Benny "the Jet" Urquidez vs. Shinobu Onuki
Tokyo, Japan - April 29, 1978
Urquidez vs. Onuki - This bout concluded in round 3 when Onuki dislocated his shoulder from a throw by Urquidez. Urquidez was responding to a perceived attempt at a chokehold by Onuki. Judo throws, however, were illegal under Japanese rules though they were thought legal by the Americans under the mixed-rules for the bout. Urquidez was disqualified at the time of the bout. Under protest, given that “Tiger Mask” Saturo Sayama had been permitted to use every imaginable pro-wrestling throw in his bout against Marc Costello, the All Japan Kick-Boxing Association then transmuted the disqualification to a no-contest. Afterwards, for all future international title bouts, the Americans agreed to give up throws and the Japanese agreed to give up clinch-fighting. This understanding solidified the so-called International Rules pioneered by the WKA. In October 1981, when the AJKBA merged with the WKA, the WKA officially transmuted this disqualification to a TKO victory for Urquidez.
Onuki fought Urquidez again in Las Vegas January 26, 1980 but Urquidez won that fight by knockout in round 7 with a devastating left hand body shot.
My work, photo based images and videos, addresses the common experience of dwelling in the rotting and evolving urbanity today.

Our common existence is framed by the continuum of space and time. The absorption of unique experiences generated by these quantum variables, layers and marks the personal journey.
Wall construction emerged in our cultural vernacular as a basic means to physically organize, protect and define our sense of space. Transmogrified by the passage of time, this flat surface partition becomes embedded with intimate meaning – marks of a collective presence. And so, this wall, a two-dimensional division, becomes the very membrane broken to explore the layers of our personal and collective psyche by excavating the substance beneath structure. To slowly, methodically and meditatively deconstruct this architectural barrier of paint, plaster and wooden slats, the skeleton and anatomy of our joint experience is explored through this exposition. The process of creation and destruction is not simply about addition with equal subtraction. Instead, this work, deploying the theatrics of removal and des destruction attends to experiential evolution; an ongoing developmental change transmuting and subjugating both space and time.

3 mois de travail jour et nuit, une "dream team" hors du commun, un grand merci à ACS, Luc, mon fidèle Géant qui poserait un 38 T. sur un balcon (cqfd Thierry Loir) Thomas, Cart'1, Goin et bien sûr Marc pour les peintures.
Je suis arrivé à poser mon installation de 99 sculptures d'acier brut avec un cahier des charges de ouf, aucune des 3600 œuvres de la DDC ne devaient être occultées, penser aux sources électriques, les passages d'eau, les voies de transport pour engin de chantier, les nacelles télescopiques (3m de large), protéger le grand public, respecter les normes ERP muséales, etc… Alterner en permanence monstration et effacement…
Sont-elles habitées ? Je l'ignore. Une chose certaine est que chacune, par les éléments alchimiques et les codes peints soit à l'antirouille soit volontairement avec des peintures dégradables par la rouille avec le temps, rend chaque sentinelle comme une sculpture unique. Cet automne chaque sentinelle va laisser apparaître, avec les pluies acides, différents niveaux de lecture, selon les peintures et solvants utilisés, les rendant singulières avec des stratifications que les archéologues des temps futurs décrypteront...
Mais mon défi le plus périlleux, était de créer une installation géante de 9000 m2 qui enveloppe, par des dizaines de tonnes d'acier, la Demeure du Chaos pour que mes visiteurs sur 360 degrés, plongent dans un univers onirique et fantasmagorique où les deux univers que sont la Demeure du Chaos d'une part et d'autre part l'installation des 99 sculptures monumentales (baptisées par une nuit très agitée "Sentinelles Alchimiques") s'entrecroisent selon l'Inframince définit par Marcel Duchamp (ou comment construire des intensités par soustraction).
Ces 99 Sentinelles Alchimiques sont désormais les gardiennes du Sanctuaire que représente la Demeure du Chaos. Je les ai conçus comme de véritable puits d’énergie quantique que je pose avec patience et sagesse sur l’ensemble de la Demeure du Chaos.
Elles sont au nombre de 99, faites d’acier brut de 10 mm (50 tonnes) soudées pour former un triangle équilatéral parfait. Chacun des 3 pans constituant une Sentinelle Alchimique, est lui même découpé pour laisser entrevoir une mystérieuse meurtrière, elle même en forme de triangle équilatéral, donnant ainsi une géométrie Euclidienne au regard du visiteur.
Ces 99 Sentinelles Alchimiques sont chacune à des points d’énergie particuliers de la Demeure du Chaos sur 9000 m2. Certaines se dissimulent par la végétation ou les reliefs naturels ou bien en écho aux autres œuvres, d’autres sont dans les espaces privatifs ou professionnels.
Dans mon travail alchimique démarré le 9 décembre 1999, les trois portes disposées en triangle équilatéral, dont un sommet est dirigé vers le haut, forment le delta lumineux. Elle sont les trois corps sur lesquels l’alchimiste va œuvrer. Ces trois corps sont le soufre, le mercure et le sel.
Soulignons que les trois corps présents dans la Materia Prima ou Chaos alchimique sont étroitement mélangés. Le triangle de point est aussi la marque des philosophes par le feu.
Le triangle équilatéral reposant sur sa base, à la manière des trois points, est le symbole de l’élément feu, l’un des quatre éléments avec lequel l’alchimiste travaille au laboratoire.
Les propriétés géométriques du triangle équilatéral relèvent de la perfection absolue par sa force spirituelle, son symbolisme de la nuit des temps notamment dans l’ancienne Egypte, il est force, beauté et harmonie.
Elles resteront durant mille ans comme les témoins d’une civilisation disparue par la folie des hommes

