Stopped at Taxiway "Dixi" waiting to cross 08L and 08R enroute to pick up a part at Delta TechOps for a short journey to KCLT. The aircraft pulled in front of our brand new Trent Engine Center for a pose as well.

With the retirements of the MD-88 from Delta’s fleet on 02 June 2020, I will never forget my first visit to ATL TechOps as a Delta employee on 11 April 1987. Another Brian G, the late Brian Gustafson met me at the gate coming off the flight and took me to TechOps to see the aircraft that I had seen a little more than a week earlier on Delivery 01 April via LAX and SLC, our first MD-82 (yes MD-82) sitting on the ramp. It would be converted to an MD-88 the next year. I couldn’t believe how big the ramp was. Doesn't seem so big now! I was 25 years old then. Thanks MD’s for all the memories. We’ll miss you

“Ship 717” doing a flyby Delta TechOps on its last flight from KMAF (Midland / Odessa) to ATL, ending a 4 month attempt to get it from Coolidge, Az to the the Delta Flight Museum in ATL where it will be repainted and put on deisplay. Not the best of shooting conditions but certainly an historical event!
