Slowly the summer comes to an end. On this day, my wife and I visited an ice cream parlor in the neighboring town of our place of residence.
And here we met Giorgia. She immediately caught our attention because of her friendly, sympathetic nature. The positive energy she radiated was wonderful.
It was obvious to win Giorgia for the project The Human Family. Without hesitation Giorgia was ready to become part of the project. To break the ice, we talked first. (Haha, ice breaking inside the ice cream parlor!)
Giorgia is from Italy, more specifically from Treviso. In the summer she works in the ice cream cafe of her relatives. In winter it goes back to Italy. Giorgia has been in Germany for 2 years.
What she really likes in Germany is the structured life and organization here. This is a bit different to Italy, whete it is a bit more chaotic. Giorgia loves gastronomy, she is a cook, has worked in a restaurant, but is also a dance teacher (Latin American, Tap Dance, Tango and Rock'n Roll). Unfortunately, here she has not enough time to continue her work in this domain.
I asked Giorgia how she would describe herself. She replied, I love animals, I have a cat, I am a strong person, with open and positive thinking. Respect for other people is very important to me. But I'm also so straightforward and honest to say right away if something is not right and does not work.
Giorgia made a very happy impression on us. The question of whether she was happy, Giorgia answer with „yes“ immediately. Giorgia said: However, luck does not come by itself, but you have to invest a lot of energy and work for it. But the most important thing is that you have to find happiness in yourself.
Do you have a life motto, was my next question. Yes, my motto is: let all the life be unflettered howl.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Giorgia: In 10 years I would like to have a family and children and own my own little restaurant.
My last question to Giorgia: what do you want to give people of your age along the way? Young people should commit themselves to achieving specific goals in order to keep an eye on their path and to get where they want to go, Giorgia replied.
After this little interview, we switched to the terrace of the ice cream parlor. There was nothing going on and we were able to take pictures undisturbed for the project. I immediately realized how much fun Giorgia had to stand in front of the camera. No trace of shyness or uncertainty. It was a great pleasure and Giorgia liked the result of our little spontaneous shoot. As I still had time and Giorgia had such a great time at posing, the idea was quickly born to take even more pictures. From her uncle, the head of the ice cream parlor, Giorgia got the permission to spend some time in front of my camera. The result follows here later, I can only reveal now that it was a wonderful encounter and we created great photos. It was a fortunate coincidence that everything, but really everything, worked out so well.
In the next few days, Giorgia will make her way to Italy. All I have to say is: see you again and bye, bye, Giorgia!
I wish Giorgia a good and safe journey, all the best in Italy and good luck for your future. We stay in touch and I am happy if we can see each other again in the spring of next year. Best wishes, dear Giorgia.

