Kian was back to stain doors and put cork tiles on the wall today. The plumber also came back, to check our mysterious 'leak' in the bedroom. The black marker outlines where a damp patch appeared recently. But when he had chipped the concrete away, he found... nothing! Absolutely bone dry. All very odd, but sort of reassuring... we think.

Tim got him to have a look behind the unit in bathroom, too, to see if we have a leak in there, as it's been smelling rather musty. He discovered the lid wasn't on the cistern properly, but found no leak, so suggested the damp may have been due to condensation. He replaced the lid, and we were reassured - until later in the day when I noticed a small pool of water on the floor behind the loo. Really no idea what's going on. Tim is going to call the guys who fitted the bathroom, to get them to investigate.

Another really busy work day (with another early start) - but got quite a lot cleared. Happy to settle down with an episode of Taskmaster in the evening, and then bed straight after.

*Thus says The Lord God: Peoples of the earth, your atrocities have kindled

a great fire within Me! I am enraged as I look upon all these murdered

innocent! My fury has come up into My face as I look upon all your false

gods, O adulterous and perverse generation! Lo, multitudes of idols fill

every corner; both the believer and unbeliever bow down together and serve

their gods! ALL nations worship the works of their own hands; for they have

placed their own creations and the love of their own ideas above their

Creator! False deities abound, while science and corrupt religion rule over

them; mere theories become truth and doctrine, and lawlessness is widely

accepted! And behold, the love of money has become their new taskmaster,

and materialism their god! Sins of every kind imaginable flow through every

land! Yea, as a mighty river it flows into every nation, reaching unto new

heights in wickedness as the walls are broken down, over-topped by these

quickly rising waters! The levees are eroded from beneath, they are

undermined continually, widening the breach!... Behold, a great flood of

sin has ensued, a terrible deluge covers the face of the whole earth, and

still the fear of The Lord is all but forgotten! THUS THE CUP OF THE WRATH

OF MY FURY IS COME TO THE FULL! Behold My Kingdom comes, and MY will shall

be done on Earth as in Heaven! Even as I had purposed it from the

beginning, so shall it be done to this generation! For My throne is set

high above the highest heavens, and the earth is but a footstool set

beneath My feet! FOR I AM THE LORD! YAHUWAH IS MY NAME!*

*Therefore, let the enemies of The Lord be gathered,Let them be gathered

together in one place for judgment!Let the hills melt in the heat of My

wrath,And the mountains crumble under the weight of My fury!... LET THE

WHOLE EARTH BE BOWED DOWN!...Until everything high and lofty is brought

down,And every stronghold of man is broken and collapses with a great

crash;Until every nation is plowed like a field, and every city is left in

ruinous heaps!... Says The Lord.*

Ahh February. When real italians kill the fattened pig and make themselves a year's worth of sausages, prosciutto, capicollo, prosciuttino, salami.... 700 lbs of pork (yes. THAT much. my zio- right in picture, is a freakin hero. or a taskmaster. you decide), and 12 hours and lots of wine and jokes and sweat and espresso and loud cousins and food secrets and family meals and porkfat my GOD the mountains of PORKFAT later, you have the sausages.

Let the adventure begin.

Oh, above is my zia Franca. I adore her. She is a saint, as all Nonna's are. In fact, she doubles as my superhero in gold hoop earrings and housecoat by night. Seriously, i love her so much i think i might burst. yup that much. i may gripe and complain about restaurants or food events, but as far as i am concerned-

her food is ALWAYS perfect and she is ALWAYS fabulous and it will ALWAYS be that way. :) period. even if she served mudcakes for dinner. i'd find a way to justify to you that i needed the protein anyhow. and that it was the best mudcake the world had seen. ever.

Illustration from "La Sainte Bible : Ancien Testament . . . / Compositions par J.-James Tissot"; with preface by Antonin Gilbert Sertillanges (1863-1948), introduction by Maurice de Brunoff (1861-1937) and the translation into French of Isaac-Louis Lemaistre de Saci (1613-1684). 2 volumes. Paris: M. de Brunoff & Cie, 1904. The illustrations were originated by James Tissot (1836-1902) who sketched as he read Scripture.

The edition, of which 561 copies were printed, contains 360 mounted colour, black-and-white and duo-tone illustrations in the text and 40 plates in three states: sepia-tone, partly hand-coloured, and finished coloured state. The plates are protected with captioned tissue-guards. The paper size is 15.75 x 13 ins; image size varies (circa 8.5 x 5.5 ins).

The paintings for all 400 Illustrations were based exclusively on the complete sketches (the inspiration being entirely Tissot's). The first 200 illustrations covering the Book of Genesis through to the story of Jephthah's daughter in the Book of Judges were painted by Tissot. The last remaining 200 illustrations were painted after Tissot's death in 1902 by Henri Bellery-Desfontaines, Auguste François Gorguet, Charles Hoffbauer, Louis van Parys, Michel Simonidy and Georges Bertin Scott.

The hive is so distant today

(A gazillion wing beats one way)

And have you seen the webs of late

(Lost Jane this morning, a good mate)

I honestly don't usually shirk

(But lately it's work, work, work)

I'd hoped to avoid being seen

(Please I beg you don't tell the Queen)

She's such a hard taskmaster

(Quick, hurry, faster, faster)

You would think it was late fall

(With the urgency put on all)

In the sun just one more minute

(And then I'll get right back to it)
