He is a great big beautiful dressage horse.

This shot is a signature angle of my friend and talented photographer Rich Hover, who graciously gave me directions on where to find it. Getting this scene for myself has long been on my wish list, and I'm glad I finally made it happen....it for sure won't be the only time!

Viewed from Summit Ave., CSXT train B780 (empty ethanol from Oak Island to the UP in Proviso), led by a UP SD70ACe/ES44AC duo, seems to be floating over the rooftops as it sails northbound over the massive 1222 ft long trestle crossing high above Catskill Creek. Located at about MP 110.3 on modern day CSXT's busy River Sub mainline, the once double tracked trestle was built by the West Shore Railroad (a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York Central System) in 1902. Spanning US Route 9W, the creek and Main Street, it replaced an iron structure dating from around 1883 when the route was opened by predecessor New York, West Shore and Buffalo.

I've been unable to find out its height or who it was designed and built by as well as when the second track was removed. If any of my followers have that information or more that they could share I'd be most grateful.

Here is a link with a story about the original span and an early drawing of that crossing: www.catskillarchive.com/rrextra/brcats.Html

Talented and promising photogrpher in he Portland Metro area.!

Another shot from my recent trip to The Lake District, on a Winter Landscape Photography Workshop with the incredibly talented Mark Littlejohn and Stewart Smith.

On the first day of our workshop, we took a trip out on one of the Ullswater Steamers. The 19th Century steamer 'My Raven' cruises around the lake, between Glenridding and Pooley Bridge.

Conditions were challenging for photography, with high winds, heavy rain and cruising at around 10-11mph. The landscape was constantly changing and the light was flat. But as we stopped to collect passengers at Pooley Bridge, my eyes were drawn to this small copse.

Inspiration

Influenced by Mark's many amazing woodland shots (and also inspired by some other fantastic woodland photographers like Lee Acaster and Russ Barnes), I had a shot in mind. I particularly liked how the light seemed to pick out this single birch tree among its surrounding brothers and sisters.

Hand-held and zoomed in as far as my trusty 70-200mm would go, I fired off almost a dozen shots to maximise my chances of coming away with something half-decent. I opted for a reasonably wide aperture to {a} let in more light and {b} to attempt to soften up the surrounding trees around my focal point. Ultimately, it ended up being pretty pin-sharp across the whole image - Probably a result of the focal distance I was shooting at.

Anyway - I had some fun experimenting with split-toning in Lightroom and I ended up with something I'm personally really quite pleased with!

Water soluble ink and watercolor wash of marketplace in Florence, Italy. Was there on business, lots to paint!

….was sitting there with sketch book and pencil

Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches Watercolour Block. I have finally finished this watercolour, and have decided to stop before I get too bogged down in detail, and lose the spontaneity. Most of this was done using the negative painting method.

Thanks for all your kind comments on the former post of this work in progress. It gave me the incentive to finish faster than I probably would have.

This began as a commission for the very talented Cheep Jokes, In fact this particular shot is of the final build that I delivered to them.

But there was another version along the way, one that we were hoping could become a winning Lego Ideas project. It's not to be though. Despite there being several other Seinfeld IP related projects up on Lego Ideas it was not approved as a project because "unfortunately it refers to a brand or licensed property that doesn’t fit the LEGO Group’s standards for appropriate content or themes."

I'm a little bummed, Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Anyway, yada, yada, yada, I'll drop a few more images here over the next few days and, yeah...

I had a ton of fun with this build, mainly because I had the opportunity to work with talented builders that I respect and admire. This MOC is part of my very first collab, and it was put together by Ems Mocs, from our Italian Community.

We put on ourselves the limitation of building smaller scaled heroes, so that Ems' Villains would truly feel like intimidating foes for our MOCs. It was a fun build, I tried to experiment a little with custom thighs that feature multiple articulations. What inspired the build in the first place are her boomerangs. Overall a fun and enjoyable experience!

The Keukenhof Tulip Park of Holland, “my” Keukenhof, represents for me in Spring, what “my” Château De La Hulpe represents in Autumn : a GLORIOUS and massive Nature Beauty!! Why “massive”: because the Spring in my garden for example, appears in steps –first the tiny white campanulas, then the adorable Crocuses, then the golden Narcissi, then the bright red Tulips, then Cherry Trees, etc!! Whereas in Keukenhof, my heart stops beating the moment I enter: the WHOLE of the Glory of Springtime is springing all around me!!!! Simultaneously!!! All spring Nature is IN there!! From tiny plants like Anemones, to Cherry Trees, Rhododendrons, Lilacs!! There are even all sort of Begonias, Hydrangeas and Lilies beautifully growing in the three huge glasshouses… And human words are not enough descriptive for the utmost Beauty created in there by THE Artist and His human talented …..collaborators!!

*** My Keukenhof photos that you will be seeing from now on are from previous years .. You will see the new ones by the end of April.

A talented Flickr artist commented in one of her titles a while ago that people who leave quotations from other people are too dim to come up with their own. I totally disagree. There are profound truths from the past that have been stated beautifully and still apply today. I think that repeating them serves 2 purposes ~ encourages viewers to ponder some philosophical point while they view a photo, and reminds us that there are lessons to be learned from the past, lest we repeat the mistakes of the past.

This talented macaw can make rolls out of flat paper with his beak.

His new "mom" has lots of scars from bites while taming him. He's a "2nd hand bird" and had "issues." Now is only issues seem to be "how many ways can I make my "mom" giggle?"

He does a lot of little tricks and loves to run across the floor and hide under the furniture... a sort of peek-a-book.

This is dedicated to Tonya (HAZED), who wrote a beautiful testimony for me. She is a talented photographer and wonderful Mom and has the sweetest daughter in the world! I have so enjoyed watching Randie grow . . . she's the same age as my granddaughter Hannah. Children are precious and Tonya captures Randie's innocence so beautifully through her photography.
