This shot was taken on a deserted beach in South Westland, New Zealand, the least populated part of the South Island. The rivers in the region are mostly snow fed from the Southern Alps where they run through rain forests before reaching the coast. The beaches are scattered with drift wood of many tree species and some of the logs are from specimans dating back up to 200 years.

If the swift pouillot posted yesterday is fast, this Roitelet with triple headband is even more so!
From afar I spotted finches bathing in a puddle in a dark corner of the park, I approach for better visibility, missed they flew away, to my surprise he was with them and he too flew away, I pretended to be dead for a good quarter of an hour, and here he was again, all very clean and beautiful with a wolf's hunger.!
I am very happy because it is the first time that I have managed to photograph it in fairly good conditions ....
This just goes to show that you can bird anywhere - all you have to do is be aware. Eagles have made an amazing comeback in Ohio with over 700 nests counted throughout the state in 2020. So I shouldn't have been surprised when I saw a Bald Eagle perched in a tree near a very busy intersection - but the sight of these majestic birds still makes me do a double take. I came back about an hour later to get a photograph and did a triple-take. Yes, there were two more Bald Eagles in an adjacent tree. That's a total of THREE Bald Eagles all perched within view of a very busy and well-traveled intersection and about 1/2 mile from my house. That's just off the hook crazy. Here's a pic of the two that were in one tree taken just as the sun was setting.

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
The speedometer in the truck I was in only went up to 100, but we went faster pacing Amtrak #2 down the Glidden Sub with Phase I unit #156 leading.

Had some time off from work on Friday and decided to hit the gorge for a little waterfall fun and made the hike out to Triple Falls. It’s not a real difficult hike, but the embedded rocks in the trail seem to wear on my knees and ankles more then any other hike. I had not visited this falls in a few years, but wanted to come away with some different images, so I made my way down below to the base of the falls. I will say, standing in swiftly moving current with bellowing clouds of overspray/mist and being surrounded by the deep thundering sounds of powerful waterfall, is one of my absolute favorite things to do and always puts a huge smile on my face! The atmosphere was great, but fast moving clouds, sun breaks and the heavy mist made for a lot of lens wiping and patients, which I have very little, but loved every second of it!
Happy Waterfall Wednesday!

Something to probably never be repeated here along the BNSF Hannibal Sub. ...
A triple meet so to speak here in Old Monroe, MO.
The BNSF 775 is parked in the lumber mill spur off the siding and is the lead unit for a train tied down 6 miles away at a location call Gibb. Before the siding at Gibb was extended and made with easier access for crew vans, the crew would bring the lead unit back to Old Monroe for an easier pick up when their time ran out.
BNSF 5012 is the DPU on an empty oil can creeping through the siding while the BNSF 9227 leads a loaded taconite train down the main and will soon get the green on the old search light signal to continue down the line.
We were out for an hour or two this morning and had a cup of coffee. While sitting at a table on the street, an older guy pulled up with these three big bundles of joy nearby. I only had the phone but, well, I just had to do it. They were very friendly, even the guy didn't bite me! That's it for today.
