"Man hat mir versichert," begann der Kater, " daß Ihr die Gabe besäßet, gnädiger Herr, Euch in alle Arten von Tieren zu verwandeln." -- "Das ist auch wahr," antwortete der Zauberer, "um es dir zu beweisen, will ich mich gleich in einen Elefanten verwandeln." Der Kater war erschrocken, als er den Elefanten vor sich sah, und bat den Zauberer, sich in eine Maus zu verwandeln. Das geschah, dia Maus lief plötzlich hin und her, der Kater aber haschte sie und fraß sie auf. = "I have been told," began the cat, "that you have the gift, honored sir, of transforming yourself into all kinds of animals." "That is certainly true," answered the magician, "and to prove it to you, I will transform myself immediately into an elephant." The cat was astounded when he saw the elephant in front of him, and then asked the magician to transform himself into a mouse. That happened: the mouse suddenly ran back and forth, but the cat caught it and ate it up.

Interpretive notes: The Cat asks the sorcerer to demonstrate his powers. The sorcerer first transforms into an elephant; but when he then changes into a mouse, the cat catches him and gobbles him up!

A vintage treasure Mister Donut sign, nearly untouched in spirit, largely preserved by this independent diner owner on US-5 in Wallingford, CT. Mister Donut was acquired by Dunkin' Donuts in the US in the early 90's and many of its locations were converted or dwindled, making these signs extremely rare.
Mister Donut survives with many locations now based in Japan.

Schildering in (voormalig) station Lisse. Geen idee of het origineel is - er is ook een Wacht1kamer en een Wacht2kamer en drie afzonderlijke wachtkamers voor zo'n klein station lijken me onwaarschijnlijk - maar het ziet er in ieder geval aardig uit.
Woolgrowers apparently makes good picon punch. I didn't try it.
I prefered the punch at Noriega's over the drink at the Pyrenees but they are all pretty lethal.

The builder's plate from the SS "Flying Enterprise" in the Maritime Museum, Falmouth, Cornwall. 12th August 2008.
The ship was built in 1944 as the SS "Cape Kumukaki" for the United States War Shipping administration. After the war she was sold to the Isbrandtsen Company and renamed "Flying Enterprise". She was used as a general cargo freighter in the North Atlantic.
On Christmas night 1951 she was en route from Germany to the USA when she encountered a heavy storm in the English Channel which caused structural damage to the vessel and also shifted the cargo. The ship took on a severe list to port. On 29th December the crew and passengers were evacuated, one male passenger drowning in the process. The captain, Henrik Kurt Carlsen remained aboard. Attempts to tow the stricken ship to safety over the following days came to nothing and at 16.10 on 10th January 1952 she slipped beneath the waves, the captain having finally abandoned ship a little less than an hour earlier.
