In the tapestry of life, there's a timeless wisdom that echoes through the hum of everyday moments. It's a sentiment akin to the reliability of an old pickup truck, weathered by time but steadfast in its purpose. In a world often enamored by the allure of novelty and extravagance, the enduring value lies not in the gleam of newness or the abundance of bells and whistles, but in the assurance of reliability. Like that dependable truck that has weathered storms and traveled miles, there's an inherent beauty in things or individuals that stand the test of time. In the quiet moments of need, it's the steady engine of reliability that carries us through, proving that sometimes, the truest luxury is found in the unwavering constancy of something or someone we can count on.

The eclectus parrot, especially the female, is one of my favourite tropical birds, which perhaps explains why I post so many shots of this pretty bird. It is native to the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and Australia. According to one guide, these birds are "the most sexually dimorphic of all parrots." The males are bright green with an orange beak (see my icon). The bird was photographed in low light conditions. I took this shot in December 2015, with my new, but soon to be trustworthy, Olympus E - M1 digital camera. Enjoy.
P.S. I am trying out a newer Olympus E - M1 digital camera. I have always owned Olympus cameras. My first was an
Olympus E - 510. Then I moved up to an E - 620. Both of these camera used the older four thirds system. The newer E - M1 employs the micro four thirds system. However, it also allows you to use the older lenses with a special adapter with no loss of performance. This way I can still us all of my old lenses. :)

Fog season has finally returned to San Francisco! It’s been a while and we’ve missed each other for some time, but we’re back in business. Again, my trustworthy fog ninja, Alan, convinced me to head up this morning. Initially, I was hesitant thinking the fog was too high and wanting to jump back into bed. However, Alan called me and said, “you can either head up or possibly get a great shot or you can go back to sleep and cry about missing the opportunity.” Instantly, I grabbed my gear and made my way to SF.
Alan and I headed to Marin and wanted to check conditions there first before settling on our ultimate shooting location. We first headed to Hawk Hill but we decided a higher point would be better: Slacker Hill it was. With sunrise encroaching, we huffed and puffed our way up to Slacker Hill and found a row of photographers already lined up. Though a bit late in arriving, luckily we didn’t miss too much. Just as we arrived the fog began leveling out and tips of the Golden Gate Bridge towers began exposing themselves.
I wanted to go for the smooth fog contour and thus tossed on my 10-stopper filter. Then I waited for the sunrise in hopes of it beaming the warm colors onto the fog. Just like that, the intense light came and disappeared. Low fog, until next time!

During fall migration. a few rare Lincoln's Sparrow's show up in my area and stay for a week or two. Like many sparrows, they spend a lot of time in low brush or on the ground looking for insects and seeds to eat. I see them every fall but haven't gotten any images that I really liked. This individual popped up for a few seconds and I was able to make several exposures.

You are righteous, Lord,
and your laws are right.
The statutes you have laid down are righteous;
they are fully trustworthy.
My zeal wears me out,
for my enemies ignore your words.
Your promises have been thoroughly tested,

Maybe No Cases Left
Oh the irony. A Left Luggage company left with no luggage to keep it company. No handbags, no paper bags, no back packs and no cases. Maybe company was not too trustworthy and the public lost all confidence in the enterprise or there was a sudden dip in demand.
I was going to start a similar company called the Luxurious Lovely Local London Lights Left Luggage Limited Liability Company (LLLLLLLLLC). The signwriter got RSI with all those Ls.
Love is not about the beauty of the person, the positives that you gain from it, a person's beauty may fade but love stays beautiful forever. Its an inspiration to be selfless with a motive to be kind, trustworthy, think about things which are more important to your loved one.
The act of giving you, making you smile gives me more satisfaction than my own benefits. Loving you is not what i want to do rather its my need for me to be more human everyday as being with you makes me better. Time spent with you is devine moreover its my way of living, All I can say is thankyou for making me feel the way I do, I am blessed to be with you.
My sweet alley girl is gone...
I fed her on Thursday afternoon, and she seemed perfectly fine. Friday I went to look for her twice but she didn't show up. Yesterday (Saturday) morning I spotted her near her usual place, and at first I thought she was just sleeping in the sun, curled up on a pile of leaves. She looked so peaceful... but when I called her she didn't react, and when I got closer I realized she was gone. Just like that...
She was very, very special to me, even more special than Mother Cat (and that says it all!). She was the first cat on campus I started taking care of last spring, and we had a very special bond.
It took her many weeks to decide I was trustworthy, but then... magic happened:

and she turned into an affectionate purring machine :-)
She was the only cat I have ever known that liked to stare deep, deep into my eyes, for long moments, and I would always let her do that as much as she wanted... I will never forget the feeling of those moments and her green eyes...

EXPLORE March 13th, 2015
Have a GREAT & RELAXING Weekend my friends & hope you get lot's of great pics if you are out clickin' : ) We are headed out in the boat for fishing and photo-ing : )
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
"March 11, 1942, was a dark, desperate day at Corregidor. The Pacific theater of war was threatening and bleak. One island after another had been buffeted into submission. The enemy was now marching into the Philippines as confident and methodical as the star band in the Rose Bowl parade. Surrender was inevitable. The brilliant and bold soldier, Douglas MacArthur, had only three words for his comrades as he stepped into the escape boat destined for Australia: "I SHALL RETURN."
Upon arriving nine days later in the port of Adelaide, the sixty-two-year-old military statesman closed his remarks with this sentence: "I CAME THROUGH AND I SHALL RETURN."
A little over two and a half years later---October 20, 1944, to be exact---he stood once again on Philippine soil after landing safely at Leyte Island. This is what he said: "This is the voice of freedom, General MacArthur speaking. People of the Philippines: I HAVE RETURNED!"
MacArthur kept his word. His word was as good as his bond. Regardless of the odds against him, including the pressures and power of enemy strategy, he was bound and determined to make his promise good.
This rare breed of man is almost extinct. Whether an executive or an apprentice, a student or a teacher, a blue collar or white, a Christian or not---rare indeed are those who keep their word. The prevalence of the problem has caused the coining of a term painfully familiar to us in our era: credibility gap. To say that something is "credible" is to say it is "capable of being believed, trustworthy." To refer to a "gap" in such suggests a "breach or a reason for doubt."
Jurors often have reason to doubt the testimony of a witness on the stand. Parents, likewise, have reason at times to doubt their children's word (and vice versa). Citizens frequently doubt the promises of politicians, and the credibility of an employee's word is questioned by the employer. Creditors can no longer believe a debtor's verbal promise to pay, and many a mate has ample reason to doubt the word of his or her partner. This is a terrible dilemma! Precious few do what they say they will do without a reminder, a warning, or a threat. Unfortunately, this is true even among Christians.
Taste the encouragement in God's message to His people in Zephaniah 3:8-13 and chew especially His words about purified and truthful speech. Let them motivate you today to the highest standard---God's standard---of integrity.
Listen to what the Scriptures have to say about keeping your word:
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor. (Ephesians 4:25 NIV)
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Colossians 3:17 NIV)
LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary?
Who may live on your holy hill?
He whose walk is blameless . . .
who speaks the truth from his heart. (Psalm 15:1–2)
It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it. (Ecclesiastes 5:5 NIV)
When a man . . . takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. (Numbers 30:2 NIV)"

Alligator seen in the Everglades in Florida.
Look at that smile!!! Doesn't he look like a politician or two you know?
Seeing an alligator was on my list of animals to see while I was vacationing in Florida. So I was really happy when I saw this one sunbathing on the grass along a trail in the Everglades.
The name "alligator" is probably an anglicized form of el lagarto, the Spanish term for "the lizard", which early Spanish explorers and settlers in Florida called the alligator. Later English spellings of the name included allagarta and alagarto. (source: Wikipedia)

"The truth is dead."
Our society is obsessed with the lives of celebrities: Paparazzi follow stars and tabloid media stage their stories every day. Privacy becomes public and the lives of others a consumable product. The question remains as to what is real and what is staged, and whether this difference is really still of interest. A drastic answer was formulated by the British photographer Alison Jackson in 2020: "The truth is dead. Nothing we are shown is trustworthy, everything can be fake and nothing is authentic. What does this knowledge do to us?"