These charms don't mean anything in particular but the colors hint at the idea of transmuting one metal to another.
I like fluidity of the charms on the very regular and angular structure of the milled links that make up the chain.
The other thing I like about this piece is the sounds it makes when handled or worn; most of the charms sound like silver bells.
I used Fire, Water and Gravity to make this bracelet

Digging Dog Nursery: Imprinting a remarkable architectural aspect upon the landscape, this adaptable cultivar sculpts bold upright columns of rounded deep reddish purple leaves, which transmute brilliant red fall color. Multiple staunch ruddy brown stems sport richly colored deciduous foliage, plus clustered small yellow flowers followed by shiny bright red persistent berries.

Antelope Canyon, unearthly in its beauty, is a dramatic symphony of shapes and textures of petrified sand dunes with a spectacular pallete of colors transmuted by light filtering down the slot canyon.

Is extinction forever? This work seeks to generate a reflection on the increasingly possible cloning of extinct species. Since the origin of life, evolution has never returned to a vanished species. However, human science is about to break this rule. Is it ethical and moral to play gods? Through scientific reproductions of a neanderthal and a saber-toothed tiger that emerge from the earth (extinction) to cross a DNA helix and reach our present with a paleo-reconstruction where the visitor can interact and then go through a series of circles that forms the geometry of life arrive at a mythical alebrije that represents the transmutation of our matter.

I found this sublime poetic outpouring a few days later after this painting was done. Shelley gave me the insight with which to further study the image. Suddenly I felt a glimpse of the relationship between Jacob and that Angel... a further clue to explore the center of this image and discover the lightness there... Something inside me shifted profoundly. The exaltation of these feeling are beyond words. Another digital revelation emerged and I posted them both today.

'Floating Satellites' is an audiovisual interactive installation where position data of a series of artificial satellites orbiting around the planet earth is fed into the interactive system and used for graphic visualizations and sound control.
The orbits of the satellites around the planet earth act like a visual sequencer, and when the satellites cross specific coordinates events are triggered into the audiovisual generation system.

