I was using iron-on binding because sewing it alone was just not cutting the rug, so to speak. But the corners were still getting all unruly, so I cut these little pieces and ironed them on. Now it stays all beautiful and crisp.
This is the Badlands Justice rug and it's about 3x as heavy as my other rugs, so it needed some extra binding for exhibit.
Textiles Unit. Brief: On the Sea Shore
This picture shows a detail from an A2 handmade felt piece. From my developmental work experimenting with different textiles, I enjoyed making felt the most and I thought it best translated my interpretation of the brief. I have machine stitched detail into the felt and also added beads and wool to create the shell shapes and the water and seaweed effects.
This piece was chosen for display in Chelmsford Cathedral to represent our school, along with some of my prints.