When you walk around the palace, pass the Goslar warrior, walk to the edge of the wood, step down some not really trustworthy looking stairs and round a corner there's this dry fountain.
I was introduced to these words recently:
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain.
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to
be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can
disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul. If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see Beauty even when it is not pretty every day. And if you can source your own life from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, 'Yes.'
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done to feed the children.
It doesn't interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Together - sometimes it’s necessary to borrow hope from someone else who is authentic and trustworthy when my hope seems lost.
What a gift it is to truly be together in the presence of another person, connected in a healthy, meaningful, mindful, validating, authentic, caring way, to be seen and accepted in a healing way.
_________________
As I look through some photos I’ve taken I noticed a few that I categorized and called “together” (it seems perhaps this has become a new, naturally occurring photo project)—they were photos of two dandelions or two leaves together at various stages of growth or decay. This reminded me of moments with a few people who are of incredible support to me, moments when I was not alone (feeling and/or being alone has often been my experience throughout my life and something I’d often been drawn to capture—the feeling of “alone”) and what a gift it is to truly be together in each other’s presence, connected in a healthy, meaningful, mindful, validating, authentic, caring way, to be seen and accepted in a healing way (which I believe also has some similarities to relationship with God) though it can be scary and overwhelming because it’s so unfamiliar to me. I’ve been thinking about this a lot as I look at, share a few of the “together” photos and notice and capture more “together” sightings I encounter. And it has taken me a significant amount of time to even been able to try to put the meaning I see in the photos into words because it is a very deep, foreign experience for me and I didn’t really have the words for it.

Did you ever try to speak to your higher self?
You can ask questions, talk about how you feel, ask for advice, just express yourself or communicate in any other way you want, just like with an absolutely trustworthy best friend, who is always on your side and always rooting for the best possible outcome for you.
It is the most reliable authority in your whole life and will always be there, whatever trouble you might get into
Borexit. Hopefully a good day for the UK. It has to become better after the years of this narcisstic clown and notoric liar, who betrayed Britain as well as the EU. This guy (with his gang) has done lasting damage to my trust and sympathy for British politics, which I had for such a long time But who will follow? Anybody trustworthy´in sight? The Conservative Party seems to have become dominated by selfish career-people. Not to compare to real "right honourable" MP's and PM's long ago... And Labour?...sigh...

