Yup, I've been tagged by a few while I was away. Yes that means you Amy and Nathan. Even though it was cloudy and slightly raining I tried a photo shoot for a friend and she ended up shooting me. Straight out of the camera. It was hard for me to put up a few photos without doing any HDR processing or symmetry :)
I got tagged by Shawnah and I love doing this kind of thing, so here we go!
1: From all the dolls you own, who is your favourite and why?
Wow, what an impossible question! I don't buy dolls if I don't love them, so I guess they are all kinda my favorite:) That said, I LOVE Soom Little Gems and the creative process that I put into making them my own.
2: Explain how you managed to get into BJD collecting?
I've always collected dolls one way or the other, but that pretty much stopped when I got into university. I came to Japan back in 2003 for uni and somehow stumbled upon Tenshi no Sumika in Osaka. It felt like I'd seen the holy grail of doll collecting, but there was no way I could afford it at the time so I dismissed it. Finally back in October of 2010, after several months of research, I ordered my first girl--Souldoll Katie A. She was the window to everything else, and I love her. Also, I met Shawnah in early 2011 and we've had lots of fun together! Plus I came to love and appreciate Volks dolls. All of my Volks dolls are officially her fault ^_-
3: Name the very first doll you ever bought?
Impromptu, my Katie A., was my first doll. I was looking for something very specific and it took me a long time to get there. I almost bought a Bluefairy Tommy for my first girl, and she's still on my wish list. Impromptu is a character very dear to me, and I'm about to drop a mint to have her older version in iplehouse Bianca. I may also end up with yet another one of her in iple Tania:)
4: Which doll do you plan to buy next?
Iplehouse Bianca, hands down. It's only the second time a doll grabbed me that hard, the first being Soom Adamelli. With that red hair, the freckles, the half military half poor girl story, with the right green eyes...oh wow, am I ever in love with her. I might also end up sending a chunk of paycheck to Volks again if there's a nice tenshi this October...
5: Are you currently waiting on any dolls?
Of a sort. I have a Soom Thera on layaway. I don't think I'll be passing on Soom msd sizes anymore...I've seriously regretted all the ones I've passed on.
6: How many dolls do you currently have?
Er...I have 23, plus a floating head because I'm one Soom body short, and a doll that's outside the count because I mean to sell her. I have Soom Dune, Nor, North, Kivi, Marl, Pel, Obsidius, Migma, and Rosette Fir. From Volks, I have SDGr Jun Tachibana, Rozen Maiden Suiseiseki, Yo Kun, Little Lorina, Tenshi Mamu, Tenshi Mika, Tenshi Ken, and a lucky Sei Tenshi that I won at Kyoto Dolpa. From Souldoll, I have Soulkid Katie A. and discontinued Clara. From iplehouse, I have B.I.D.s Erzulie, Byuri, and Efreet. I also have a Raurencio Stella.
7: Name the very last doll you bought?
Volks Suiseiseki and Souseiseki, practially together, over this past weekend. It was alarming how quickly I loved the mold. As Shawnah pointed out, they are big Mamu, and I love Mamu sooo much! So yeah, Suiseiseki at least is here to stay, and as for Souseiseki, we'll see:)
8: What is the worst thing about this hobby?
I think it brings out a sort of obsessiveness in people if done to excess, and I've been on the wrong end of some very rude people at special events. Some people really will throw you in front of a bus for the chance to buy a special doll, even when you are helping them -_-; Also, of course, the money. I shudder to think how much money I've tanked on this hobby, but it's brought me tons of happiness so I think it's worth it.
9: What is the best thing about this hobby?
I feel like I've learned so much already and it's made me want to learn about so many new crafts. My mom was always an art teacher but nothing ever really inspired me as a medium. These dolls finally are my answer, and I love everything about them--the clothes, the photography, the face-ups...there's so many things to learn! Also, I've had some great experiences and made some awesome friendships through this hobby!
10: Which is your best dolly photo (of yours)?
Hmm, I don't know. I think I still have a lot to learn when it comes to photography! I will say though that I'm fond of the pics I took of Chroniko when she only had half a faceup ^^;
11: Which is your favourite BJD company?
By default I have to say Soom. I love love love their msds, and their clothes are to die for. The aesthetic of their dolls really appeals to me. That said, I have a wishlist for iple dolls a mile long. I love them too and really look forward to having some of their larger sizes someday. And finally, Volks has continued to grow on me, and my wishlist for them is not so short either :P
12: Who are on your wish list?
Oh my god. It's a long list. At the top of easily attainable things are iple Elin twins, iple Tania, and Volks Elena and Rinon. As for not so attainable things, I'd love to have a yo-tenshi Hinata. From Soom, I want all the Little Gems I'm missing: bronze Aphan (as a girl), NS fullset Sueve (I'm losing faith that I will ever find her^^;),human NS Mylo, and Nodia, prolly in CW.
13: Are there any dolls you wished you had never purchased?
Nope. I've had fun with all of my dolls. I loved my Leeke dolls but they just didn't fit my collection at all. Probably the one I fought the most was Soom Amphibel. She drove me up the wall, but I ended up trading her for a gorgeous Migma so it's all good.
14: Who's your favourite face up artist/s?
I love meggilu! Her freckled faceups are to die for, and I hope to send one of my dolls to her someday. For more serious faceups I like angeltoast. I'm also fond of Nomyens after seeing her work in real life.
15: What is a must when considering a purchase/pose ability/faceup/age/etc?
Probably I don't have enough criteria for making a purchase ^^; But honestly, a doll has to really grab me, and to at least loosely fit a character I have in mind. The exception is the Soom Little Gems. I get them, then decide which character they are, and then sometimes they get ideas during the faceup and I learn things about their personality that I didn't know myself. I really don't want to get anything bigger than what I have now though...70 cm is just way too much for my space constraints. My tallest doll is SD17 size and that's plenty for me!

