Probably my main test subject. I like the square format and was wanting to be able to do it with 35 mm. I realized that an Agfa Isomat Rapid that I already had could do this. So this morning I put some b&w in a rapid cassette and tried it out. Did a blog entry about this camera. Afga Isomat Rapid
Different styles of bends were being tested here to see which produced the most optically transparent bends with the least amount of light loss.

The famous illuminated tram, “The Western Train” is nearing the end of a massive two and a half year rebuild and will be on nightly illuminations during the 2009 Blackpool Illuminations, the first time it will have run in ten years. The restoration work has been painstakingly detailed and will return the tram to 1962 condition -except for the interior of the rear coach, where the clock is being turned all the way back to 1928. The work has been funded with the assistance and support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, and has been carried out in our own workshops.

Testing out the new gear and debating whether or not to hold on to my pocket wizards. I'm impressed by the Nikon CLS (Creative Lighting System) so far and love that I can make all my changes from my d90. And I technically have 3 flashes if I use the flash on the camera as well as my sb600 and sb900. Still need to test some extreme setups but it looks promising.
Anyone have feedback?
Strobist info: bare sb600 in the piano at 1/4 power. Bare sb900 far camera right at 1/64 power and zoomed to 200mm. Triggered via CLS.

Probably built in the 1200s, Burguine Zavelstein (Zavelstein castle ruins) is cool to stop by and see. Wars and time have not been kind to the structure, but yet another interesting piece of history in our backyard.

So I was feeling a bit bored, and at the same time, I wanted to test out my freshly made "Solar Lantern".
Anyways I saw some online instruct-ables on how to build a cool solar light. So I went to ikea and bought a mason jar, and borrowed the electronic parts, and put em all together.....and voila! A solar lantern.
Anyways, for the real test. I wanted to see what the difference between using a skylight filter on the amount of light it actually blocks. When I first bought my camera a while back ago, I was naive and didn't know better. The Black's employee convinced me that I needed a skylight filter to protect all my fancy lens from getting scratched. So I bought 2 OPTEX SKYLIGHT FILTERS (52mm). They were $14.99. Then I recently read an article online that cheapo filters (this one), actually blocks out a lot of light.... but how much worse?
So, shown here are 2 different photos. One WITH the filter (top), and one WITHOUT the filter (bottom).
Can you see a difference in the amount of good light that gets filtered out? These are identical exposure values for both shot, and haven't been edited in any way. Also note the reduction in sharpness.... I'm sure as hell not using these craptacular filters anymore.
The only thing visible above water at the EMEC tidal test site - these are the pilings for one specific turbine. We were told three others are also being tested on site, but all evidence of them was hidden below the water...
