Village men working together to construct a temporary shelter from corrugated iron after the great earthquake in Kumpur village, Dhadhing, Nepal. The previously-constructed rustic shelter with a roof of leaves covered by a plastic tarp can be seen in the background.
I looked at the development of the modern city from the early medieval small cluster of haphazard streets walled off from the rest of the world through to the futuristic age of sky scrapers constructed from carbon nano-tubes and graphene. I attempted to capture this with a small array of buildings and quick 3D sketches. My ideas developed into combining buildings from different eras to create Gothic castles climbing out of temporary churches, WW2 sea fort type blocks of flats growing from over-flowing sewage systems, , coal-burning power station chimneys sprouting like fungi from the ruins and derelict buildings from the past, and monorails comprising of technology from the previous century such as steam locomotives, hot-air balloons and watermills. I finally sprayed the whole thing with the colors of industry to enhance the ideas of rapid development and efficiency. Approx size: 900mm by 700mm by 600mm
The bus station on an extremely quiet evening in Penticton; the streets were devoid of people (probably all home watching TV). There was an hour or so of great afternoon light for photography though. I walked around the outside of the bus station which was closed and therefore similarly devoid of activity. The closure of Highway 97 for a couple of weeks due to an unstable cliff meant that many regular bus runs were cancelled.

You ask me when I'm gonna return
I ask you why so much concern
The same snakes that drive you from my bed
Turn to voices and drive me out of my head
For fourteen days since you been back around
Trying to keep my spirits high and my demons down
But, can't you see
You got to save me or set me free
Why don't you bury me like the dirt that's in my soul
What makes you think you could love me, anyway
Ain't nobody told you about the way I operate
Angel of mercy set me free
Do you really give a damn for me?

The construction of a new interchange at the intersection of Preston Avenue South and Circle Drive in Saskatoon involves the construction of two temporary signalized intersections. Here are the signals for one of them. Eventually, this will be the only intersection you can access Preston Avenue north of Circle Drive from. There will be a separate set for Preston Avenue south of Circle Drive. Notice that the signal with four lights are actually two different brands? The top three are from Econolite and the bottom is from LFE.