I've just gotten home after a long one and a half years at the academy. But only for a brief time. I hope to continue through to 6.3 before Sunday (as I'm leaving to be "deployed" overseas)...
I am reposting this message and creation from my December 2019 post
Although this was written in 2019 I knew something big was going to take place on earth in the months ahead.
It is as relevant today as it was back in 2019 because it relates to today in 2021
I underestimated the severity of this message. In saying this I was extremely unsettled for many months and prayed as I knew something was going to happen but I did not know exactly what.
I had endured many months of suffering knowing. Through this process things became crystal clear to me and with that an understanding of the higher picture and ultimately a sense of surrendering to 'what is' and a sense of Peace and Calm came with this, along with so much gratitude for being guided and shown. A blessing and a curse
To add to this, many souls have sacrificed themselves - knowingly and unknowingly to wake up humanity.
We can never know the soul agreement that each of us has made when we birthed into this world.
I am eternally grateful to the many souls who have endured hell on earth, lost their lives to awaken the masses to the reality of this world.
There are many people at this time on earth who are struggling with all that is happening in our world.
I was guided with this message and design back in 2019 - it started many months before it was completed by December of that year.
I hope that this message will bring some understanding and comfort to anyone who is struggling right now.
Despite her name Black Winged Goddess, she does bring a message of Hope and Unity to humanity.
We are living in times of great destruction of the world as we know it, earth changes, fires, floods, earthquakes.
Here alone in Australia we sit in horror at the extent of the fires rampage across the country. Unprecedented fires and weather in the history of our existence (well what is on record)
Whilst horrific - the earth we live on has always been full of cyclic changes.
Ancient cities have been discovered under the sea, we are naive to think that the world as we know it will remain the same.
What continents exist now may no longer exist. What coastline exists now is slowly being swallowed up by the ocean.
Volcanic eruptions are changing the face of the planet as are earthquakes - the list is long.
We cannot stop the force of Mother Nature. We live on a planet that has always endured such destruction.
We have pole shifts taking place - all kinds of catastrophic events happening across the Globe. We are but a spit in the ocean to the wide Galaxies that we know of. Yet we think we are precious in some way.
I cannot help but wonder why I was so drawn to create this "Black Winged Goddess" let alone give her the name of Black Winged Goddess. But I was drawn, my soul was pushing me for weeks with a "slight vision" of what I needed to create. It now makes total sense to me why I was so drawn to create The Black Winged Goddess, given the state of our world and humanity.
My soul as always when I listen guides me with powerful messages and reminds me to just 'be' to accept 'what is'.
We may not like the current state of our world, but it is what it is and all we can do is stay strong within ourselves and hold the power of 'love' in our hearts despite seeing so much being played out on the planet.
Kali (Hindu) - was known as a deity of the Fearsome Demon destroying Goddess who represents death and rebirth - so her name means "Black One".
We can never truly comprehend or understand the power of mother nature - we have abused her for centuries, taken her for granted and she is a living breathing consciousness so powerful that we dare not go up against here.
In recent years we have seen the influence of the feminine energy on earth which for eons has been dominated by the male energy.
So it makes complete sense to me that we are witness to so much destruction on the planet.
We are witness to the destruction of our societies as we know it, breakdown of families, law, politics.
So much of humanity is at war with the 'system', the injustices, and the lack of balance within our society. The homeless, the abused, the forgotten souls, the mental health issues that seem to have become rampant, the rise of Corporate wealth while humanity is trapped in slavery. We have learnt nothing as a humanity over the past how many hundred years?
In order for rebirth, for new growth, a culling needs to take place - hence the energy of the Black Winged Goddess she is both the Destroyer and the Giver of New Life.
We have elected to be here at this time on the planet - despite the suffering we witness or endure - I know at a higher level it is absolutely necessary for real change to take place.
Our world is a very different place to the one we have known - and whilst we have believed we have had a safe and reasonable planet in which to live, the reality is much Evil has existed and people have been brainwashed to the point of being zombies. There has been so much suppression imposed upon humanity even to the extreme of vaccinations and fluoride to our water supply. All of these chemicals act as suppressants to our brain! It has been a deliberate agenda of the existing power on earth. Their agenda has always been to rule, control and suppress the populous.
Humanity is awakening and with this will be uproar, dis - ease, a culling if you like. It is time for humanity to step out of fear and into their true power which is within each and every one of us.
New growth, new beginnings but not before the dismantling of the old - it has to be this way.
These times we are living through were written in history.
So I have created "The Black Winged Goddess" she is available in different styles, inside a Dome with beautiful etched glass or stand alone. She will rotate or can be static.
She is available on MP in the Stand Alone version (rotating) or can be seen in world at my store.
****This POST IS NOT to promote my MP. I will not put my MP link here for this reason. If anyone does not have the money and would like a version of her please send me a notecard in world with your full name and I will happily send one to you. This is NOT about promoting my MP it is about assisting humanity at this time***.
I hope you enjoy and embrace 'The "Black Winged Goddess' and rather be in fear of her - understand she brings 'New Life" but first the old has to die for the new to be born.
How appropriate for a New Year of 2020 fast approaching.
Interestingly and unconsciously I created 4 of these Black Winged Goddesses.
The year 2020 equates to the number 4 in Numerology.
The #4 represents a Universal energy. (see below for a deeper understanding of the #4)
The # 2 - Is the most feminine and often underestimated when it comes to power and strength. She is always gentle, tactful, diplomatic, forgiving and understanding. She likes to keep peace and likes to avoid confrontation. # 2 is the survivor and extremely resilient force. Her shape looks as though she is bent back on a knee with head bowed in humility and service. However when enough pressure is applied to the # 2 energy. Some would perceive her as weak and powerless due to this servitude shape. However never underestimate the power behind #2 because she represents the power (double) #1 who is the all powerful warrior who will shake and destroy no matter what. So #2 brings the balance but never underestimate the power of 2 Energy.
The #4 Energy in more detail
The 4 is without a doubt masculine, reflecting strength and stability. His chief characteristics are dependability, productivity, punctuality and obedience. He is trustworthy, patient, conventional and a traditionalist.
Tend to be rule followers. 4 is the area of sciences, upholding the law (such as Government and the military). The #4 represents Disciplined, systematic, Dependable, Strong. Loyal
Four is the basis of all solid objects. Four points are used in constructing the simplest solid and thus four is the number symbolizing the way of construction. In many religions, four is seen as the number for earth, and representing the four elements, Air Earth, Water and Fire.
At its extreme 4's can tend to overreact to violence.
So 2020 seems to have more challenges ahead and I suspect we will be seeing more uprising across the planet (#2 energy) with totalitarianism (#4 energy) being played out like never before. Perhaps more of what the world has witnessed in Hong Kong this year.
It is as if the two energies Masculine & Feminine are battling against one another. But at the same time, I cannot help but feel and acknowledge UNITY - and this is what I will remain focused upon during the year ahead. We must stand united. We are after all 'one humanity'
We are without doubt living in very challenging times.
May peace be with you!

