The power of element is enormous. Broken trees, thousands of leafs on the ground, flooded streets - these are the results of a serious "tropical" thunderstorm.

I'm terrified to face my fears. Terrified to make a move. Terrified to approach. Terrified to see. Terrified to lose. Terrified to fall in love. With everything.

p/s: This galaxy / space is quite typical, I know. But there's nothing wrong to give it a try?
Smoke from the Lava Fire (caused by lightning, not by lava!), near Weed, California. Taken near sunset from our backyard, ~10 miles (17 km) away.
Memphis Zoo. I have no idea what kind of snake this is, other than "ridiculously terrifying" snake. Feel free to leave a comment if you know.
UPDATE! We visited the Memphis Zoo again recently and I took photos of the name of this snake. It is a Mangshan Mountain Viper, which is found in a remote, mountainous region of China. It has only been known about since 1989. I still think just calling it “utterly terrifying” is sufficient.
The Yokohama shore break scares me. The violent way the wave jacks up and slams on shallow water is brutal. I know where I should be in the wave to get a good shot but I also know being in a little too deep would result in broken bones. So I was very cautious and happy to get this shot.
“Grasshopper Green and the Meadow-Mice” written and illustrated by John Rae. P.F. Volland Company, 1922, twelfth edition. One of Volland’s “Sunny Book” series.
Being in the flow and movement of water and kelp, connecting with the place and with all that it entails....letting that seep below the conscious mind and be revealed in visions and dreams....
""...the ethereal and timeless power of the land, that union of what is beautiful with what is terrifying, is insistent. It penetrates all cultures, archaic and modern. The land gets inside us, and we must decide one way or another what this means, what we will do about it." ~ Barry Lopez, Arctic Dreams.

He only opened his wings wider...never making a sound. I found a long stick to see if I could maybe prod it to move but the wings and head went back so far he fell over on his back, never making a sound. I know the poor thing must have been 'terrified', I put the stick down walked over put my hand under it's back, other hand on top, slowly lifted it, walked over to the eucalyptus tree and uprighted it as I sat it on a branch. He immediately grabbed hold, the wings went down and he just looked at me.
I never did see any signs of the parents but hope that they were near by.

A friend gave me the Lego City set 60381 from last year. So for the last month I have been building tiny builds.
It's my first Advent-set, and I am impressed as the tiny builds start to fill up the bookshelf. And I could not help noticing a few stories between the tiny builds...
I saw a series of photos of dogs catching treats today, and they were hysterical. I wanted to recreate what I'd seen, but it's hard to do on my own. So, instead, I got pics of my dogs looking at me expectantly as I held yummies above their heads! LOL

The upland regions of the UK are renowned for their fickle weather. They say that if you can’t see the mountain tops then it’s raining and ………………………………. if you can see the mountain tops, it’s going to rain.
But bad weather can be beautiful. Here, there is light in the heavy cloud and a feeble shaft of sunlight offers the hope of better weather. It’s beautiful and terrifying at the same time.
Whenever I see a sky like this I hear Wagner.
Try it for yourself.

Turn it up.
LOUD!!!
I think Wagner may have been looking at a sky such as this when he wrote the music. And if he did he certainly viewed it Large
A smiling gremlin, and...some kind of purple monster. You'd have to talk to Dewey for clarification on what exactly that was meant to be.

Thank you, everyone, for your visits, comments and faves - I appreciate them all!
Janie Sparkles, in the foreground, and Decibelle, Dutchess of Doughnuts, taking a little nap this morning.
Decibelle came to live with us about two weeks ago. She and Janie are getting along great.
Several weeks back, we took in Lindy, another french bulldog. Alas, she really didn't like living in the city. She would cower as soon as we got outside, seemed to be terrified of the cars going past (I live on a fairly busy street). She was a lot slower than Janie, and it seemed she wanted to be the only dog in the house. So, Lindy is back with the rescue agency, but I never had the heart to post about it here. Hopefully, she'll find a nice suburban home where she'll have a more relaxed life. All three came from French Bulldog Rescue www.frenchbulldogrescue.org/

Jellyfish taken on a recent trip to the aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN. I sat back and watched him swim for a while before taking any shots...the rhythm of the movement was just mesmerizing. What struck me so hard while viewing him, was how incredibly beautiful and brilliant his colors, shape, and movement were, but how scared I would be to meet him next to me in the water!

Found photograph of terrified child and father. "Young Acrobat and Child" 1905 and "The Arm" 1959 bronze by Pablo Picasso.
When I was little and about to eat a piece of meat, my dad would go, "Mooooo! Noooooo! Moooo! Don't eat me! That hurts!"
I think it's one of the reasons I'm mostly a vegetarian today.
Sweet Milo..our first day home with him. He was just 8 weeks old and so terrified of his new surroundings! I had forgotten how tiny and cute (still had his "baby" blues) he was! I'm still putting photos on my new lap top, and I found this one last night and just had to share!
Sitting in the front of the car, passenger side, as we came home from the Sheffield direction via the Snake Pass. Sunderland P, Montagu and Horace were in a state of panic thinking that there may be loads of snakes and they might find their way into the car. It didn't help that there were road signs in evidence that suggested the road may be closed at times.
All was well though when we got near Glossop as the wise bear in the group said that snakes don't get into towns and cities.
Some of us kept quiet on that topic given the awareness that a different kind of snake can be found but not one that would trouble bears I don't think.

There is something awe-inspiring, yet terrifying, about being in the realm of perfection. I was photographing a Blue Shark when I heard a yell from topside, "MAKO!" I immediately swiveled around and caught a glimpse of a large shadow streaking off into the depths with lightning speed. My heart started to beat faster and I started to breathe harder as I scanned the water column all around me. Then out of nowhere, a flash of steel blue and teeth shot out of the darkness and charged right towards me. The mako swam to within inches of me, turned, and was gone again. I was in the presence of the perfect predator, and in that brief moment I felt something I still cannot describe...a mix of fear and respect and wonder. What an experience that I will not soon forget.

I was awakened by a brilliant flash of lightning, followed by a deafening crack of thunder during midnight, then I took a series of long exposure photos and stacked them using Photoshop.
From a road on a hill top in lynx country, I saw an animal moving at the bottom of the hill on the muddy road 300 meters away. I was unsure what it was initially as it began to run up the steep incline in the road towards me, zig zagging as it ran. It soon became evident that it was a terrified Snowshoe Hare, running at full speed to evade a predator, which did not follow it onto the road. It continued to zig zag towards me at full speed, covering the entire 300 meters quickly and continued to run, seemingly all out, as it passed within a couple of feet of me, so scared that it ignored my presence.
I had a similar experience a few years ago when two coyotes were chasing — and very close to catching — a White-tailed Jackrabbit. The coyotes stopped when they saw me, but the terrified Jackrabbit continued to run at full speed towards me, passing within two feet.
