Sorry that this is so lengthy, but I wanted to share the iprocess and information. We were lucky enough to be part of an Osprey tagging group - courtesy of an auction bid that we won from the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center www.nhnature.org/programs/project_ospreytrack/. Among those we joined were Iain MacLeod, Director of the center, Chris Martin - NH Fish and Game biologist and osprey expert Rob Bierregaard, who has tagged 91 osprey throughout his career. What a process it is...and of course it is hit or miss as with anything involving wild animals. The goal was to tag a male osprey who was at a nest in Bristol NH. We waited from a distance, and waited, and listened as the female called out to the male - she was hungry and wanted to eat. She sat on the nest and kept the 3 eggs warm. Male and female take turns, although the male osprey is the one who leave in search of fish. He finally showed up to bring her fish - a good sign.

Now it begins (I hope I get it right :)). The male gives the female the fish. She eats fish for about 20 minutes and then leaves the nest when the bucket truck starts up and moves towards the nest. The eggs are exposed and need to be kept warm. Rob rides the bucket up to the nest, replaces the real eggs with fake eggs and places the real eggs in an "incubator" to keep them warm. He then places the "trap" over the entire nest and secures it in place. He comes back down and brings the eggs over to us so we can see them. Now we wait in hopes that the male will see that the (fake) eggs are exposed, land on the nest and get "stuck". But instead, the female flew back and got "stuck", so Rob went back up in the bucket truck and brought the female down to be weighed. He put her in a strait jacket thingy that keeps her calm and manageable, and she also has a cover placed over her eyes which also calms her. She was tagged in 2011. Chris spotted the male on some branches which was a good thing, but now we had to wait and see if the male would land on the nest now that the (fake) eggs were exposed again. We were in luck! After some time, the male osprey landed on the nest and got "stuck". Rob went back up in the bucket to get him. He also removed the trap and placed the real eggs in the nest. They brought the male over to be weighed and measured and released the female so she could go back on the nest if she chose to. Back to the male - Rob placed the transmitter on the male - really interesting process - .the transmitter is kind of tied around and secured on to the osprey - it is not stuck in to him or anything like that....and then he was released. It was amazing to see these beautiful ospreys up close. The blindfold thingy actually fell off twice as the male was being fitted with the transmitter so we got to see his beautiful eyes. It was a once in a lifetime experience and we were both in awe during the entire process

My favorite FlickrFriend Carol - Grey MAre got me. As per the rules, I took the photo this morning as I was waiting for my daughter to get ready for school. I didn't realize until I loaded it up tonight that my camera was set on 1600ISO from some night tests the day before. So i figured in PP I would just push the limits and see how much noise I could get and still be recognizable.

I have a few ideas of who I will tag but haven't finalized my list yet. If you are reading this because I'm a contact, it's a pretty safe bet you probably are about to be tagged........

I was tagged by A Mancub for the 16 things someone wants to know about me.

I have tagged: Zach_ManchesterUK, [ Mà ], SSynth, sharkoman.

(let's see who will do it...)

Here it goes:

1. I died in a motorbike crash when I was 19; they took me back and now I have a few scars. I would not give away any single one of them.

2. I have a PhD in Modern Foreign Languages / History of Cinema; my final discussion was titled "For Sadists Only" and was about Hammer (horror) Films

3. I tried to avoid photography since when I was a child. In the end, it seems like photography did get hold of me.

4. I have been smoking since I was 16 until I was 38. 4 years ago I quit (cigarettes, I mean), but I am aware I still am a smoker because once you become one, you'll stay one even after quitting.

5. I have had 2 serious love affairs. Will never stop looking for the third chance.

6. I have been a singer, and released 3 albums and a handful of singles. Some are collectable vinyl items, one album is still available on iTunes.

7. I have been practicing some sports when I was younger: judo, karate, swimming, various minor things. Then my back got ruined in the Accident (see point 1). Bye-bye sports, hello bearness!