Sebastiano del Piombo
Venice,1485/86-1547,Rome,
Portrait of a Man,Said to be Christopher Columbus,1519,
medium-oil on canvas
Painted in Rome by one of the outstanding Venetian masters of the High Renaissance, this badly damaged portrait purports to show Christopher Columbus. The inscription as the Ligurian Colombo "the first to enter by ship into the world of the Antipodes 1519,"but the writing is not entirely trustworthy and the date1 1519 means that it cannot be painted from life as Columbus died in 1506.There are other, quite different portraits, that also claim to show Columbus.Nonetheless from an early date our picture became the authoritative (the museum's i.e.) likeness. In 1814 the painting was part of the collection of Prince Talleyrand and was exhibited at the Palais Royal in Paris.

NB this is NOT black and white...
In Icelandic, a male troll is actually called a tröll; a female, tröllkana. As a species, their most distinctive feature is their gargantuan size, followed closely by their sometimes malevolent nature. Generally, they are considered of low-intelligence, oafish, and with a penchant for cruelty and greed. Saying that, there are some folk tales that demonstrate their capability for kindness and trustworthiness.
Even today, Icelandic guides are quick to point out unique rock formations that were once trolls that roamed freely across the landscape. One excellent example is the basalt sea stacks, Reynisdrangar, that loom over the coastal village of Vík í Mýrdal. According to the legends, two trolls stole a young woman from her farmstead; when they were chased down by her husband, they attempted to escape out to the sea, where the rising sun froze them in place.
On 7 The July the Shias all over celebrated 13 Rajjab or the birthday of Hazrat Imam Ai , also known as Willadat e Imam Ali.
Background of Imam Ali.
www.ezsoftech.com/stories/infallible2.asp
On the 13th of the month of Rajab, twenty-three years before the migration of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) a child was born in the family of Abu Talib, the light of whom kindled the whole World. Kunaab Mecci narrates about his birth: "We and Abbas (Ibne Abdul Mutalib) were sitting together when suddenly we saw Fatima bint-e-Asad moving towards the Kaabah in the condition having delivery pain and saying "Oh God I have faith in you and the Prophet (i.e., Abraham) who by your command laid the foundation of this house. O God! I swear you by the same Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and swear you by the child in my womb make this birth comfortable and easy for me."
This was the time when all of us saw with our own eyes that the wall of Kaabah broke apart and Fatima bint-e-Asad entered into the Kaabah. Then the wall again united.
We ran terrified and trembling to our houses to send our women into the Kaabah for the help and assistance of Fatima bint-e-Asad. We did our best but the door did not open. This event surprised all the people of Makkah.
The women of Makkah were anxiously counting moments to meet Fatima bint-e-Asad till the time she came out of the Kaabah along with a beautiful baby, saying, "God has chosen me from among the ladies of Makkah and He made me His guest in His house and gave me meals and fruits of the heaven to eat.
The ladies who were surrounding her in the form of a circle and escorting her to her home asked her, "What name have you given to this child?"
Fatima bint-e-Asad said: "When I was in the Kaabah, I heard a hidden voice call," Name this child "ALI".
Yes! We are talking about Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) the pious man whose childhood and infancy period lasted in such a pure and chaste way that he himself stated in Nahjul Balagha, "The Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) used to pick me in his lap and embrace me and chew the food and put it into my mouth."
Early youth of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS):
Ali ibn Abu Talib describes this enlightening period of his age as under: The Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) used to go to the Cave of Hira but nobody except he (pbuh) and I did know about it. At the time when the religion of Islam had not yet reached the homes, he (pbuh) and his wife Khatijah (SA) were the only Muslims. I was the next person to them who saw the light of revelation and prophet hood and smelled the fragrance of the Prophet hood.
When the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) of Islam was ordered by God to invite his family members to embrace Islam. Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) according to the advice of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) invited forty persons of the Prophet's family at his home. Although the food was quite little but all of them ate fully well. After the meal was over the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) spoke to those present saying, "Oh the sons of Abdul Mutalib, God has ordered me to invite you to embrace Islam and get you introduced to it."
Whosoever, having believed in my Prophet hood, promises to help and assist me shall be my brother, deputy and successor and my caliph.
He (pbuh) repeated this sentence thrice but no one except "Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS)" gave a positive response. As many times as the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) addressed the persons present, nobody except Imam Ali (AS) answered. Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) was rising again and again to his feet and promising help to him and announcing his faith.
This is the very reason why the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said: "This Ali, is my brother and successor listen and lend ears to what he says and obey his orders." When Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) entered from his early youth into the phase of puberty, the part of age when all the human energies and powers are strong and firm, even in this part of the life he remained closely associated to the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) like a flying moth which moves around the Candle. He defended Islam and the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) with his strong, energetic arms.
When the enemy besieged and surrounded the Muslims in the battle of Hunain and they abandoned and left behind the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) running away for their lives, it was only and only Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) who defended and saved the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and made the enemies retreat and take to their heals.