Langsam geht der Sommer zu Ende. An diesem Tag besuchten meine Frau und ich nochmal ein Eiscafe in der Nachbarstadt von unserem Wohnort. Lieblingseisdiele. Und hier begegneten wir Giorgia. Sie fiel uns sofort aufgrund ihrer freundlichen, sympathischen Art auf. Die positive Energie, die sie ausstrahlte, war wundervoll. Da lag es doch sehr nahe, Giorgia für das Projekt, THF zu gewinnen. Giorgia war sofort bereit, Teil des Projektes zu werden. Um das Eis zu brechen, unterhielten wir uns zuerst.
Giorgia kommt aus Italien, genauer gesagt aus Treviso. Im Sommer arbeitet sie in dem Eiscafe der Verwandtschaft mit. Im Winter geht es zurück nach Italien. Giorgia ist seit 2 Jahren in Deutschland. Was ihr sehr gefällt in Deutschland ist das strukturierte Leben und die Organisation hier. Das ist in Italien etwas anders, etwas chaotischer. Giorgia liebt die Gastronomie, sie ist Köchin, aber auch Tanzlehrerin ( Latein-amerikanisch, Stepptanz, Tango und Rock‘n Roll) Leider fehlt ihr hier die Zeit, sich in diesem Bereich weiter zu verwirklichen. Ich fragte Giorgia, wie sie sich beschreiben würde. Sie antwortete, ich bin eine starke Person, offen und positiv denkend. Der Respekt vor anderen Menschen ist mir sehr wichtig. Ich bin aber auch so direkt und ehrlich, sofort zu sagen, wenn etwas nicht richtig ist und so nicht geht.
Giorgia machte auf uns einen sehr sehr glücklichen Eindruck. Die Frage, ob sie glücklich sei, beantworte Giorgia sofort mit ja. Allerdings kommt das Glück nicht von alleine, sondern man muss viel Energie und Arbeit dafür investieren. Das wichtigste ist aber, dass man das Glück in sich selber finden muss.
Hast du ei Lebensmotto, war meine nächste Frage. Ja, mein Motto ist: let all the life be an unflettered howl.
Wo siehst du dich in 10 Jahren? Giorgia: In 10 Jahren möchte ich eine Familie und Kinder haben und mein eigenes kleines Restaurant besitzen.
Meine letzte Frage an Giorgia: was möchtest du Menschen in deinem Alter auf den Weg mitgeben: Junge Leute sollten sich zur Erreichung konkreter Ziele verpflichten um ihren Weg nicht aus den Augen zu verlieren und um auch dort anzukommen, wo sie hinwollen.
Nach diesem kleinen Interview wechselten wir auf die Terrasse des Eiscafes. Es war nich nichts los und wir konnten ungestört die Fotos für das Projekt machen. Ich merkte gleich, wieviel Spass Giorgia hatte, vor der Kamera zu stehen. Von Scheu oder Unsicherheit keine Spur. Es war eine große Freude und Giorgia gefiel das Ergebnis unseres kleinen spontanen Shootings. Da ich noch Zeit und Giorgia am Posieren so große Freude hatte, war schnell die Idee geboren, noch weiter zu fotografieren. Von ihrem Onkel, dem Chef des Eiscafes, erhielt Giorgia, die Erlaubnis, noch etwa Zeit vor meiner Kamera verbringen zu dürfen. Das Ergebnis folgt hier später, ich kann nur jetzt schon so viel verraten, dass es eine wundervolle Begegnung war, bei der tolle Fotos entstanden sind. Es war eine glückliche Fügung, dass alles, aber auch wirklich alles so toll gepasst hat.
In den nächsten Tagen wird Giorgia sich auf den Weg nach Italien machen. So bleibt mir nur zu sagen: auf Wiedersehen, Giorgia!
Ich wünsche Giorgia eine gute und sichere Reise, alles Gute in Italien und viel Glück für ihre Zukunft.

the talented gocchin takes some amazing self-swap splitzer shots in black and white, and when he suggested that we try these as a film-swap, i was more than happy. he's not on flickr, but you can check out the lomography site for his work.. in this image, gocchin shot the top half (hong kong skyscrapers) and i shot the lower frame only, with my son felix on the beach in hove. we didn't confer on subjects, just agreeing that he would shoot top half frame and i would shoot lower half frame. (due to flickr glitches this was put up and taken down yesterday..)

My talented wife took this shot of a rainbow over the port city of Roseau on the island of Dominica last week with a point and shoot camera .... proof positive that it is not the equipment, but the person behind the camera that makes the difference.
This image was made on the first morning of a photographic weekend away with a bunch of obsessive, but talented landscape photographers. Dav Thomas, Rob Hudson, Hamish Roots, Tim Parkin, Adam Clutterbuck and David Baker, Russell Turner, Jon Swainson. Not only did we talk (and drink) to the early hours, but we also effortlessly dragged our hung-over beings out each morning at dawn! Being with other photographers, in such a wondrous location was a real pleasure! Not only did we all obsessively talk about each and every type of interesting topic you can imagine, but we also put the talk into practice and squeezed every last drop of light out of each day!
I’m sure we all took different interpretations away from the weekend, but the special thing for me ironically was not the location, but the company! Thanks guys for such a cracking time!

I have this dream of learning to play the violin. I even got one "lent" to me. I picked it up like... once. Sigh. I have always really really wanted to learn to play an instrument. And I go and get an instrument and try it out and get all self-conscious and lose any desire to play it. Well not quite. I still really want to be able to play it, I just want to skip the learning process and get to the talented stage. And unfortunately it doesn't work that way. So yeah. Have instrument, can't play.
But I do think that Marco looks spectacular posing with it. They have a lot in common - IGs and violins ;) Long slender neck, delicate head, and curvy body. Marco also enjoys singing in very high pitched notes.
Also he does a killer head tilt! ;)

Just before diving into my journey of the coast of California known as "Big Sur", I decided to stop off at this cool little Mission just outside of Carmel to explore the interior. These kinds of churches are always a good subject for capturing brackets of frames for HDR creations and this place was just what I was looking for. Its been a while since I cooked one up like this, but I think this one was a perfect example of when it is OK to crank up the grunge a bit.
BTW, I'm sure I haven't mentioned this in a while, but thanks! It gives me great pleasure to share my work, my rambles, and my own expression of the world I see here on the blog, flickr, facebook, twitter, google plus, and where ever else these images make it out there. Its always nice to here from you all and read the comments, see the likes, feel the love, etc :) Thanks for the continued support!

