The Spirit of Memphis Quartette (called the plural "Spirits of Memphis Quartette" here) were a big gospel group. Formed in 1930 by James Darling, A.C. Harris, Forrest Terrel, and Arthur Wright. Added more members and dropped the "Quartette"/"Quartet" part of their name at some later point. First recording released in 1949. Other members were Early Malone, Jethroe "Jet" Bledsoe, Theo Wade, James Darling, Robert Reed, the Reverend Robert Crenshaw, Silas Steele, and William "Little Ax" Brodnax.

Learned Chinese calligraphy since I was 6 and stopped practicing around 13. Had a proper stone stamp back then, now it was locked in some box and on the shelf of the garage back home. This is a simple machine made stamp, a present from Garrick last summer. Still vividly remember that day I show him and Luke around the old town in Harbin city. We were on motorbikes looking for old buildings that appeared in Li ZhenSheng's photos, trying to do the old and new project.
Hmm....Kind of failed, never bothered to finish it :( shame.
Got Caroline a hand made stamp for her birthday, from the same master that hand made my first stamp. The shop has been there near the apartment I was born for over 20 years. Felt so moved when I revisit for Caroline. Time flies. The energy in the calligraphy store always bring me some indescribable energy. The peaceful and settle atmosphere that split by that classy wooden door from the traffic and noise outside. It's like a vacuum bubble, here, it's all about Chinese culture and aesthetics and that's it. Hmm. Shame how contemporary youth culture doesn't explore the root of that any more.
if you follow me on twitter you've probably seen me gushing my pants over my recent project. Long story short - I have too many magazines and monthly publications and I was getting sick of it taking up space, so I bought some binders, clear page sleeves, and an exacto knife.
I'm saving all the pages and clippings from the mags that I originally got them for in the first place. So now, instead of large, heavy piles of magazines and monthlies, I'll have neatly organized, easily accessible binders.
I'm so in love...
In the end I'll have 4 binders (for now). Pink and Purple contain all the covers and pages of bands, singers, and models I love, photo sets of, reviews of, articles by, and interviews with... etc. Red contains random/general photo sets and articles about fashion, food, toys... and just "cool" stuff in general that didn't quite fit into the other two binders. Green binder which I have not worked with yet will contain anime and manga stuff.

This photograph was published in the Illustrated Chronicle on the 4th of March 1916.
During the Great War the Illustrated Chronicle published photographs of soldiers and sailors from Newcastle and the North East of England, which had been in the news. The photographs were sent in by relatives and give us a glimpse into the past.
The physical collection held by Newcastle Libraries comprises bound volumes of the newspaper from 1910 to 1925. We are keen to find out more about the people in the photographs. If you recognise anyone in the images and have any stories or information to add please comment below.

The Tragically Hip are one of my favorite bands...there is nothing like seeing Gord Downie go off on one of his rants...and even better on a warm summer night. I will be praying for sunshine...as this will be the 20th time I have seen The Hip live. I can't wait...!!!
