The Ring Road to Mývatn passes through rather arid desert landscapes, but the weather conditions can make it interesting. This was the case, with landscapes whitened by snow and a highly structured cloud layer, often including lenticular formations.

Easy to see how this flat-topped mountain got it's name.
I wanted the sun to light up the sloping hill covered with arrowleaf balsamroot to enhance the shot. Took awhile but glad it finally did. Impressive tops to many of the mountains in central Oregon.
