The Tees Tyne Boggard was one of many railtours for the class 40's at their end of service. This Herefordshire Railtours charter started from KX and went to Toton via Retford. The 40's took over at Toton and then went up to Hartlepool.

It is a daunting shot between the trees off the tenth tee at Skidby Lake Golf Course, near Hull.. The fairway cambers to the right where trouble lurks with a ditch and bushes.

WSOR 4053's headlights pierce through the evening fog as Carl and his two conductors switch the elevator southwest of Whitewater.
The theme is TEE. So what is that? Each person's thoughts around tee, will be different. When I saw the word tee, I immediately thought 'golf tee'. I used to play golf but no longer do and so I have no tees. Then I thought tee shirt. Well that was easy. Ha! but was it? I don't actually have a tee shirt, however my husband does, so I borrowed it for a little photo shoot. Then I had to get his help managing the leaf-blower, to create the blowy effect on the tee. I do love this stuff.
Method: I strung up the line and pegged on the garments, then got my husband to poke the leaf blower out through a window to direct the blowing from the side. He kept missing the spot because a window curtain was in the way and he couldn't see what he was doing. We just laughed and laughed.
Black 5 45212 heads for York with the return leg of 'The Whitby Flyer', passing over a calm river Tees at Yarm. Having tried and failed to find a viewpoint on the other bank of the river, I got to this point on the other side with the footpath closed. Unsure I how much time I had I opted to stay put rather than follow the diversion, managing this shot as the result.
66568 leads 4L87 09.31 Tees Dock - Felixstowe North across the flooded Welney Washes (between Manea and Ely). 66557 was on the rear, but out of sight in this picture.
This was the first outing for my new camera, named as though it were the mark 3 version of what I'd been using for almost the last eight years (the mark 2 version), but in reality a new camera as it has been upgraded in so many ways. I'd been working in Ely, so took my camera with me in anticipation of a session here at sunset. The sun was still some way above the horizon when this appeared, not long before 4pm, but it had dropped into the cloud on the horizon by the time the usual train for sunsets appeared (4E20 from Felixstowe, over twenty minutes later) and the sky had lost its colour.
Unfortunately, for some reason the battery had run down on my monitor and, although I managed to set up the pole and take a couple of test shots, the monitor kept switching off. So I decided to do the shots from ground level, something I rarely do here now. I photographed both front and rear locos, changing the angle for the latter to include the girder bridge but not the trees on the right. However, with no containers right at the front (there were plenty everywhere else, including at the back) and the loco fitting perfectly between the sun and the small tree, I much prefer this one - and it's slightly different from others I've uploaded.
Manipulation notes: none at all - not even any straightening, cropping, lightening or darkening, increasing (or decreasing) the contrast, or enhancing the colours: it's straight off the camera! I had, however, set the camera to under expose by 1.3 stops based on the meter reading.

The main road bridge is 160 metres with 8 spans, with 4 of 17.5 metres each on the bridge itself. There is also a lower footbridge for walkers and cyclists which can be lifted by means of a hydraulic jack.
Four massive flood gates, each weighing fifty tonnes, are operated by hydraulic pistons.
They make sure the river upstream stays at a constant level.
It took four years to build and contains 650 tonnes of steel.
Opened in 1995.