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) killed Marhab the chief of army of Jews in the Khyber battle, whose power and bravery was making everybody tremble but Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) cut him into two and pulled apart the gate of the Khyber fort which used to be opened and closed by twenty men together. Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) used it as a bridge over the trench for the Islamic army to cross over to the Khyber fort. Many such events are the specimens and evidences about the faith, and spirit of self-sacrifice and devotion of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS).
Self-Sacrifice and Devotion of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS):
There is no doubt to it that every body loves his soul and very rarely gets ready to sacrifice it for another person but because of the fact that Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) loved the soul of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) even more than his own one, he got prepared to lay his life for him.
The event takes shape like this. When the polytheists saw that they are in danger, they jointly made a firm determination to take the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) by surprise and martyr him. So all of them gathered in "Dar un Nadva" and choose one person from each family so that every tribe gets involved in getting Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) killed and then no one could take the revenge of him.
The Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) had come to know about this conspiracy through revelation. God ordered him (pbuh) to migrate from Makkah in the darkness of the night. The Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) needed someone, prepared to sacrifice his life and must be a trustworthy secret holder.
Hence, there was no one else except Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) in whom he confided, and told him "God has informed me that the infidels will break through the house to kill me so today you sleep on my bed." Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) smilingly accepted it, because he (as) knew that the life of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) would be saved by his action. In fact, Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) used to say later that the best sleep he had ever had was on that night (Shab-e-Hijrat).
Then the time came when the darkness of the night covered everything and Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) was sleeping on the Prophet's (pbuh) bed calmly and peacefully and the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) came out of his house and started proceeding towards the Cave of Saur with Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA). The infidels besieged the house and got prepared with their swords and spears to attack it. The sooner they were instructed to make it, they break through the house rushing with naked swords. But when they found Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) laying on the bed of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) they immediately moved out of the house desperate and astonished, and sent a few horsemen to search the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh). But not very long afterwards they too returned defeated and hopeless.
Allah liked this action of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) so much that HE revealed this verse in the Holy Quran: "And among men is he who sells his NAFS (self) in exchange for the pleasure of Allah..." (Surah 2: Baqarah / Verse 207)
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) and Holy War:
Islam is the religion of peace and tranquility and does not like killing, plundering, and bloodshed. But if some one kills another without any reason then Islam has strong punishment to deal with him.
Of course, if an enemy attacks the Muslims then by the standards of wits, common sense, and religious law, self defense which as a form of Jihad/Jehad becomes essential and indispensable.
All the battles of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) in which Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) fought armed and truthfully were defensive battles.
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) was such a brave, faithful, holy warrior who never got frustrated and upset and tired of the fighting and battles. He was afraid of no one except God. He used to say "By God if I see that on one side is the truth and on the other side all the rest of the people I, without caring and paying heed to those reproaching me, will fight all alone with my sword, on the way and path of the right, against them.
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib's (AS) way or Training:
The city of Kufa was the capital of the Islamic Government. People from all over the World used to gather at that point to get the benefit of knowledge and learning from that great Islamic University.
One of those days two men came across each other in the vicinity of the city one of them was Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) and the other was a Christian who did not recognize him. The Christian man was moving towards the suburban area of Kufa, where as, Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) was on his way to Kufa.
They mutually agreed to accompany each other for a while, talking to each other, so that they do not get tired.
They reached a point where two ways split out, so that each one wanted to move on one of those two different roads. The Christian bade Farwell and went on his way but he observed that his Muslim companion, whose way was on the opposite side, was moving towards him. So he stopped and questioned him, "Don't you want to go to Kufa?"
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) said, "Yes". The Christian man said, "Then why are you coming towards this direction?"
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) replied, "I wish to accompany you to a certain length of distance because the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) said, "when two persons are together on a way (journey companions) they get a right over each other."
"Now that you have got a right upon me, I go along with you up to a certain distance so that I must pay you (discharge) that right of yours in this world. Then I will part off on my own way." The Christian man was much pleased and moved by this humanly attitude and conduct and he liked his talk and said, "It is befitting that I should also embrace Islam which has such a culture and students."
His amazement and astonishment was only too enhanced when he discovered that his travel companion is Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS), the ruler of Islam. So he immediately accepted and embraced Islam at his hand. Self-preservation of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) :

