Oh Mah Freakin' Lord... God... whichever... ate at the Tin Cat Café for the first time in an age... food ... amazing. Company.... fabulous. Service - freakin' awesome. Whether you are doing dinner or a weekend brunch catch up, I recommend booking into the Tin Cat. Claire/Clare- (unsure of spelling - but I know she is a fellow Leo and so - obviously - awesome) - and Co. at the Tin Cat will treat you like royalty. Book now. (They even loaned our dining companion a lovely giraffe poncho from the kids dress up, along with a scarf... which had him thinking and acting as King Leopold most of the evening).
Further, the Tin Cat Cafe has been host to a number of Sam Evans' exhibitions, so ... you know... art, food, cultre, customer service... they have it all. Book now. You won't regret it. I'll certainly be returning again soon.

Friday 21 February 2014: Neltner Refuge (3207 m / 10 522 ft) - Tizi n'Ouanoums (3684 m / 12087 ft) - Neltner Refuge (3207 m / 10 522 ft) - Sidi Chammharouch (2350 m / 7710 ft) - Aremd / Aroumd (1920 m / 6300 ft) - Imlil (1740 m / 5708 ft) - Marrakech (مراكش)
A long day, but with an extra half hour in bed before the watch/phone alarms went off. This morning's objective was Tizi n'Ouanoums (3684 m / 12087 ft) from where, the trip notes promised, we would "look down the steep southerly face to the emerald green of the Lac D'Ifni below" - hmmmmm.
The first part of our route followed in yesterday's footsteps (literally at times) half way up the Assif n'Isouhouanem n'Ouagounss before turning due east and straight up a very steep snow slope. After a few hundred metres of side steeping ascent and a welcome breather under a bare rock buttress with magical views back down into and across the valley, a short zig zag along a scree lined path brought us out at the pass (~9.25am).
We could just about distinguish the waters of the western-most tip of the lake, but the view down was outshone by those out over mountain ridges beyond and Mt Toubkal (جبل توبقال) to the north.
Over photos of the views, album cover poses, push ups and collected Grivel yellow crampons Jagged Edges was born - and then (~10am) it was time to head back downhill to the Neltner Refuge, encountering an Eastern European couple en route who thought they were on the Toubkal path .... uh oh.
Back at the refuge by 11am, we had an early lunch (~11.20am!), then a final sort out of daypack, kitbag and layers before setting off around 12.30pm back down the valley, feeling slightly sad. Crampons on, crampons off, crampons on, crampons off.
Back at the shrine at Sidi Chammharouch (~2.50pm) as we enjoyed another glass of mint tea at the cafe Chammharouch (and used their loo to de-layer discretely) our kit was transferred from porters to donkeys which then ferried our bags plus crampons and ice axes back to Aremd. We continued our descent in the sunshine - a striking difference to the weather during our outbound walk in only a few days previously.
Having said farewell to Hussein-the-cook at Aremd (~4.20pm) we said a fond farewell to Hussein-the-guide at the top end of Imlil, rendezvousing with our minibus at the other side of town around 5pm.
A beautiful sunset over the High Atlas mountains, a stork, a flock of egrets, a Tachograph traffic fine and a count down to hot showers marked our journey back to Marrakech (مراكش), and we drew up outside the Hotel Les Trois Palmiers a little after 7pm.
Rendezvousing clean, fresh and fragrant an hour later we walked a few doors down Rue Loubane to Chez Joel at the Hotel Le Caspien where I feasted on pizza, frites and other non-Moroccan fayre washed down with beer (1 bottle of Casablanca, 1 large draught mug of Flag), serenaded by a Mark Knopfler sound-a-like.

The competitive subscription market is about to have a new entrant to the market with ITV and the BBC braced to establish a Netflix style streaming service, having been given the green light from the authorities. First rumored a few months ago, the service with a working title of “Britflix” will see the two competitors collaborate to provide content via iPlayer. In a White Paper on the future of the BBC, Culture Secretary John Whittingdale called on the broadcaster to develop some sort of added subscription services over the next couple of years, in response to a call from the BBC for new powers to impose subscriptions.
It is being reported that other media content makers, Carnival and NBC films will be coming on board. Preceding strategies for the platform have suggested that it will also play host to a number of initial commissions from the BBC, and that it is going to be centered around archive content as opposed to first runs. The move implies that popular shows like Sherlock and Dr Who, may shortly be accessible for spectators to binge watch.
With a market becoming ever more crowded and a limit to the number of subscribers, the smart money is on them dropping the subscription fees and switching to an ad funded model. For Karma this means our production division and brand advertising agency could be involved.

Camp Andrews--Mount Vernon, Ohio
Dear Father and Mother
I presume you are waiting anxiously to hear from us again. I advised you in my last letter of the fact that several Companies had been transformed out of the 61st to other Regiments and among the number Briggs [Company where David and George are] and the one I belong, the former going to the 76th Regiment and the latter to the 43rd. I have been ordered to report to the 43rd Regiment with the men and I therefore expect to return to Camp Medill at Lancaster tomorrow. Ema [Joseph’s wife] who has been stopping here with an old acquanitance will also return and remain with me at Camp Medill as long as we shall remain there. After which she will return to Massillon.
I am going to try to get my pay this week. I presume the boys will also get their pay in a day or two. I saw in the morning paper that the 76th Regiment has taken up its march for Kentucky. I am not sure whether David made it back before his Regiment started out (see 71.36.6 - David did). David and George seem to be much more attached to each other than formerly. I gave George some good advice which I think he will treasure and practice upon. Ema did also.
Do not let yourselves be unnecessarily troubled about the boys, for although they are on the way to Kentucky, they will not be likely to be placed in the advance column. Above all, pay no attention to the exaggerated rumors you may hear.