The Kabbalah Tree of Life is a map of the soul/human journey and experience toward enlightened consciousness. It is a picture of how Nothing becomes Everything, which ultimately becomes physical matter; and vice versa, how physical matter ultimately becomes Everything which then becomes Nothing. In all of time... in the past, present and future... we are somewhere in the Tree, experiencing a moment, then moving to another moment in time to another place in the Tree. It is a personal journey, and yet also a universal journey. It is the journey to understand ourself, our relationships, our planet and the cosmos in relation to the Creator of the All-That-Is. It is a physical representation of the stepdown process through each Sephirah where a differentiated Spectrum appears. The stepdown of visible color begins with KETER. And so the Tree of Life is formed.Below is a brief definition of each Archangel and Shekinah within the Tree of Life.Metatron - The highest Archangel who presides over all the other Archangels. The tall Archangel. Guards the Divine Throne. The "Angel of Presence" who faces Divinity directly. Records good deeds and serves the Divine Merkabah (chariot). Assists in personal ascension. Twin brother of Archangel Sandalphon. Metatron lived as a human man, the prophet and scribe known as Enoch.
Raziel - Means "Secret of God". Reveals the secret Divine mysteries of mankind and the Universe. Brings intuition, insight and heightened awareness allowing deep understanding of esoteric spiritual ideas by opening the Third Eye chakra. Wrote the Book of Wisdom revealing all earthly and cosmic secrets, which Raziel gave to Adam as he left the Garden of Eden.
Tzaphqiel - Means "Knowledge of God". Tzaphqiel is the beholder of God. The Feminine aspect of Creation, emanating unconditional love, forgiveness, non-judgement and compassion. The Great Cosmic Mother.
Tzadkiel - Means "Righteouness or Justice of God". The Angel of Mercy. The Great Alchemist. Invokes the violet flame of purification and transmutation. Assists with the alchemical process. Brings joy, benevolence, justice, liberation and freedom. Brings ability to perceive many things at the same time. Helps in matters of prosperity and money.
Kamael - Means "He who sees God". Helps in all matters of the heart. Assists in the healing of the heart. Helps to develop our heart chakra and bring through the attributes of compassion, balanced love of Self and the unconditional extension of that Love for oneself to others. Assists with all mental activities. Brings concentration and focus resulting in breakthroughs in understanding. Assists with the healing of family relationships and friendships and reuniting twin flames. Helps you find missing items.
Michael - Means "He who is like God". The Great Teacher of humanity. Brings expansion, leadership, courage, protection, faith, power and strength. Cuts away what is discordant, unwanted or no longer needed using his sword. Also cuts psychic ties to another. Call on Michael before you go to sleep. Note: some Kabbalists place Michael in HOD.

Le duo d'artistes montréalaises formé de Sophie-Anne Bélisle et de Fadwa Bouziane axe sa recherche sur la rencontre de l'autre par le biais de collaborations intéractives. Elles sont toutes deux étudiantes en arts visuels à l'Université Concordia.
DÉMARCHE DU PROJET
État/Transmutation possède une structure semblable à celle d'une cabine téléphonique: un espace clos dans lequel il est possible de s'abriter et d'avoir un peu d'intimité pour communiquer. Le projet sert à montrer les problèmes et difficultés d'une interaction entre êtres humains. L'oeuvre révèle les carences inhérentes aux médias sociaux. C'est une reformulation de la cabine téléphonique, où l'on propose plutôt d'échanger à l'aide d'un moyen faillible et ludique. Les visiteurs seront invités à écrire un message sur les ailes d'un avion de papier et à projeter celui-ci vers l'autre utilisateur de la cabine.