8. I am an egotist. But I need to give too, if you let me.

9. I have three names: Alessandro, Alberto, Antonio. My family name comes from my Sicilian granddad; the first time I went to Sicily I was already about 35 and I fell on my knees, in love, the day I took an orange from a tree and ate it realizing I had no idea about what an orange really was before this.

10. I am lazy and I hate it.

11. I started having sex soon (trust me, it was soon) and I have known myself to be gay since I was a child; I never really went through any crisis, doubt, questioning about it in my whole life. I consider myself a damn lucky person because of this.

12. I was born 9 days late on Jan 24th, 1966. I just was not giving any sign of wanting to come out of my mother's womb, so they had to cut her and take me out once I had broken and drank the waters. I was then born an Aquarion instead of Capricorn.

13. Two years ago I decided I would grow a beard and I love it so much now.

14. I hate stupidity more than anything else.

15. I tend to have a need for trusting people.

16. I fuc*ing hate mr. Berlusconi - and not only because he is terribly, terribly stupid.

ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 12, 2011) - Governor Martin O'Malley today promoted James A. Adkins to the rank of major general in a private ceremony in the Governor's office under the historic portrait of General John Stricker. Maj. Gen. Adkins has served as adjutant general of Maryland since 2008 and also served as the state's secretary of veterans affairs until 2009.

"This is an outstanding personal achievement for Maj. Gen. Adkins," said Governor O'Malley. "His professional insight and strategic intuition have served Maryland well these last few years, and this promotion is well deserved."

As the state's 28th adjutant general since 1794, General Adkins is responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, programs and plans for 7,000 men and women who make up the state of Maryland Military Department. The Military Department includes the Maryland

Army National Guard, Maryland Air National Guard, Maryland Emergency Management Agency and the Maryland Defense Force. The Department employs more than 7,100 full-time and traditional Guard members and civilian state employees, contributing more than $353 million annually to Maryland's economy.

The Maryland National Guard is tasked at both the federal level by the president of the United States and at the state level by the governor to defend our country and state. Since 9/11, almost 9,000 Maryland Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen have been called to serve on active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and a wide range of natural disaster recovery efforts.

In 1993, the Maryland National Guard joined with Estonia in the State Partnership Program. The SPP was launched in Europe as part of the initial outreach by the United States to new democracies in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. The partnership program emphasizes civil and military cooperation with civilian control of a professional military.

Maryland has a key role in this international initiative to foster democracy, encourage market economies and promote regional cooperation and stability. In 2003, Maryland was selected to partner with Bosnia and Herzegovina, in part because of the state's previous success with Estonia.

The Maryland National Guard now has approximately 200 Soldiers and Airmen deployed overseas in a variety of theaters including Afghanistan, Iraq, Djibouti and others. Within the next six months, it will have up to 1,000 Servicemembers deployed in peacekeeping, combat and support roles--the most it has had deployed since World War II.

Beate tagged me. Help!

She asked me to show something on a picture, which is important for me, and to explain why.

These are the wild and free and happy shores of my childhood (picture is from 2005).

I grew up (almost!) on a beech, I went for gold in the brook, I roamed through the forest - and loved it. Sun, snow, rain, verdancy, the forest, silence, freedom. Thats why I am so filifjonkisch.

What shall I do now?

I´m tagging back!

Minha primeira tag aqui no flickr (:

Fui indicada pela Patii Nails para escolher meu top 15 e eu amei fazer essa seleção dos esmaltinhos!!

Vamos começar... (eles não estão em ordem de preferência)

1. Bem Casada - Ana Hickmann : Aquele rosa delicado, que combina com tudo. Um pouco difícil de passar, exige 3 camadas, mas nada impossível.

2. Show - Risque : Verde petróleo (?).

10. Expression Of Night 3D - Top Beauty : Minha alma drag precissava de um brilho. E o EON faz um brilho hipnotizador no sol. Amei demais.

