I know of at least one person who appreciates that I showed up this morning, a lady in Spruce Pine dropped her NC Driver's License, Debit Card, and Lighter at this pull out the night before. After I finished shooting Crabtree I put her address into the GPS and headed to her house to drop off her lost items, guess what she said, "Thank God you found my lighter, I had to light my cigarette with the stove!!" Go figure?
Five sets of HDR's containing five exposures each stitched together in Photoshop. We drove about an hour on an extremely rough, narrow, winding, gravel, mountain road to get to this spot, looking over Lake Jocassee.

Standing on a ledge at sunset at Table Rock from Hawksbill in Linville Gorge in Western North Carolina near Asheville and Boone.
Table Rock, Linville Gorge, NC
I'm enjoying looking back on some spring images now that we're in the doldrums of summer. This one was from a couple of years ago. Hawksbill mountain can be seen in the distance over the Carolina Rhododendron.
This was on a very windy day last Spring.
I used a 10-stop ND to slow the exposure down
to 30 seconds.

This was taken at sunset looking almost south. There was just enough of a gap in the clouds to get a jet of light to paint the underside of the clouds with a little color.

This was a lovely dried up plant that I saw a few times along the trail up Table Rock. Even though it's dead(?), I still think it looks beautiful. My mom and sister kept telling me that "This is NOT a picture taking hike!" Although they are very are now glad to have the pictures... :)
An interesting geological formation, a river coursing its way through hard volcanic rock. Its deep pools and cascading water makes for an interesting bathing experience.