So what I understand is to write something about myself..oh well here we go:
1- I am a Malaysian currently live in Japan to accompany my husband who is doing his 2nd year phD here. This year is our 8th year in Japan. I miss my family, my hometown, and of course Malaysian food so much but we enjoy our life here :) Its just that my son cannot stand the dry weather here and it is the big cause of his eczema disease makes me want to go back ASAP.
2-I was born in Terengganu but after that I was grown up in Selangor, just went back to Terengganu once a year to celebrate Hari Raya so when people ask where am I from I always get confused to answer Terengganu or Selangor..but usually I will answer Terengganu;)
3-I love to take pics since I came to Japan. I didnt know anything about DSLR until last June.
4- My cameras:
♠ Konica (Film type)-2001 (gave to my brother)
♠ Fuji Fine Pix -2003 (still have it but not using coz I left the charger in Msia)
♠ Canon Ixy 2000 is - April 2008 (sold to my Junior 3 months later)
♠ Nikon DSLR D60 - June 2008 (traded in with our D200)
♠ Nikon DSLR D200 - Aug 2008
5- We love our D200, its heavy and very comfortable with our hands. I know expensive cameras are not important to get nice pics but like Mr Jeff I have a dream to get D700 or maybe D3..hehehe...and also expensive lenses...I dont think I can afford them but I hope miracles happen one day hehe..
6-I was laughed by my senior one day when we were going outing I was asking myself "hmm which lens should I bring today". My senior laughed and said " Liya, other women normally ask which handbag to bring but you are asking which lens to bring?" hahaha
7-Like Mr Jeff also I dont really like to read since I get married and came to Japan because I enjoy surfing internet so much. Usually I only read or get any info from the internet. Maybe because I studied to much during my study years.
8- My husband wants me to further my study but I dont want to. I also dont want to work outside, I have a dream to work at home doing online biz, which I am currently working on it now.
9-I have a degree in Electronic Engineering from Hokkaido U, Jpn. (grad on 2005).
10- I love baking cakes, but I dont like to decorate them. Its difficult.
11- I love to edit photos. I usually use photoshop cs3, Lightroom 2.3 and photoscape.
12-I love kids but I cant stand too naughty kids. I easily get angry when my 1st son gets too naughty and uncontrollable. I even sometimes punish him using a stick.
I know its not good but I am a normal human being;)
13- I love to travel. I have been to Paris and some parts of UK. I love Scotland the most. Next I should think to go to Mekkah before going to other places.
14- I am not good in handling stress and temper. I easily get angry and usually end up with crying to release it.
15-I want to have at least 4 kids. But not now pls..huhu
16- I always think of die..I always feel scared when I heard someone died from sickness or accidents and it makes me wonder how and where and when I am going to die but I dont really prepare for it, I do sins almost everyday..hmm apo nak jadi lah..huhu.., I have a dream to be a better Muslim but again I am a normal human being..
17-I am a proud breastfeeding mom :)
18- I love Thrill and horror movies.
19-I am easily inspired by other people.
20- I am unfocused person, and not systematic too.
21- I suffered from aneroxia nervosa when I was 14 years old. I managed to cut my weight from 42 to 32 kg in 1 month. It started because my aunties always teased me saying that I was chubby..oh yes I am sensitive hehehe
22- I am so grateful to have a loving and kind husband and2 cute kids, I love them so much and I always pray that Allah always be with them to protect them from any danger:)
23-My fav food: sushi, cheese cake, doughnuts, char kuew tiow, pizza, roti canai telur, ice cream and chocolates..but actually I love to eat everything that is halal :D

