Christian and Gunda didn't take only their Airolos tandem and Birdy red with them, but also two home tuned folding bikes. This one of them. It is based on a Bernds folder.
On sunday june 14 2008 we visited the Ökowerk at Grunewald in Berlin after we rode the origamiride through the Grunewald.

At Ökowerk there were several activities: testriding Birdys, historical bicycle show, slides about touring in Madagascar by Dietmar Böhm, the story about Bird in Japan, uphill races, and several contests for the lightest and the most beautifully tuned Birdy.

The final driving test of my new sulphur yellow Birdy by Jörg. The testride is sort of torturing the bike in a way I'd rather not see, nor do.
Good though, because the testride showed a little imperfection that my dealer never would have noticed, and could have its remedy here right away.

something is going on :) did a couple of circles down on the backyard to try the bars out... I'm not too sure about them. Tried two stems- one felt a bit too long and the other one was to short- both felt a bit too low I think. The sitting position gets sort of compact...
I might get some drop bars instead, not sure.. Decisions, decisions. Possibly a Nitto UI-5EX stem too.. could use that for both handlebar setups I think. According to this and todays tests- a 110- or 100mm.

Another Birdy surprise was shown here. A test model for the future Birdy. Not really a Birdy, but a model for testing seating positions on the to be developed real Birdy.
Behind this model, the first production Birdy with belt drive transmission.

There was a Bike Safe stand at SMC as well.. Funny how the Police & Fire are there and yet we in the Ambulance service are not!! They were advertising a 'first bike on scene' type course to teach bikers about scene safety and first aid.. And we as the ambulance service are not there!! Sigh!!
My first test ride on "Fall Color". The bike was a Montague MX folding bike. It was in pretty rough shape. I asked the master bike builder Tim to rebuild it for me. He replaced practically all the components except the seatpost and handlebar (to be replaced eventually?). To cut the cost down we used some used (but good) parts. New parts used include a Shimano XT rear derailleur, a new chain and cassette, a new saddle and minor parts like QL skewers and brake pads. The most time-consuming part of the project was the paint job. I am calling the bike "Fall Color" because of the paint job. It used to weigh around 30 lbs. Now it weighs about 26+ lbs with the kickstand.
Other possible names for the bike: Sunrise, sunset, koi (gold fish), fall foliage
In deze maand, januari 2012, zijn nieuwe testritten van start gegaan over de Hanzelijn. Tot en met Juni wordt door Prorail in samenwerking met uitvoerder Hanzarailteam de techniek van de spoorlijn op de proef gesteld.
Strukton Dloc 303008 staat stationair te draaien voor evt. volgende proefrit.

In januari 2012 new testrides on the new Hanzelijn - between Lelystad and Zwolle - are started, the will last until June of this year. ProRail, rail network maintainer, and the builders.
Test loc Sturkton 303008 is fired up and waiting for the next testrun.
Rode just like a regular bike and didn't weigh any more than my usual commuter.
