Suddenly, just barren rock. No markers. We thought...well, we'll just keep going, and soon we'll find one... But we didn't. And we couldn't find the path we'd taken either. We cast about....up one cliff, down one cliff, up one cliff, back down...brrr...

We realized at the end the trail was designed for you to go UP the stairs to the view, and then down the slope.

We climbed up the slope. Yes, it was pretty freakin' steep. We made it, though!