Not a perfect picture but I wanted to show them ;A;
Today my tags arrived for the planned Blythe customs, from #0-#20 (#0 is a special tag for Roterwolkenvogel :B).
They are actually a completely matte black (like the ones in the background) but the light obviously reflects on their surface.
Everyone of my customs will get such a tag.
Since the name of my shop and collection is "In Tentationem" - In Temptation, the customs will be called "Temptations" to fit into the whole concept.
I think that's a pretty nice name for them, it fits my shop AND the image of a doll being a temptation for a maybe future owner.
Every future owner will be able to choose whether the tag should be attached to one of the pull strings or will be simply attached to a little chain and included into the box.
Not sure yet if I'll change the color for every batch of the next 20, but first I need to finish these ones ;)
Tags are made of metal, the text has been lasered onto the surface to make sure it will last, and the surface itself is a matte deep black.
They are pretty thin and light so they won't be too heavy at the end of the string.
Their size is a bit bigger than a default pull ring, I wanted the text to be good readable and I wanted a bit of space in case I'd ever reach the 100+ :P

Was at a local Toy convention and AS had their booth there. First time I ever saw a BJD or even knew BJD existed. Game over since then!

1. I'm 26, think my star sign is cancer
2. I've been happily settled down for 7 years but have no plans to marry or have kids (yes,very boring)

4. I struggle to come up with interesting facts about myself.
5. I've built more MOC's in the last 6 months than the last 2-3 years.

7. I'm an atheist and can't see anyone coming up with a good enough argument to change my views(go on...try it)
8. Despite being owner, CEO, and chief of design and research for the shipyards, I have never had a maritime related job. I've been at sea only a handful of times. I used to be an avid surfer though.
9. I have no head for maths at all, I'm terrible at it.
10. I'm an excellent shot with a rifle, but couldn't hit a barn door with a pistol (at 300m be afraid, at 10m you're probably ok)

5. I like gardening as well. I currently only have a lucky bamboo plant, cause it might bring me luck!! :D

7. I need a hamster carrier and some syringes for emergencies..... carrier would be to bring the hammy to the vet, and syringes are to keep the hammy hydrated.
8. I use Pantene Nature Fusion Moisture Balance shampoo and conditioners. (not a 2 in 1) It's so far the best I've used!!
9. I like spaghetti.
10. I love visiting the beach.

