The distinctive line-like appearance and texture of Lao silk sets it apart from other varieties of silk. Handmade and naturally dyed, its gentle strength speaks of the people who produce it.
Handmade silk production is a labor-intensive task that requires a high level of expertise and diligence from the artisan. Each step - from the growing of mulberry saplings, the feeding of worms, the reeling of silk, to the weaving of cloth - requires time and skill. Your purchase helps to keep this traditional Lao art alive by providing women and men with training, resources and a sustainable livelihood.

The rich heritage of Jaipur's art and crafts dates back to the times of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. When he was building the city in the eighteenth century, he invited artisans from different parts of the country to come and make this city their home. He made special arrangements for their work and stay here, which attracted many craftsmen to this Pink City. The high level of craftsmanship that existed during those days can still be found in the colorful shops of Jaipur.
