I saw a beautiful mid century table through Pinterest and Mini Models was able to recreate it for me. I love it with the Ghost chairs!

I dipped this leaf in water then layed it on the picnic table the water from it soaked into the table making the sunlight of late evening pop on it. The light areas at the point of the leaf is from the water that drenched into the table ..Made a great reflection of the sunlight..The water soaked in fast so had to take the shot as soon as the leaf was placed on the the table, I was thinking I must get this light of the water on the table

Table Mountain (11,065 ft, 3373 m) with part of the Southern Absarokas. An unusual perspective on Turret Mountain (11,006 ft, 3355 m) pops above the hill at right while Colter Peak (10,640 ft (3,240 m) plays peekaboo at left.

Because of their remoteness, these peaks attract very few climbers. The easiest one would be Colter, which is nontechnical; the route starts about 20 miles (32km) from the nearest trailhead. Table is probably also nontechnical but has a much longer route from the trail. I am unable to find any record of an ascent, but I assume it's been done.

Turret has only been climbed a few times by professional guides out of Jackson Hole.

The Confederation Table is a golden-hued oak and basswood library or refectory table constructed circa 1837 to 1864 in a Victorian Gothic Revival style.

The Saskatchewan Legislative Building was built between 1908 and 1912 in the Beaux Arts style to a design by Edward and William Sutherland Maxwell of Montreal. The Maxwells also supervised construction of the building by the Montreal company P. Lyall & Sons, who later built the Centre Block of the federal Parliament Building in Ottawa after the 1866 Parliament Building was destroyed by fire in 1916. Piles began to be drilled for the foundations during the autumn of 1908 and in 1909 the Governor General of Canada, the Earl Grey, laid the cornerstone. In 1912, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, by then the serving governor general, inaugurated the building.

The design contemplates expansion of the building by the addition of wings extending south from the east and west ends and coming together to form a courtyard. The plans originally called for the exterior of the building to be red brick but after construction had begun and red bricks were already on the site, Premier Walter Scott decided that Manitoba Tyndall stone would give the building greater grandeur and the plans were adjusted with the substitution increasing the building cost by $50,000. The total cost of construction came to $1.75 million by the time of its opening in October 1912, ten months after the assembly had begun meeting in the yet-uncompleted building.

Of historical significance, the table that was used during the meeting of the Fathers of Confederation in Quebec City in 1864 resides in the building's library, albeit with six feet of it removed. Lieutenant-Governor Edgar Dewdney of the North-West Territories brought the table to Regina, which was the capital of the territory at the time. It was used in the offices of the Indian commissioner for Manitoba and the North-West Territories until 1896. Six feet of the table length was removed from the middle so that it could fit within the limited confines of the Prince Edward Building, the temporary home of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan while the Saskatchewan Legislative Building was under construction.

I captured this iconic view of Table Mountain from Blaauwberg beach shortly after sunset yesterday.

The thing that I like most about shooting coastal subjects such as this one, is that it’s practically impossible to capture exactly the same scene in the exact same way more than once. The constantly changing light, clouds, tides and waves will always ensure a totally unique image… every time you press the shutter!

My favorite image of the day is this one by Miles Morgan (aka mm767cap), an airline pilot from Portland, Oregon. Not only is Miles an incredibly talented photographer, but he’s also one of the most modest and humble photographers that I’ve come across on Flickr. And he’s funny too… I’m always smiling by the time that I finish reading the descriptions to one of his images! Thanks for all the inspiration over the past couple of years Miles… I hope that one day I'll be able to take photos like you do!

[88/365] Snow storm.

Today I made a new flash snoot out of a serial package and it was way better than my old snoots.

Scouted my home for something to shot at and it had to be this Powerade that I have had in my fridge for a while. Made some shots with the Powerade on my living room table but it looked so boooooring.

Saw that the Powerade flavor was called Snow Storm and then I just had to recreate a snow storm.

I used nothing else than the spray from an old smoothing iron to create a nice mist for the snow.

A flash, with my newly created snoot under my living room table and its frosted glass, lighted up the Powerade from the bottom up. The bottle in turn highlighted the mist. A partly collapsed umbrella was used to put some light on the top of the bottle.

Strobist info:

SB800 @ 1/32, 105mm, DIY snoot, shot on the bottom of the Powerade through a sheet of frosted glass.

SB25 @ 1/64, 24mm, shooting into a partly collapsed umbrella, pointing at the Powerade