Man has felt enslaved to his thoughts & emotions for aeons of time. Lacking a clear direction & understanding of the Laws of the Universe, he feels like Nature’s victim. However, Man with his intellect actually stands above Nature. Nature merely follows blind Laws. Man has the potential to learn how to use these Laws for his benefit. It is a matter of practice & perseverance. From an understanding of the Laws of Nature has been groomed the Art of Mental Transmutation, a practice of Mental Alchemy developed thousands of years ago, & just now coming back to light.
Alchemy, in the past, has often been referred to as the process of transforming lead into gold. The average Man understands this process to happen purely on the physical plane. This misinformation deprives him of the ability to master his mind, thus master his life. Mental Alchemy is the process of transformation that happens on the mental & spiritual planes. Through Mental Alchemy, Man transforms his inner life from undesirable (lead) to desirable (gold). Now why would Man need a transformation on the invisible yet very existent mental & spiritual planes?
The rich Man like the poor Man has often expressed dissatisfaction with the conditions of his life. For the past few thousands of years, his solution to this dissatisfaction has been to change his external conditions. Be it a change of house, a change of car, a change of partner, or a change of country, Man has consistently seeked to make an external change that would hopefully lead to a boost in satisfaction levels. Unfortunately, Man has almost always been blighted in his attempts for happiness & satisfaction. Man has given far too much importance to his external circumstances, & far too little importance to his internal circumstances. By observing merely external conditions, he feels like he is constantly playing catch up to the Universe. He feels like everything just happens & he has no effect on anything. He feels like the victim of the Universe. This blatant misperception is what Mental Alchemy aims at transforming.
The Universe may seem very complicated to Man’s closed eyes, but its simplicity outstands him once he chooses to open his eyes. Evidently, this shift in attention does not happen on the physical plane. It happens on the mental plane. Once Man embraces responsibility for his thoughts, words, & actions, he unlocks the door that will lead him to Mastery. Man no longer blindly represses his thoughts & emotions. He starts investigating their nature. Through this open investigation, he will eventually gain control over his Mind. Through Mental Alchemy, Man will eventually gain control of his Powers. This process of transmutation may be divided into 3 sub-steps, that will be outlined hereafter.
1) Self-Awareness
Man’s pursuit of Self-Mastery inevitably starts with Self-Awareness. As long as Man is not aware of his inner conditions, he can do nothing to change them. His outer conditions are merely a reflection of his inner conditions. His external life is merely a reflection of his internal life. Self-Observation is a key pillar in the process of Mental Alchemy. Man must strive for awareness of his every thought, word, & action. Anytime he witnesses a negative thought come to consciousness, it is his duty to immediately investigate the origins of that thought. The average Man may feel baffled as to why he would have to do such a thing. Are his thoughts not the product of his private consciousness? How do his thoughts impact his life or the life of others in any way? Well, thoughts emit extremely strong waves of energy. These waves of energy are ultimately what dictates Man’s fate. If Man’s inner thought-life is dominated by negativity, his external conditions will inevitably follow suit. Negativity will be prevalent in his outer life. If Man desires a positive love-filled environment, he must nurture a positive love-filled environment within his own being. Through consistent Self-Observation, Man learns to recognize & discern positive thought & behavioural-patterns from negative thought & behavioural-patterns.
2) Self-Cleansing
Once Man has identified the harmful thoughts & emotions he harbours within, his next step is to cleanse his inner life of such negative frequencies of energy. He attentively investigates the origins of his relationships with each trigger of negativity. If he observes himself reacting negatively to a certain situation, his task becomes to investigate the root of the reaction. Man will notice that many of these roots have their origin in childhood & adolescent conditioning. Those are times when Man had as of yet very little awareness in regard to his thoughts & emotions. In those times is when he developed detrimental habits to his mental conditioning. Those habits have been replaying themselves over the years in a variety of shapes & forms, waiting hopelessly for Man to notice them & come to terms with them. In going through his storehouse of memories, Man will encounter many painful recollections. It is his task to crystalize each painful moment into Experience. He does this through active understanding & forgiveness of himself & his fellow humans. Now he may wonder as to how & why he should forgive someone or something that has inflicted pain onto his being. A quick recap of some Laws of Nature will provide him with sufficient material to re-structure his ill-mental habits.
Principle of Cause & Effect
The principle of Cause & Effect is always in motion. Each Cause has its Effect; Each Effect has its Cause. Not a single act has ever been committed out of pure luck. Man often finds it hard to recall the first Cause that enabled a chain of consequences that have led him to his current predicament. Nonetheless, there is always a Cause preceding an Effect. Any perceived pain inflicted onto him by a fellow human is never out of pure evil. There are specific Causes & Effects that led this human to behave the way he did. As a matter of fact, evil is simply ignorance veiled in negativity. When Man perceives himself as separate from the rest of the Universe, he finds a tendency to act selfishly. He believes that he can get away with it. He believes that it is beneficial for himself. Once Man realizes that he is an Individual Centre of Consciousness playing his part in the Infinite Cosmic Consciousness, he understands that he cannot separate himself from who he is. He cannot separate himself from the other Individual Centres of Consciousness nor from the Cosmic Whole.