1) I've got a bad jones for gooey butter, a St. Louis Ukranian confection..
2) I did hospice work for years after having been a respiratory therapist with the thought of taking kids with terminal illnesses and specifically ones with cystic fibrosis outdoors for camping and spending their remaining days underneath the stars and planets.
3) I did two outward bound courses with that in mind, was encouraged to take the instructors course to work with older participants but got married instead and went to Japan to practice with a Roshi who does hospice work in addition to training monks.
4) I spent six winter seasons doing solitary retreats on a mountain behind a zen monastery in japan. we have a zendo in our home and have offered sitting for over 25 years.
5) I started drawing and painting after Japan when the Roshi ask me to illustrate a book of his. I went back to the university and got a BFA
6) I have way too many books.. but no plans to cutback. We donate a lotta books each year otherwise we would have been crushed long ago.
7) I don't sleep much (3 or 4 hours a night) and have ADHD but it doesn't make me too weird apart from dancing with the muskrats on full moons.
8) My favorite book is 'Talks with Ramana Maharshi' The sole teaching in advaita vedenta is the inquiry "Who am I?" as in, "Who is the master of the hearing?" or "Who is washing the dishes?"
9) I took Jane (Shotaku on flickr) on a hayride when we were both fourteen years old
and several years later when she returned home from graduate school in 1978 we
moved in together and eventually married. She is four days older than me. Our mothers
shared the same birthday.
10) I love poetry and in high school went to state doing Dylan Thomas' "Under Milkwood" for dramatic interp but my Welsh was weak and like Thomas, I died.

Confession game, here we go!!
1. I started doll hobby in 2007 after half a year of coaxing myself to adopt 1st doll, after various doll meetups (i was in observation mode) and LOTS of research. Sometimes I missed that sensible part of me. I still do research but less often now. OTL
2. Half of my resin crew are dolly version of my collab original characters with friends from 2005-2008. New members are somehow related to those older folks in one way or another. Their linkages are important to bond me with them.
3. Despite the characters I have plotted for them, many times they develop something different out of their own. It's always surprising and enjoyable to observe them build up their personality (in my head, of course.)
4 .Speaking of characters, all of my crew have some little twisted part in them. For example, Miss R loves beating up her hubby (and he loves to be beaten up too!), Ceylon has a teenage crush on Miss R, the Twin Chigusa & Chisato has opposite personality, Darjeeling is a foul mouth beauty, Little Ruri is a rotten spoiled brat, etc. It is more fun this way. xxx
5. Recently I just realize I prefer mature girl dolls than boys. Well, you might already noticed from my gallery. Perfect role models for my girls are those gorgeous Victoria's Secret sexy angels. What? You already knew? XD I still love my boys, tho they are treated second priority and almost never exist in my gallery. #bad owner. (Read on #6 for more pervertness)
6. Confession of a perv. I don't collect small toys or gadgets (aka rements, miniature, stuffed dolls, etc.) But I collect corsets and lingerie for my girls. *poker face* I have enough collections to do a runway show by now. Truth be told, I always have spare undies for giveaway for guests. Girls w/o undies break my heart. If you happen to see me at doll meetups lifting a doll's skirt, I do it with pure good intention, checking if she is properly dressed. #^__^#
7. Name is important. I spent DAYS choosing good names or cracking my brain to piece a nice series of names for sibling characters. But sometimes name just pops up from nowhere and I pick it because I suddenly like it, simply wasting my days of research. orz
8. I wish I had skill for faceup or sewing or making stuff. But that is impossible for me. Luckily, I have artist friends who amazingly can understand my idea from our casual talks and bring out a perfect image for my dolls. *glomp*
9. My golden rule "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder". Always bear in mind not all ppl see or think like you. I may disapprove of your style as well as you may disapprove of mine. Praise when you feel like and refrain from giving self-centered, discouraging comments. Be nice and you'll be treated nice. Simple, practical and peaceful one rule I abide.
10. Earlier I felt a bit uncomfortable to disclose doll hobby to outsiders or IRL friends, family and work colleagues. I have no alias Facebook account for my dollie life (found it too complicated to run double accounts). Later on I run DollWhy.com shop, I can be more confident justifying it as part of my secondary job enough to add dolls to my personal Facebook or talk about it in family gatherings. Surprisingly, feedbacks from IRL friends and family are positive. They like my dolls and respect the artistic side of me. They even gave me small gifts for my dolls. I'm really thankful for their support.