And Labour?...sigh...
photo shamelessly stolen from Marijke B.'s stream. Bedankt, Marijke, for your outstanding collection!
Unsettling situations in corporate business often arise from a confluence of ethical breaches, financial instability, and internal conflicts.
Internal power struggles and toxic workplace cultures can create environments rife with mistrust and low morals.
Just do as we ask and eveything will be OK.
Today we in the UK got a new Prime Minister - something we should be used to hear over the last couple of years - but after 11 years with a "Conservaive" government we now have a "Labour" victory. (To be honest I wonder if we will actually be able to tell the difference).
"What we learn only through the ears makes less impression upon our minds than what is presented to the trustworthy eye."
These eyes have left lasting impressions on millions...just being in his divine presence is a soul stirring experience...
I changed last year from my trustworthy Nikon DSLR to the mirror less system from Fujifilm. One of the main reasons to change was the weight and size of my Nikon gear. A lot of my photography is travel-related. Having less weight is a big advantage. But I also experienced that using the Fujifilm equipment brought back the fun in photography. I like the analogue dials on top. I like the small size of the body and the lenses, so I can bring the whole kit on a city-trip, or put it in the bag for a hike.
The image stabilisation worked perfect on our trip to Rome. I was not allowed to bring a tripod inside the Pantheon but I nailed this shot handheld with 1/15 sec.
The interior of the Pantheon is photographed so many times, but I can't stop looking up and see the beautiful square-shaped ceiling and the hole in the centre. For me all these brown tones represent beauty.
Enjoy!

