without any shadow clipping or highlight burnouts. In total, 35 photographs were needed to produce the end result.
I used Canon 5D Mk2 and Canon 50mm f1.2L which is an outstanding piece of glass, producing razor sharp images with minimal distortion and chromatic aberration. Superb specs make the 50mm f1.2L a perfect choice for this type of panorama. Promote Remote Control was used for exposure bracketing.
Horizontal resolution of this panorama exceeds 14,000 pixels. Very large format print is bound to look exceptionally sharp.
Throughout the workflow, I've maintained 16-bits per colour workspace and this allowed the subtle orange tones in the sky to be rendered without any banding or dithering.
This is the view from my balcony; not feeling very inspired for today's shot, so I'll show you what I look out to from home! The tall building is called "The Address" and its a hotel overlooking the Dubai Fountain. At the lower right, Dubail Mall, and out of the picture to the left, you would be able to see Burj Dubai (no point though, as the lights are not yet on).
Explored.

As I walked around, snapping, darkness fell - but luck also left me: my 'proper' camera ran out of battery :(
Thank God for mobile phones - a handheld, blurry and noisy (or is it?) snap of another impressive building. Sony Ericsson rulez!
Update: Badly damaged by fire on NY eve 2015-16, minutes before NY fireworks across at the Burj Khalifa. Thank God no casualties, but the building may be hard to restore...
