Testritten ICE3 Hanzelijn - 4
Op de tweede testdag werden ook weer een aantal slagen gemaakt tussen Lelystad en Zwolle.
ICE3 4610 komt hier vanaf Dronten op weg naar Lelystad gezien vanaf de Elandweg.
Het stel was sneller dan de schaduw ;( Maar wl een mooie weerspiegeling van de huizen van Dronten in de ramen ;)

Second day of ICE3 testrides on the Hanzelijn - again some trips from Lelystad to Zwolle vv.

The ICE travelled faster than the shadows could move ;( But a nice reflection of houses in Dronten
in the windows of the train ;)

50(s)miles out with Jill today, we put the soft luggage onto the rear panniers to see how they fit. Then headed out so that Jill could see/feel if they got in her way or stopped her holding on to the pannier rails.
Plus of course found a cafe too!!

Toen ik op 28-08-2008 in station Martigny wachtte op de trein naar Lausanne, stopte op één van de buitenste sporen een Stadler Flirt in opvallende kleuren. Gauw er op af. Van dichtbij zag ik mannen in pakken of in oranje werkkleding in de trein zitten en lopen. In de verte bekeken twee techneuten een draaistel. Duidelijk een testrit.
(Het ging om tien nieuwe treinstellen voor de Italiaanse SAD Societá Automobilistica Dolomiti. Het bonte treinstel droeg verder nog de opschriften Ferrovia Pusteria - Pustertal Bahn (Alto Adige/Süd Tirol).

The Fr8 is gr8 for big people. My dad is 6 feet 2 inches tall, and I am 6 feet 3.5 inches tall. Our average weight is probably 190 pounds.
My dad came into town to visit my sister and I for Thanksgiving. The only thing I wanted to do was having him try out a Dutch bike.
Out for 58(s)miles to test the updated RealRider app and to record alongside it using Relive app..
Popped out to the lovely Revs and Relics cafe in Maltby (worth a visit!) and then worked my way back using smaller roads etc..
Nice to see some other REs at Revs an Relics..

I ran it up to Tomcat bikes this afternoon to pick up the larger size of 20" wheel (451 vs 407), the proper cargo rack, and a pair of canti brakes because I'd forgotten to stuff them into my pocket when I headed up.
The frame stiffens up very nicely when the cargo rack is installed. The geometry is still a bit whack for me, but at least it no longer takes turns progressively.
(also note the properly small front tire. If I could find some supple™ tires in a suitably narrow width for the rear wheel I'd be a happy camper.)

Took a Royal Enfield Bear out for a test ride today..
Dropped Himmy off for it's new rear tyre at Manhattons and had an hour and a bit out on the Bear!!

Yea! Got her out on Himmy at last! After a pretty bad night shift and a bit of a lie in.. We got out into the lovely Peak District (with a lot of others!!) to see how being a pillion on Himmy felt.
At Insomnia Cafe at Calver here!
Some of her observations were -
More comfortable than Navi, esp over bumps! Sitting position is slightly higher than Navi and feels better.
Foot pegs are higher and that suits her as well.
The smaller topbox is in the right place to help her feel secure, plus the grab handles behind and to the side of her felt good to hold.
Interestingly there is slightly more room on Himmy for her than on Navi!
She likes the look of Himmy.

View beyond the horizon: A testride with the new S1000RR with all options: DDC, Race Mode, forged wheels. Measured with 206 horse power by Motorrad. I used the opportunity to test max speed on a free german autobahn (many sections without any speed limit). Incredible how stable the bike is with > 299 km/h. A real Superbike!
But: On the country road the Monster is much more fun with its strong low- and midrange torque and the fantastic V-Twin sound :-).

My first test ride on "Fall Color". The bike was a Montague MX folding bike. It was in pretty rough shape. I asked the master bike builder Tim to rebuild it for me. He replaced practically all the components except the seatpost and handlebar (to be replaced eventually?). To cut the cost down we used some used (but good) parts. New parts used include a Shimano XT rear derailleur, a new chain and cassette, a new saddle and minor parts like QL skewers and brake pads. The most time-consuming part of the project was the paint job. I am calling the bike "Fall Color" because of the paint job. It used to weigh around 30 lbs. Now it weighs about 26+ lbs with the kickstand.
Trying out the Jack Taylor with a short 5 mile ride. First time with a wireless computer too (finicky!).
New habit: riding and thinking IN the studio. I was stewing on Timelines.

Voor woensdag 3 en donderdag 4 oktober waren er proefritten met een NSHispeed V250 gemeld - op 4 oktober werden ze ook echt gehouden.
Eens tijd om deze nieuwste telg in het NSH pakket eens onder de loep te nemen en wel op Station Lelystad - waar anders zo laat op de avond ;)
De verkenning gaat van close naar wide, eerst nog met de rode led lichten, later met de witte .....
NSH V250 stel 4804 heeft zn eerste testrit Lelystad - Zwolle Rangeer voltooid en is binnen gelopen op spoor 1 in Station Lelystad.
Het hele stel op spoor 1 onder de kap van station Lelystad - net nog in 'die Blaue Stunde' ....

For the 3th and 4th of october testride where expected with a NSHispeed V250 - on the 4th they were actually held.
Time to take a good look at this newest train of NSHispeed, due to the late hours it had to be done on Lelystad Station - where else so late in the evening ;)
The survey takes place from close to wide, at first with the red tail LED lights, later with the white ones .....
NSH V250 4804 just entered at platform 1 of Lelystad Station after completion of the first ride from Lelystad to Zwolle Yard vv.
The complete V250 on the hood of Lelystad Station - it was just into the 'Blaue Stunde' ....
My standard place to pause and take portraits of the bikes (esp. test rides, as it's within a couple miles of my place). The verdict today is that the bars will need another layer of tape, perhaps with some padding underneath.