16 things..... I was tagged by Seren....sorry about the edit....but that last list was such a
downer to read LOL
1) My eyes are blue greyish and so far haven't needed glasses (crossing fingers)
2) I was born a blond but I've colored my hair since my late 20s cause it adds volume
and now it grows in darker and lightens in the sun, so I'm stuck with coloring, hehe.
3) I hate the phone. To me it's an annoyance....I'd rather spend time in the same room
then chat endlessley on the phone....it's tool, say your piece and hang up. lol
4) I procrastinate, but work everything out in my head, ahead of time so that I always
get things done when it's crunch time. I wrote all my school papers the night before
they were due...and was A./B. student, so I never felt bad about pracrastination.
5.) I'm a loner....even as a kid I was happier by myself....my imagination was always
my best friend....and I even had an imaginary 'friend' probably partly to cope with my
home life. But, I still prefer my independence.
6) I'm an aquarius.....and while I don't see astrology as an absolute .....from what I've
read about my sign (aquarius with an aries moon) it's pretty dam accurate, scary almost.
7) I once had a fling with a Slovakian sailor while on a cruise down the Danube river....
hehehehehe (well hey, I was 30, I went with my mom and 118 other senior citizens,
and my brother said, Cher, you should just hang out with the crew! LMAO)
8) I've been married once....to a guy I had a crush on in HS...we started dating a year
after graduating....I don't have regrets, but it was a life lesson for me....I'm not a 'wife'.
9) I'm not much of a girly girl, and I'm not a tomboy either....but you wont catch me
running off to a manicurest or buying designer stuff....and flower prints make me gag.
But I look dam good in a little black dress when need be.
10) I am NOT photogenic....people say I'm beautiful....but my features hate the camera,
so with my love of photography, I have dozens of self portraits, trying to capture what
others say they see. It's hit or miss LOL
11) I'll be 41 soon.... and I don't have a wrinkle on my face, but the gray hair isn't being
shy! My skin still acts like a teenager, so that's a blessing and a curse as I get older.
But I still get carded sometimes, hehe.
12) I have a fear of success. I have been told all my life I should be writing, it's my passion.
My HS teacher told me I was a diamond in the rough and he'd never seen work like mine
in an 18yo....... but I cannot seem to take the leap of faith....I write all the time... but it's for me.
13) When I was a kid I wanted to be a psychologist, so did my little cousin. She went on to
get her masters....I didn't finish college, I was bored LOL and burnt out from being the friend everyone came to with problems. But because of my childhood, I'm an extremely good judge
of character.
14) My brother (a musician) says I have perfect rhythm and should have been a dancer or
a base player lol I love to dance, no doubt, but I can't play an instrument, never wanted to.
But I loooove music...it's a drug.
15) I never smoked until I was 37 and moved south from New England.....southerners! lol
16) I never did any kind of hard drug until I was 30....tried E. with a friend of mine, it was
interesting, but I don't like the idea of taking anything that messes with the fluids in my spine!
I smoked weed (well, with effect) at 36 for the first time with a 23yo guitarist friend.....you can
probably fill in the blanks......but classical guitar will always remind me of that guy *sigh*.
