This was taken at Table Rock State Park when we went camping 2 weekends ago. It is hard to get a clean shot of this waterfall because kids play and swim here all the time. The only time there will be no people here is in the evening :) I used my CPL+ND8 and a 30 seconds exposure for this shot...trying to make those kids invisible, but to no avail...they just didn't want to move :).
Have a great start of the week everyone!

This is looking out from the Headlands of Bandon Beach to Table Rock. I was surprised and in a state of wonder to see these very short daisies thriving in this windy and cool place well into August of this unusually hot summer in most other areas of the Pacific Northwest.

This image was taken on a hike near the Grand Targhee Ski Resort. It's still covered in snow right now, but I'm dreaming of going here again this summer. In the distance you will see a flat rock on the top of the peak in front of the Grand Tetons. It's called Table Mountain and is another favorite hike of mine. It's a tradition to hike it every fall due to the incredible breathtaking views.

This is Table Rock and a view down the gorge with clearing morning fog. Every shot I take these days I can't help but think it would be better in a month with some autumn color but who knows what conditions we'll get then.

Sunrise from Hawksbill Mountain, Linville Gorge. The Carolina Rhododendron bloom all along the Linville Gorge in early May each year displaying delicate beauty in an otherwise rugged place.
I was lucky to catch the rhododendron in bloom this year, many were past their peak and starting to fade but I was able to find several that still looked good.

This was from three vertical shots at 6 second each, stitched together in Photoshop because my 24-70mm Lens was not wild enough.

The mighty Table Rock reflecting in Lake Oolenoy on a cold Winter's morning.
Table Rock State Park is one of my favorite places to explore in my local vicinity of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Upstate South Carolina.
Hope you enjoy the view :-)

This is a shot from around this time last year on a morning when the fog seemed to stretch on forever. Table Rock is on the left and the fog filled gorge is just to its right between the ridges.

Had a great time photographing various compositions around the grounds of Table Rock on this cold January day a few years back.
Got several more to share, so be sure to stay tuned.
Hope everyone's having a great week so far!

This sunset image is taken of the Snake River Valley above Ririe, Idaho. The prominent hill in the background center is Table Rock which is not typically seen from this vantage point on a private ranch.

I recently made my first trip up to Table Rock since the fire back in November. I was relieved to see that there were only isolated burnt areas along the trail and not much damage on the top portion that I covered. The serviceberry trees were in bloom which signals the beginning of spring in these parts.

When the Carolina Rhododendrons are in bloom on Hawksbill Mountain, it is truly a beautiful experience. All of this rocky hardscape softened by all of the colorful blooms. If you like this please check out my earlier posts.
Hawksbill located just outside of Linville, NC. Its a steep but short hike of under a mile.

Looking down Linville Gorge with the distinct peak of Table Rock to the left and the flat plateau of Shortoff Mountain far in the rear.
Table Rock is located in the Canaan Mountain Backcountry accessed via a 9 mile forest road from Davis WV. The view is exceptional of the Dry Fork Valley and the Otter Creek Wilderness areas. The trail in is a 2.4 mile out and back through rhododendron thickets, rocks, mud and more mud.

It's an orb, and it's on the Table Rocks at Whitley Bay. Quite precarious getting to them in the dark, but when you get there, they are as flat as a, well, as a table I suppose.

Two of the most recognizable peaks in Western North Carolina, Table Rock and Hawksbill Mountain sit on the eastern rim of Linville Gorge. The fog was so smooth on this morning that I feared it was mixed with smoke. Whatever the case it made for some interesting effects.
Looking westward with a wonderful view of the setting sun from Table Rock Mountain on the east rim of Linville Gorge all the way to Black Mountain, the tallest ridge in the background I sit and contemplate what is ahead and what is behind.
Linville Gorge is a unique and fascinating geologic feature in western North Carolina that has the nickname of the grand canyon of the east. From the top of Table Rock Mountain one can hear waters of the Linville River flowing through the valley almost 2,000 feet below.
These shots were taken along Carrick Creek, part of South Carolina's Table Rock State Park. While the Carrick Creek portion is rather tame, this is also used as a starting point for rigorous hikes to Table Rock and Pinnacle Mountain. It's a great place to begin an adventure.
The destination this weekend was to the crest of Hawksbill Mountain and the ephemerally beautiful Carolina rhododendron that adorns it. I started the trail up to the top around 4 AM and it was evident with my flashlight shining back at me that the mountain was wrapped in fog, or rather cloud, at this altitude. My thoughts were that I might get above it at the top, but no such luck. Energy from the rising sun burned it away, however, leaving fog in the low valleys and a dramatic sky overhead.
That morning progressed from gloom to what led to this image... a good impression of what rises above Linville Gorge, from Wiseman's View across the gorge on the right to Table Rock on the left. You can also see the Black Mountain Range obscured by cloud in the distance on the right, where Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi, lays along its spine.
