A different day, same aerial as other tests. Nikon D40, Nikkor 80-200mm f/4.5 AiS @ f/16, 1/400s, ISO 200.
I was testing my brand new Kenko 2x TeleConverter today, using my two longest lenses (and my widest one, for purposes of comparison).
This is the power light on my computer tower, from 12 feet, 9 inches away (subject-to-sensor distance).
I was using my Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lens, with the 2x converter on it, for an effective length of 600mm.
(And, for you film nuts, that's an effective focal length of 960mm, since my camera has a crop factor of 1.6x).
Click here for a comparison of various focal lengths, taken at the same location.
Here you see the effect of the different ISO settings of the Panasonic Lumix LX3, the upper crops are jpeg (out of cam) with noise reduction -2. In the middle you can see an ISO 800 image with the same jpeg settings except that nr is +2.
Below you find 2 RAW crops with ISO 800 and 1600.
Testing out the Canon EF 20-35mm f/2.8L I just got. The specimen is nearly perfect cosmetically--amazing for a 20 y/o or more lens. It's not as sharp as the 70-200 f/4L but few lenses are. Some mild unsharp mask in LR5 seems to do the trick though!
Test print in low quality. I've made this test of my doll head's lid to check the size and some details.

this was my suggested method for seeing which shade matched my sister's complexion.

Testing my brand new scanner :)
Page from my pocket notebook pencil and white gel pen over Derwent Inktense pencil.
1967 road safety board game with nice graphics. The cards show road signs, safety scenarios and knowledge test questions. Yes learning how to be a safe driver can be fun!
I stand corrected on my previous opinion of Panasonics JPEG engine. Check the original of this image. Left is JPEG out of
camera, right is RAW corrected for sharpness and noise reduction in LR. Notice the difference. The JPEG would be totally useless for print. The right is acceptable considering it was shot at 6400 ISO, 250mm hand-held at 1/125 second.
I've come to the conclusion that my problem lies with the noise and sharpness corrections in camera. I'll have to see if there is not some way to turn those completely off.
Edited SpaceX (probably, although I got this from a NASA source) image of a static test firing of a Falcon 9 rocket. This is the rocket that will carry a man-rated capsule to orbit for testing prior to launching people.
Original caption: At NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A, the nine engines of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket roar to life in a brief static firing on Jan. 24, 2019. The test was part of checkouts prior to its liftoff for Demo-1, the inaugural flight of one of the spacecraft designed to take NASA astronauts to and from the International Space Station. NASA has worked with SpaceX and Boeing in developing Commercial Crew Program spacecraft to facilitate new human spaceflight systems launching from U.S. soil with the goal of safe, reliable and cost-effective access to low-Earth orbit destinations such as the space station.
These are a few test shots which I took for a local hairdresser at Skullduggeri Hair & Beauty. They wanted something different to the "normal" advertising shots seen on other hairdressing websites. I've never really done any advertising or commercial photography before.
Whilst I was there I was told I was not allowed to photograph any of the clients getting their hair/nails/beauty treatments done! Ever mirror I looked in reflected a person which caused a problem. Also even though the shop had big windows the light was really bad, causing noise on some of images.
I have been in two minds or not if I should post these images or not. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
