WEEK 44 – Wolfchase Sears Closing, Set X (UL)
Happy College GameDay, Memphis! I say this not as a sports fan (since I’m not one) but rather as a proud area citizen, who is happy Memphis got to enjoy the privilege of having College GameDay hosted on Beale Street today. Of course, the show’s probably already over by the time I’m even posting these pictures, but I’m writing the description you’re reading on Wednesday night (i.e. three days ago), so all in all it’s probably a wash :P And speaking of washes – whaddya know, here’s a shot of what was left of the bath department at the now-closed Wolfchase Sears as of my December 10th, 2018, visit! Terrible segue, I know XD But don’t worry, I can make it even worse: looks like all the merchandise had *washed away* when I took this pic! (Sorry not sorry…)

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
Mantodea or mantises is an order of insects that contains approximately 2,200 species in nine families worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. Most of the species are in the family Mantidae. Historically, the term "mantid" was used to refer to any member of the order because for most of the past century, only one family was recognized within the order; technically, however, the term only refers to this one family, meaning the species in the other eight recently established families are not mantids, by definition (i.e., they are empusids, or hymenopodids, etc.), and the term "mantises" should be used when referring to the entire order. A colloquial name for the order is "praying mantises", because of the typical "prayer-like" stance, although the term is often misspelled as "preying mantis" since mantises are predatory. In Europe, the name "praying mantis" refers to Mantis religiosa. The closest relatives of mantises are the orders Isoptera (termites) and Blattodea (cockroaches), and these three groups together are sometimes ranked as an order rather than a superorder. They are sometimes confused with phasmids (stick/leaf insects) and other elongated insects such as grasshoppers and crickets.

I found this one at Sylhet, Bangladesh. After sunset, these are found in plenty at Sylhet. Thanks everyone for viewing and your comments are largely appreciated!!
Designed specially for Moscow Technic Festival on Aug, 26, this Scania Topline truck is powered with a pair of large motors, servo steering, remote control and return-to-centre saddle for easier coupling. The manual functions are presented with openable doors and cab, as well as rear door of the trailer with locking mechanism.
The trailer itself is equipped with another receiver as well as 2 medium motors for coupling / decoupling and outriggers + brake system. Apart from own weight and batteries, the truck is capable to transport at least 1kg extra load, which was the requirement for Rig'n'Roll competition back at the festival.
Hopefully, the video of coupling and driving process (as well as the whole challenge with other contestants) will be published soon - there were enough people filming this whole thing :D

The Courses
Stone lithography courses are organised several times a year both at weekends and on weekdays. They are suitable for artists with or without previous experience of printmaking . Typically, participants are art students, art teachers, college lecturers, serious amateurs and professional artists in other media. As the number of places on the courses is kept to a maximum of four, each participant is encouraged to explore the medium in the way which is most appropriate to his or her own interests and experience, ranging from an introduction to the main technical processes of stone lithography, including preparation of stones, principal drawing and painting techniques and materials and printing skills, to more specialised subjects such as colour and transfer lithography. Other course formats and dates are negotiable: for example, a recent one day course was run for curators from the Word & Image Department of the V&A Museum.
Apologies for the sudden stop in uploads. A broken laptop has resulted in a trip back home in order to pick up a borrowed laptop.
Except, I'm not home. Due to complications with the upward chain, we've been in the process of 'moving house' for a few weeks.
The temporary house however did produce this lovely little H reg Micra, looking very original and rust free. I've been told it rarely leaves that spot.
How's this for a fun little technic dog? I've even included the parts so you can build one yourself.
My inspiration for this image came from the “I Love Lucy” episode where Lucy gets a little behind on some bills and Ricky decides to get a business manager for her. After taking money to pay all of the essential bills, the manager leaves Lucy with just $5 to spend on food and other extras for herself. Obviously, Lucy schemed to get around this budget, and wound up with a huge bill to the grocery store at the end of the month…but, it got me thinking. Could she really have made $5 stretch as a food budget that month? Not quite, but close…was the answer I gleaned from a quick Google search. In the 50’s a gallon of milk was, on average, only 82 cents, a loaf of bread only 14 cents, and a gallon of gas…get this…only 20 cents! Today you can’t even put together a single meal with that same $5.

Apology if the lighting is up to standard from another black moc, but I have more Galidor parts to fiddle around.
I gathered up some black technic pieces to see whether I could possibly build a version of the Rectifier from Tron:Legacy. I don't think I can, at least not this month. Still, I felt like slapping together all those technic pieces to see what would happen.
Don't take this one too seriously, this is probably more concept art than a true MOC.
This is one of my most complex models – Feller-Buncher. This type of construction equipment feel trees and stack them for easy removing.

I've been very busy lately (moving to the US!), but I thought I must make a Viper for Novvember.
I've always entertained the thought of making a Technic spaceship, and thought I would try it out this Novvember. However, you can't have a technic model without functionality and as such I decided to implement at least one function, and of course the standard technic fig ;)
Its function is to rotate its wings in two dimensions, controlled by the lever on the back side. See an image demonstrating this here:
Steam engine Ty2 911 during maintenance, the casing above engine boiler is removed - quite rare view.
PKP classes Ty2 and Ty42 is a class of freight (T) 2-10-0 (y) steam locomotive used by Polish State Railways, PKP from 1942 (42) onwards. They are Deutsche Reichsbahn class 52 Kriegslokomotiven (war locomotives), either acquired new (Ty42), or secondhand (Ty2), having been built during World War II in factories in many European countries.

ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst during his last week of training at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, USA. Alexander reviewed the main tasks he has to perform during his mission. His training started two years ago and has moved from general maintenance classes to specific tasks related to the Horizons mission.
Among these tasks are work on the airlock, the replacement of umbilical equipment for Extra Vehicular Activities (EVAs), testing of tools, review of experiments, making repairs and checking the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module.
Alexander will be launched on 6 June with US astronaut Serena Auñón-Chancellor and Russian cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev from the Baikonur cosmodrome, Kazakhstan in the Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft. Soyuz MS-09 will be the 138th flight of a Soyuz spacecraft.
The mission is called Horizons to evoke exploring our Universe, looking far beyond our planet and broadening our knowledge. His first mission was called Blue Dot. Alexander will take over command of the International Space Station for the second half of his mission. This is only the second time that a European astronaut will take up this leading position on the space outpost – the first was ESA astronaut Frank De Winne in 2009. Alexander Gerst is the 11th German citizen to fly into space.
The science programme is packed with European research: more than 50 experiments will deliver benefits to people back on Earth and prepare for future space exploration.