Oh no, that's not possible, they can't get on the plane and disembark in San Francisco without warning. Since I started studying applied art, as advised by my teachers, I have discovered my inner self, and the shy college boy has grown into a splendid, talented woman artist. How am I going to explain to my parents, my long pink hair, my nail extensions, my tattoos, my laser hair removal, and that I am on hrt ?
Oh and shit, I’m doing my part of the deal, I’m super good at college, they’ll just have to endure the shock of the outing !

These were shot with the Nikon D800 E & AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR from Nikon which I keep slung around my neck to capture "behind the scenes" action on the beach! I use a second Nikon D800E with a 600mm TAMRON | SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 zoom to shoot the surfing action! It's on a Gitzo monopod!

It's been quite some time since I've posted anything on Flickr. I've take a bit of a break photographically the past few months, hardly picking up the camera let alone scanning negatives and editing images. The break has been nice. I believe its good to put the camera down for a bit every now and then.
As for my online presence, its been a bit like a ghost lately. My want to be active in the online photographic community still exists, but the noticeable drop off in activity on Flickr since its recent changes has been noticeable. Its killed my motivation to say the least. Anyway, without blabbering on for to long. I may or may not be be posting much online in the future, here or other wise. I do miss the interaction with other talented photographers though.

Obviously, you Milady, received our missive, and was just curious enough to come alone see what it was all on about.
But first, please allow me to force upon you apologies for intruding like this upon you day of Matrimony… but now that you are securely wed, these matters needed to be discussed with the upmost urgency…
Ahhh…I saw you glancing away towards the door, but don’t worry about holding up your wedding party Milady… interesting use of a rather rude appellation that, hold-up I mean….., for you see, your entourage is currently being, let us say, “ entertained” by my fellow friends in a manner that your absence from them will not be dwelt upon for the time being….
Ah, did I just see a shiver along your pretty physique? But as a thief yourself, you should not be aghast by my words…

That you are a dirt poor lass by heritage… having only been posing as a one of wealthy elite to snag your disgustingly wealthy Intendeds affections, and that all of the jewels you have been flaunting in his and the Lord’s family’s face actually were “shall we say…borrowed” from the rather obscenely rich, family less spinsterish old lady, whose bed-ridden condition you became nurse too , after of course, you were able to convince her to discharge the au pair she was at the current time employing!
Hush, I see you want to argue the point, but that photograph you are holding,, one of several I might add, tells you that the proof is in the pudding against any defense you might try to stage!

“Tallie” she blurted out , her anxiety forcing her to say something, anything….
He stopped in his tracks, turned around quizzically, cocking his head in a questioning manner, but said nothing.
“Tallie” she said again without reason , lips now trembling, her whole demeanor shaking.
“The name of the au pair girl was Tallie”
But Lady C.’s words drifted off and died away as he smartly turned heel and walked off , but not before hunching his grey eyes up at her in a rather dismissive fashion at the wretched newly titled lass…..

He left her standing there, dazed and confused…
Slipping down a set of stairs leading to a cellar he made his way through a maze of various objects before he reached a small wooden door. Opening it, he found himself in a seldom used back alleyway.
He stole away down the cobblestone path of the darkened alley, making his way by foot back to his gang’s hideout. Said gang, he figured, should be just now finishing up with trimming a bit of the fat from the wealthy guests.
Cause and effect he marveled wryly as he allowed various thoughts to roll about in his head while he strolled calmly away, making his escape…
Amazing the chain of events that had been set off by the simple discharging of a, seemingly insignificant, au pair girl!

Each year, they give a few up-and-coming NEW bands a shot at the big time. And each year they surprise & amaze us! This great band is one of them! Laura Chavez (above) is immensely talented on lead and rhythm guitar in the Vanessa Collier Band. Vanessa's rockin' band has been invited back for next year and has accepted! Can't wait to see them again next February 2023 on Rock Legends X!
This year they played well in 'their 3 shows' & The Jam! Awesome! Ironically, playing 1 in Boca Raton just off the ship, and we're going!
