Teh Tarik or Pull Tea:
Hot tea beverage which can be commonly found in restaurants, outdoor stalls and kopi tiams in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Its name is derived from the pouring process of "pulling" the drink during preparation. It is made from black tea and condensed milk.

Bak Kut Teh, or 肉骨茶 (rou gu cha) in Chinese, or BKT for short, is a popular Malaysian dish. Its basically pork stew, with any part of the pork you desire (meaty and slick with fat is my favorite), with mushrooms and cabbage. Eaten with rice, and served with a side order of "you tiao" (deep fried flour bread stick), which you dip and soak in the soup. They should stamp "Made in Malaysia" on all the claypots used to serve BKT.
BKT - definitely at my top 5 favorite foods...along with lamb vindaloo, foie gras, cumin roast mutton and cheese baked lobster.

The concept for "Teh-tarik Satu" was actually inspired by the Malaysian artist Roslisham Ismail the "Place of Unity" featured in the coffee book "50Ways to live in Malaysia". His artwork captured the essence of the races that sat together in one place, in this case the mamak stall, sharing their time and everyday life stories with each other regardless of their race and cultural back-grounds.
The people that came together at Ironworks Studio, are in many ways, no different from the above, both ethnically, and in country. Each individual that participated in the photo shoot brought their own personal Malaysian/Canadian life experiences to the making of "Teh-tarik Satu."
Teh-tarik Satu was produced in Canada.
probly the most accurate view from my actual eyeballs. i zoomed in for the other shots.
also, i had a seat at the edge of the aisle. I so could have ran down and gotten shots from the ringside barrier but i'm not that big of a mark :P

Folks on teh Twitter were asking about what kind of audience attends the Rachel Maddow Show because they could hear laughter at some of the jokes. In fact Rachel is quite remote while the show is being broadcast and there's no amplification of the show to the room so if you don't have it in an ear piece you can only hear Rachel's side of the interviews.
Anyway, these photos show the show set in the context of the newsroom. Folks who can hear newsroom noise (including that beep from the wire service) on the podcast can now see why that happens.
Busted my ass to get here by 12:30, just to find out they booked
everybody several hours early under the assumption that we would all
be late. Burlesque performers and strippers are notoriously late. I
understand the logic, but I'm fucking pissed they've wasted my time.
Also, some how my entire schedule has shifted... I'm now here an extra
5-6 hours tomorrow, with 2 hour gaps between each performance. That's
some major bullshit.
Teh tarik is quintessentially Malaysian, though you can get it in Singapore. It's tea with condensed milk that's aerated by pouring it from one container to another till you get froth on top. The pouring bit is quite spectacular, as a self-respecting teh tarik (pull in Malay) seller increases the distance between containers as he pours.
heres a screenshot of the pedobear i did on a chat when no one was there. i had to do it line by line and post by post and select and copy each line since i did it on a chat. it was hard work, unlike just selecting the whole this and copying and pasting it in a forum and stuff.
Thats me drinking "teh tarik" which is like thai iced tea, but hot. It is some sort of tea and condensed milk concoction. Good stuff, nice of them to name it after me,
