It has been a long loooong time since I uploaded a painting in here...
I haven't done much and the few paintings that I've done are not too good.
this is something that I wanted to try for a while...
Just wanted to try textures,this is the first sketch and it basically an experiment...
I'm happy with it,but I really should keep trying.
I really enjoyed doing it,but it took me way to long to finish it...

After graduating a year later, the life of a child-tanker is one of sex and danger, these guys often get in excess of three valentines cards a year and can often be found behind the bike shed...
Pictured are Tim (L) and Gareth (R) standing next to their new tank, the Humpy Hippo III. They're one man down after their driver was immolated in the destruction of the Humpy Hippo II.

this is a watercolor I painted from a photograph I took in a Restaurant...
It was a nice set up on the wall,a weathered pot of some kind.
I really loved the Dramatic shadows created by the sun...
the incredible contrast of dark and light was what caught my attention..
it is a 12"x16" painted on Arches (cold Pressed) and was painted on Oct. the 28th '13.

I've been working in this piece for a while...
I started it a few months ago but has been a slow process.
we were walking in the woods when I spotted this forgotten shoe on the side of the walkway.
I always have my camera with me (you never know when your going to find something interesting) and took a few pictures of it.
When I downloaded the photos,I was really surprised that I had taken some really nice pictures of the shoe and decided to paint it...
There was a lot of light in the leaves of the plants and many "Blurry" shapes,that is what I've been struggling with...
but I think I would not do much to it...

These were shot with the Nikon D800 E & AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR from Nikon which I keep slung around my neck to capture "behind the scenes" action on the beach! I use a second Nikon D800E with a 600mm TAMRON | SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 zoom to shoot the surfing action! It's on a Gitzo monopod!

My awesome, talented friend SassyAngel has made me so many incredibly beautiful gifts, so I wanted to make her one for her b'day which was on 9/20. Finally got it finished. Hope you like it sissy, love you to pieces! See my sassyangel tag if you'd like to see the other piece of I have done of her.
When I was a young man living in Perth, Western Australia, my best friend was the incredibly talented, now New York fashion and iconic beauty photographer Patric Shaw. We were relentless in our pursuit of our photographic vision. Patric went to tech and studied visual arts including photography, and I went to uni and studied rocks. But we kept on shooting together.
Patric urged me to try a studio model shoot, as he loved them and I had little experience in the studio. We knew two spectacularly beautiful sisters, and I asked one of them, the absolutely wonderful, flawless beauty Michelle Dodd, to be my muse and model for a fashion shoot. I guess she was about 18 to my 20 years. She and I visited a bunch of boutiques and borrowed (yes, borrowed, no money was exchanged, all conducted on trust) a bunch of outfits. I can't remember who's studio it was (probably Perth School of Arts) but my records show that I shot 3 spectacular rolls of Agfapan (2 of 100 ASA and 1 of 400 ASA speed - that's ISO these days) on my trusty and even then ancient Nikon FT with a 50mm Nikkor attached. The negs were all developed in Rodinal (diluted 1:25 according to my notes).
We both smoked like chimneys way back then (didn't everyone?) and the shoot was a great success. The outfits were returned and we both felt great and wanted to work together again.
The shot above was printed in two sections on the biggest paper I could afford, mounted and made into an almost life size (5 foot long!) image. It was huge, and she was beautiful. It disappeared in one of my many Canberra house moves some years later, and I would love it to magically reappear if anyone knows its present whereabouts.

This was shot on Thursday, 5th May 1977. I wasn't even 21 yet, I can't believe it was so long ago.
This image was really difficult to scan and produce - scanned on my Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED with drivers suitably modified to allow it to still work in Windows 10 in the 64 bit environment. Because of the way it was lit, there is very little contrast between Michelle and the white seamless background (her outfit here was of course also white) I have slightly lifted her by changing the background brightness after masking her out - a really long and fiddly process.
I would love to know what you think of this fashion image shot 42 years ago. I might then process some more...
