Olana State Historic Site was the home of Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900), one of the major figures in the Hudson River School of landscape painting. The centerpiece of Olana is an eclectic villa composed of many styles, difficult to categorize, which overlooks parkland and a working farm designed by the artist. The residence has a wide view of the Hudson River valley, the Catskill Mountains and the Taconic Range. Church and his wife Isabel (1836–1899) named their estate after a fortress-treasure house in ancient Greater Persia (modern-day Armenia), which also overlooked a river valley.
This is an iPad painting, made on an iPad Pro, with an Apple Pencil. This image went a thousand different directions, with iColorama, Tangled FX, and Percolator. It started as another person, but kept calling out to Kathleen – in the mid nineteen fifties, in Ridgefield, Connecticut, at the Gorham Mansion. It may have been called something else, Kathleen would remember. ”Kathleen will remember'" is something we have been saying for most of my life. I am the five years younger sister, and was a wee one, then.
First, I want to thank you all for your wonderful birthday wishes. Of course, I chose the best selfies out of the one hundred that I took the day before my birthday, who wouldn't, wouldn't you? (these last two questions were stolen from Gershwin's "The Man I Love")
Second, sorry for all these Fall pics, they're so last month, but I have to confess that November 1st, 2015 was the most beautiful Fall day of all my life. I mean ALL MY LIFE! I went crazy, literally. And, as you may have learned by now, cemeteries are one of my very favourite places to visit. Spring and Fall colours in cemeteries are even more spectacular than they usually are, I guess it's the fertilizer!

I am back after a week of not having a computer! My macbook gave out but now have a huge desktop and can enjoy everyones photos even more!
I edited and processed this on iPad with iClorama & TangledFX.
I haven't been out and about today due to another, continual, rainy day!! I was playing around on my iPhone and grabbed this shot of four forks and then processed them on my Tangled FX App giving the photo a little abstract look ... I hope!!

SUKKAHS IN WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN
Those balcony-like structures attached to the building are called sukkahs, temporary huts constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot. They are a reminder of the huts that gave shelter to the Israelites following their supposed escape from Egypt. I had never seen them before, probably because I had never been in NYC during these holidays, until this last trip.

Tropical Greenhouse
The elegant octagonal structure was originally built at Major's Hill Park in downtown Ottawa and moved to the Farm in 1938 to be used for horticultural research. Now a heritage building, it became a tropical garden open to the public in the 1970s.