11. Mística - Lorena : Um queridinho. Roxo mais lindos dos roxos.

12. Absinto - Colorama : Verdinho fofo, fácil de passar e fica lindo. Deu até vontade de repetir. Parece ser o "Jade fake" perfeito.

From the Fuzz One collection: djfuzzone@yahoo.com

4) Ata-me, Extase - superou as minhas expectativas e tomou o lugar do Paparazzi no meu top.

9) Naomi, AH - marrom perolado combina comigo.

10: There are 9 interesting facts before this :P

I was Tagged by Lisa =) It was very fun to do it, so here you go:

1.- Carl Sagan is one of my most beloved heroes. I love how he talks about very complex things like it's some kind of beautiful poetry. It's his fault i like most of the things I do today. Bless him for Cosmos.

2.- I suffer from short term memory which it's awesome! I can enjoy stories and especially movies over and over again!!! I don't remember the scary bits and never ever remember the finale. So i can watch the same thing and get really scared of all the same bits. It also helps a lot with icky (not pleasant) memories about every day things. Let's say I'm like 'Dory' from Nemo =).

3.- I fall asleep anywhere i get comfy, every time *blushes*. It can be in a middle of a conversation, it can be in the middle of a very good movie, anywhere... Oh and it happens in a second too, no matter how hard i try to keep myself awake.

4.- I loooooooooooove to mix food! I love how you can get lost when mixing different flavors in your mouth. My all time favorite is Banana Roll, which is an incredible Sushi Roll (veggie roll, i don't like fish) with avocado, cream, cucumber, algae, rice and wrapped in fried bannana. Of course the mix is only perfect when i summerge this in my own soy sauce recipe with a lot of lemon. I can go to heaven and stay there for ages when i eat this. I crave for banana and coffee every day and my new found love is Crumpets with butter, honey and grapefruit ...omg!!

5.- I love horror movies, books and TV series. I can't think of my faves right now because of point No. 2 but i enjoy being scared with this kind of things. Not in real life or by real scary situations. Aliens, ghosts, vampires (of course) and zombies are amazing!

6.- I love comics and the people who like them but i have only been loyal to a mexican one. Karmatron y los Transformables, it's an awesome mix of transformers, martial arts, love, space fights and the classic fight between good and evil.

7.- I love love love to dance but i'm too shy to do it frequently.

8.- I think that my brother and my boyfriend are two of the most talented people in the whole world.

9.- My first crush ever was Tino, one of the kids on Parchis, a musical group from Spain in the 80's. My second crush was Luke Skywalker and my forever crush is Johnny Deep.

10.- I was hit by a car and i was assaulted by a robber with a gun in the same year about 6 years ago. I truly believe in second chances and i truly believe in not being alone. I truly believe that an angel grabed my hand and stayed with me the whole time I was laying on the floor after I'd been hit by the car. I am not a religious person but i do believe that i am not alone and i'm grateful for that.

11.- Until 9 months ago i was sure that i would never be able to find love. It's true what people say that it happens when you least expect it. In my situation, in the most unusual way.

12.- I love love love to watch tv and surf around all the channels. I love cooking shows, travel shows, scientific, historic tv shows etc. I go crazy about Anthony Bourdain, The Big Bang Theory, Globe Trekker, Lost and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

13.- I love going to concerts. Live music is one of my favourite experiences! My most beloved ones: Depeche Mode 4 years ago, Pet Shop Boys about 10 years ago (eeep!) and Linkin Park about 2 years ago . The most desired one is U2...some day...

14.- I love dark chocolate! Don't love milk chocolate. Too sweet!!!!

15.- I can hear a spider crawling on the wall in the dark. Totally true, ask my brother

16.- I love wearing glasses. I have tried to wear contacts but I just don't feel like me. I think its because i can "hide" behind them.

Example of a 2D code 128 barcode.

Originally barcodes systematically represented data by varying the widths and spacings of parallel lines, and may be referred to as linear or one-dimensional (1D).

Later two-dimensional (2D) codes were developed, using rectangles, dots, hexagons and other geometric patterns in two dimensions.
