And... the following day I was hanging out by a stage door and a VIP guest came out of it. IT WAS SAMUEL L. JACKSON! (I only glimpsed him super-briefly.)

There is a rather spooky little story associated with this 1862 era Mausoleum.
The cement patch on the upper left hand side of the crypt was one a barred window, with a bronze bell hung upon it. The bell had a chain which led into the crypt and could be rung if a visitor become locked inside ( Reason given) or if someone was entombed alive in the crypt and wanted out (Unsaid reason)
Legend has it that one night the groundskeeper heard the bell ringing, figuring it was just trespassers ( at the time the cemetery was a good few miles from the city, quite a hike for nighttime trespassing ) grabbed his lantern and headed over He found nothing. When the same event occurred the second evening, he thoroughly scoured the grounds, and even opened the crypt, shining his lantern over the coffins, nothing was disturbed or out of place. As he turned to walk back , the bell started ringing again. Turning around he witnessed the chain being pulled and bell ringing moving in the breezeless evening. It stopped as he approached. Again he opened the crypt. The end of the chain was swaying, but nothing else was moving. Everything was still in its place.
It has never been said if the bell ever rang again, but at some point, for some reason, the bell was removed and the window cemented in.

The sky that morning was grey. The air hung stagnant along the seemingly endless shore. It was quiet aside from the steady breath and break of the tide as it clawed it's way in, zealous for more land, and then exhausted from the efforts, swept back out.
Without warning the atmosphere, sparked to life like lightning, came alive. The mouth of the ocean pulled back it's white-foam lips into a terrifying snarl and all at once spit forth a tangle of limbs struggling to stay upright. Her golden hair hung around her face, wild and unkempt. Her skin, smooth like silk, adorned in a opaque opalescent chemise, seemed to glow from within. It seemed as if the moon itself has brushed it's lips along her perfectly formed cheekbones, leaving stardust in it's wake. She was perfect, and if not for the vacant, troubled crease that sat upon her regal brow, untouchable.

Terrified we crawl away.
Seen the noise surrounding another day.
As the mist walks its daily trail.
I find life inside the empty void.
It opens itself.
Like the ground for the dead.
I've heard you screech.
Not one instead
Of a darkness that mauls the light.
We've found each other in the abyss.
Yet we still do not notice one another.
I love you.
What started of as a skeptical experiment quickly turned into one of the most terrifying forces of the modern world. The Omni Terrian Impetum Pod was first pitched to The Federation by Gearworks Defense Co. as a mobile artillery platform. GDC was licensed to build 4 of the OT-IP which were used in the beginning of the Federation/Secessionist war, and quickly became a permanent fixture on the battlefield.

The Great Sphinx of Giza (English: The Terrifying One), commonly referred to as the Sphinx, is a statue of a reclining or couchant sphinx (a mythical creature with a lion's body and a human head) that stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt.
It is the largest monolith statue in the world, standing 73.5 metres (241 ft) long, 6 metres (20 ft) wide, and 20.22 m (66.34 ft) high. It is the oldest known monumental sculpture, and is commonly believed to have been built by ancient Egyptians of the Old Kingdom during the reign of the pharaoh Khafra (c. 2558–2532 BC).

