Schreiner's Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon has more than just irises. It's a treasure trove of lovely things!
19“Do not store up for yourselves [material] treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart [your wishes, your desires; that on which your life centers] will be also.
This is the head of a wooden duck that is about 280mm long.
It was originally in 2 parts with a hollows space inside, probably intended to be a jewellery box.
Now it is glued together as it holds the ashes of our daughter.
She left us many years ago when only a baby.
It is an incredibly precious and treasured item.
Treasured for Macro Mondays

I like to see them together like that... reminds me of a romantic treasure box... and light shining through crystals... dreamy summer mood...

I just got back from a trip to the beach.
I don't really need to be swimming in the beach, I just love being near it. It's calming. Plus, I love finding seashells, building sand castles, or just walking along the shoreline.
It's nice to be home though.
More pictures soon!
You all have great treasures to offer, and you yourselves are of the highest value, each and every one.
A final look today at some of the outstanding works from this year's Glover Prize finalists.

"Trowutta Treasures"
Watercolour and gouache on archers paper
60 x 90 cms
The artist writes:
"I've realised how important and vital the 'small things' are to the whole story of life. Trowutta Caves Conservation Reserve on Palawa land is home to the Trowutta Arch, a geological formation left behind by sinkholes located in northwest Tasmania. A temperate rainforest with rugged formations, soft ferns, large trees, tiny fungi and mosses. The 'big' and 'small' sit together in perfect harmony here as the jewel like fungi decompose organic waste and are essential for recycling of carbon and minerals in the ecosystem, the seeders of the plant world. My artwork title pays homage to the big and small in all our lives."

Taken for Saturday Self Challenge 19/11/2022 -- Lost & Found
Well a very tricky week with bad weather for getting out and when I did get out the most one could find was where a dog had done it's business !!
I did have a claim to fame Lost & Found story , but it dates back to the 1990s and no way to take a photo other than from youtube . Working in the dry cleaners at the time a regular customer who is a very well known and respected actress left a bundle of work for cleaning and while sorting it out I did come across what looked like a small section of gold pipe , did not know for sure when or where it came from as it was at a busy time . On closer inspection it was clear this was something special with the engraving on the inside , so put it away safely . Next morning we had a very early morning phone call , it was from the home of the actress mentioned above and yes there was a major panic there as her wedding ring was missing and had we found it ?? Yes we have got it here and major relief from the other end of the phone - she was so grateful as you can imagine !! Well that would have been what I have found if I could have done it . At about the same time at the same branch , one day I was cleaning the insides of the spotting table , a very messy and cruddy job that was as well as needing a well soapy bucket of water , it needed a lot of elbow grease also - at the end of the task and the murky water disposed of down the gully in the road outside - horror of horrors MY wedding ring was gone and it has never been seen since !! Obviously we have had to replace it and that one is staying put whatever !!
So what do we have here ? Three items all found over the years and each one of us at home has found one of the above .
I found the triangular base stone above when I visited St. Nectan's Glen in Cornwall , a wonderful double waterfall that tumbles into a kieve , an ethereal place and quite mystical ---
The smaller white stone was picked up by my daughter from Castle Rising Castle on a very significant visit as the castle was built by her Great Grandfather umpteen times years ago in around 1140 for his new wife who was originally the second wife of Henry the First .

The ring was found inside a vase when my wife helped clear her grandmother's house some 50 years ago . The ring was very black and in quite a state - amazing what a careful clean can achieve !!
It was my wife's suggestion to use the ring for the challenge as a treasured find and the other pieces fitted in with the theme I felt .
Are we all not " Lost In A Lost World " ?????????????

Have a great day dear Flickr friends !
Today is really not my day. I've been wanting to shoot with film again for so long and today I wanted to get some film for it. Last year there were none at all, today they cost about 3 times as much as before. So here are 108 treasures in my hand. And shortly after I took the photo, the camera fell down and now my lens is broken.... Either I start the day over again or we quickly jump to the next :D - day 14
