The Tees Newport Bridge is a vertical-lift bridge spanning the River Tees a short distance upriver from Tees Transporter Bridge, linking Middlesbrough with the borough of Stockton-on-Tees, in the northeast of England. It was completed in 1934
Work started in July 2014 to paint the bridge Red and Silver to mark its 80th anniversary. The work was originally planned to take 6 weeks, but was completed behind schedule and over-budget in October 2015. The main cause for the delay was that the bridge had not been maintained by Stockton Council for 15 years, and much of the steel work was in a poor condition.

The Tees Barrage is a barrage across the River Tees just upriver of Blue House Point in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees in North East of England and is used to control the flow of the river, preventing flooding and the effects of tidal change. The Tees Barrage comprises a river barrage, road bridge, footbridge, barge lock, fish pass and white water course. The waters above the barrage are permanently held at the level of an average high tide and are used for watersports such as canoeing, jet skiing, dragonboat racing and incorporates a 1 km rowing course. The barrage is accessible by road only from Thornaby-on-Tees as there is very limited road access to the north bank of the Tees.
I will preface this by saying that I am NOT a golfer, however, I think "tee time" is appropriate for this occasion. Furthermore, I researched the history of the Dunroamin/Hardwick Crossing Country Club, but got bored and gave up on posting the elongated, plagiarized story here. At any rate, MCER 1750 is southbound on PA-2 passing the golf course in Hardwick, MA on a warm February 21, 2022, one of a few takes on this day with a couple of good friends.

TEE Rheingold stopped at Emmerich, on the German border, to change from a Dutch (NS) locomotive to a German (Deutsche Bundesbahn - DB) locomotive. This is class 112, formerly E10.12. It was a variant of class E10, which was designed for 160 kph (100 mph). This was about as fast as European trains traveled iln 1970.
One of my goals on this trip was to ride a TEE (Trans Europ Express), the highest class of European train. The Rheingold was the most famous of these in Germany. From the time I left Stockholm, my travel was by train. I had a Eurailpass, which gave me first class travel, something that I found easy to get used to.
The Rheingold (named after the Wagner opera) was a luxury train from Hoek van Holland to Basel, from 1928 until World War II. It was re-established in 1951, and became one of Germany's first TEE trains in 1965. As a TEE, it had a dome car for viewing, particularly along the famous area of the Rhine River.
Rheingold and Rheinpfeil (Rhine arrow) operated in tandem. Rheingold ran from Hoek van Holland (the ferry port for Engand) to Basel. One part started from Amsterdam. Rheinpfeil ran from Dortmund to Munich. The two trains had a common stretch from Duisburg to Frankfurt. There were through cars covering all origins and destinations. I traveled from Amsterdam to Munich in one car, which was on Rheingold to Duisburg, then switched to Rheinpfeil.
This is no longer the case. European express trains operate as units, and cars are not switched from train to train. You go from one train to another. If you are lucky, the two trains are on opposite sides of a platrorm. Otherwise . . .

Na de laatste officiële TEE-rit op 25 mei 1974 organiseerde de NVBS op 3 juli 1974 een afscheidsrit met een dubbel stel door Nederland en België. Bij het laatste licht passeert de extratrein Barendrecht.
EWS 56094 'Eggborough Power Station' arriving at Tees Yard during the late afternoon of 30th October 2001 with empty Boulby potash hoppers after tipping at Middlesbrough Dock. The 'active' rolling stock (as opposed to long term storage in the yard as latterly found) alone signifies the healthier volume of raifreight traffic on Teesside compared to more recent times, and a yard pilot '08' shunter, still in BR blue livery, present to undertake shunting work.

... und heute scheint sogar die Sonne vom strahlend blauen Himmel und die Vögel zwitschern als gäbe es kein Morgen. Ich war mit meinem Mann in seiner Mittagspause essen und danach sind wir noch ein Weilchen im Schlosspark in der Sonne gesessen :-)
Zuhause gönne ich mir jetzt noch einen leckeren Kuchen und einen Tee ....... hach, manchmal ist das Leben einfach schön :-)