White-throated Fantail Rhipidura albicollis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia
The White-throated Fantail (Rhipidura albicollis) is a small passerine bird. It is found in forest, scrub and cultivation across tropical southern Asia from the Himalayas, India and Bangladesh east to Indonesia. The White-throated Fantail lays three eggs in a small cup nest in a tree.
The White-throated Fantail is insectivorous, and often fans its tail as it moves through the undergrowth.
Birds use the same song year after year, with progressively small changes, with the result that the song sounds very different after 4–5 years. The male's call is a valuable tool in detection and identification of the bird, which can often be confused with the White-browed Fantail, R. aureola, where their ranges overlap. R. aureola has light underparts and prominent spots in two rows on the wings. Its call is rather functional, and not as pleasant and aesthetic as that of R. albicollis.
On this day there were a number of confirmed tornadoes. This storm in particular was continuously tornado warned for hours. I saw lots of rotation, many cool funnels, one tornado roping out, and one "thing" that was probably an unreported rain wrapped tornado. I was mostly following the storm from behind because I got off work late. When I got within a few miles of the tornado near Bayard, I heard on the radio that the tornado was rain wrapped, so I did the safe thing and turned around. Enjoy the sick mammatus clouds! Clock time on the meta-data is wrong.
“You asked for Heinlein and here he is with a novel of terrifying power and almost unbearably sustained suspense!” -- The Editor
“In the summer of 2007, Earth is under attack. Slug-like creatures, arriving in flying saucers, are attaching themselves to people's backs, taking control of their victims' nervous systems, and manipulating those people as puppets. The Old Man, the head of a clandestine national security agency called the Section, goes to Des Moines, Iowa, with Sam and Mary, two of his best agents, to investigate a flying saucer report, but much more seriously the ominous disappearance of the six agents sent previously. They discover that "the slugs" are steadily taking over Des Moines, but they cannot convince the US president to declare an emergency. . .” – Wikipedia
“The Puppet Masters” was written a few years before Jack Finney’s “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” which is the more well-known parasitic alien invasion story (first published in Collier’s Magazine in 1954). In Finney’s tale, alien plant spores replicate humans and replace them with emotionless duplicates. Both stories emerged during the Cold War, when fears of infiltration, loss of autonomy, and ideological conformity were rampant. So, while “Body Snatchers” may have been influenced—consciously or not—by Heinlein’s “Puppet Masters,” it’s more accurate to see them as parallel expressions of 1950s paranoia.
Heinlein reportedly settled with “The Outer Limits” over the episode “The Invisibles” (1964), where aliens attach themselves to the backs of people to control them. The Star Trek episode “Operation Annihilate!” (1967) also has alien parasites like those in “The Puppet Masters.” Heinlein’s novel eventually made it to the big screen. The film version of “The Puppet Masters” (Buena Vista, 1994) starred Donald Sutherland. It was, unfortunately, a box office flop and received mixed-to-poor reviews, though it has since gained a modest cult following.

[Note: Donald Sutherland also starred in the 1978 remake of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” – making him a kind of cinematic patron saint of alien possession stories. That eerie scream at the end of the 1978 film is iconic.]
I have have ventured into new territory. Flash candids at night. I was terrified. It turned out very positive. Talked to a lot of people. No confrontations. A few people complaining here and there but nothing too harsh.
I was in Old City and I was having a rough time getting good shots due to the low light levels. In my frustration I tried a few flash shots. It was okay so I kept on going. I had not planned on doing flash; it was born purely out of frustration.
The delay on the flash was a problem, so I had to change my anticipation calculation, especially if people were walking. There's also a big delay between flash shots so it's one shot and done, not constant clicking like I typically do.
Also out of my bag of tricks is hip shots, or any quick kind of shot. At night with flash, there is little choice but to step right up to people hold the camera up and steady, anticipate, and get your one snap in. No fear.
Wishing you a scary Halloween!!

This one is abit different. Got some reptiles in the studio the other day and I was quite scared while taking these ones. The snake was making his way around making it very difficult. Thought id throw it on here for some variety.

" Ellie's hometown was hit with a massive tornado. She was terrified, she was evacuated to a safe center, not knowing where her family was she was left wondering were they dead or alive. Fear consumed her body, she couldn't control her emotions. Everything she had ever known could be gone forever and she could be dead. She forced herself to continue the few days she had to spend without any of her loved ones. She prayed every night for her and her family to reunite all healthy and safe.
Soon when everything cleared up Ellie was allowed to leave. She stepped into the town she grew up in only to see Chaos and terror. Buildings collapsed, people hurt. Her mother was the first person who she saw who was getting off a bus from a safe center, Ellie ran upon the shattered glass at full speed towards her and soon enough was in her mother's arms and would be reunited with her family as quick as possible."
So sorry this is on the deadline, I am so busy. The photo is Ellie's memory of waiting in the safe center every night, not knowing whether her family were dead or alive. I promise my photos will be back to how they were first because I am so busy at the moment! I wanted this photo to be full of emotion and very gentle. I wanted to show how sad and frightened Ellie was for her family.
I hope you like this :)