two fully grown chickens - market street - Zhuzhou, Hunan, China
The ancient Chinese thought highly of the chicken, and called it "poultry with five virtues": the comb on the head was its civil virtue; the calcar behind the claw enhanced its fighting power, suggesting the military virtue; able to fight against the enemy was its virtue of valiancy; inviting the fellows when there was food was its virtue of benevolence; never forgetting to herald the break of a day was its virtue of trustworthiness; therefore, paper-cuts featuring the image of the rooster is pasted onto the window during the Spring Festival, and the first day of the Spring Festival is called "the day of chicken".
Two Whitetail Does evidently having a conversation about the "trustworthiness" of the tall human photographer taking their picture. I imagine the conversation going like this...Who is that guy? He must be that crazy photographer! Well, If he comes one step closer, we are out of here!! :D Funny how we project human attributes on to animals!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the day~!
No new Photoshop yet. This was processed in Photomatix HDR. Just trying out new computer and trying to get everything organized. Actually driving me crazy.............which I suspect many would say that's not a "drive" - merely a "short walk".
Viewers might notice evidence of some slight mis-alignment (bracketed 3-exposures) in the background. This could have been rectified in Photomatix had I taken more time in processing but actually I wasn't sure if this image would even up load so didn't take the time to correct the mis-alignment. But I do believe the car came out in sharp detail.
Btw - The is a "story" involved here (isn't there always a story when it comes to me!) About the time I walked up to this Chevelle most all the car owners were in the park area (in the BG) for an awards presentation. The hood was raised when I approached this car (of course, right?). So anyway, I brazenly decided to gently close its hood for this picture. Well unbeknown to me the owner, at the very same time, looked back at his car.......saw the hood of his car being closed. So I'm merrily shooting away taking the pictures of this car and I suddenly heard a voice behind me saying; "Who in the Hell closed the hood on my car?" There were a group of guys standing around and he's glowering from one to the other. Well, being the "honest, trustworthy culprit" I am, I stepped forward and said, "I did.........but did so very carefully so I could get some good pictures of your fine car with the hood closed". Okay, he gave me the "eagle eye" and mumbled something (that sounded something like the word, "damn") but he didn't pursue it further. Frankly I'm glad he didn't. I would really have hated to had to deck the guy...........all 230 pounds, 6 foot 3 inches of him - LOL.
A lot of contacts are doing this so I'm jumping on board..cos it's easy and it's been forever since I did this one.

The Inoummar agadir is the largest granary in the Western Anti-Atlas (576 huts), near Ait Baha, on the road from Agadir to Tafraoute.
The "igoudars" testify to an ancestral history and a secular tradition. Long preserved in time, they reflect a culture both architectural and societal. They are collective granaries in the form of citadels, mostly watched over by a "lamine", which literally means trustworthy man. They were used to store foodstuffs, crops of wheat, corn and barley, oil, jewelry and precious documents. Because of their fortified form, they constituted the ideal refuge and the reliable shelter of the foodstuffs and goods of the douar populations against the temptations of the brigands.
I think the hill is Barrow Hill at Fretherne but I'm not sure... it could actually be Robin's Wood Hill up near Gloucester.