Unfortunately for the ignorant Man, the Principle of Rhythm is Universally in motion. Man has always observed this principle on the physical plane, be it through the rising & fall of nations, the rising & fall of the Sun, or the rising & fall of the ocean. However, Man has mistakenly turned a blind eye to the fact that this principle is also in full effect on the mental plane. The Law of Karma is simply the Universal Principle of Rhythm in motion. What goes around comes around. What Man emits into the Universe; he receives. The negative action is always followed by the negative reaction. The positive reaction always follows the positive action. The swing of the pendulum is always in effect.
Principle of Polarity
The Principle of Polarity underlies the Principle of Rhythm. Everything manifested in the Universe has two poles, two opposites. These opposites are essentially the same in kind, yet infinitely different in degree. For instance, on the physical plane, hot/cold are merely different degrees of the same thing. You may also find hard/soft, gas/solid, or alive/dead as different examples of pairs of opposites. The Principle of Polarity is also in full effect on the mental plane of Man. Love/hate are essentially the same emotion, just experienced at different spectrums of the polarity scale. Joy/sadness is another example, as is fear/courage. Within these extremes does the Principle of Rhythm operate. Whenever one polarity is being manifested, its opposite is always existent in the unmanifested state. Man chooses which pole he wishes to manifest. The potential for manifestation of either-or is always present.

3) Self-Polarization
Once Man has grasped the different Principles underlying the Manifestation of Life, he may truly become a Master of Mental Transmutation. Essentially, what this practice of Alchemy consists of is transforming the negative mental habits into positive mental habits. Recognizing the presence of the Principle of Polarity in all thoughts & manifestations, he aims to transmute his thought & behavioural-patterns from the negative harmful pole to the positive empowering pole. Man understands that the negative manifested aspect of his thought has a positive unmanifested aspect to it as well. Hate, being the same thing in kind as Love, can be transformed into Love. Fear, being the same in kind as Courage, can be transmuted into Courage. Consequently, Man embarks on the lengthy process of transmuting his thought-life from negative to positive; from undesirable to desirable. Judgemental thought-patterns become empathetic thought-patterns. Anxious thought-patterns become serene thought-patterns. Unreliable behavioural-patterns becomes consistent behavioural-patterns. Unmindful behavioural-patterns becomes self-disciplined behavioural-patterns. By transmuting his inner life, his outer life inevitably follows suit.

The Empowered Individual & his Positive Aspects
Aiming for Mastery, Man tasks himself with transmuting every negative aspect of his mental character. Essentially, he transforms his vices into his virtues. Through this process of Mental Transmutation, he becomes Master of his Mind & of his Character. Instead of being a mere sheep to his thought-life, he tames his thought-life & takes the position of the shepherd. He asserts his Will-Power over his Mental Character & reshapes himself into the successful positive love-filled human he desires to be. Through extensive pain & suffering, he obtains extensive joy & satisfaction.

Birth of the mysterious Alchemical Sentinels
3 months working day and night with an exceptional “dream team"… a big thank you to ACS, Luc, my trusty Giant who could lift a juggernaut onto a balcony (QED Thierry Loir) Thomas Cart'1, Goin, and of course Marc for the paints.
I have managed to set up my installation of 99 raw steel sculptures with an incredibly demanding specification: none of the 3600 work on the DDC site were to be hidden… we had to think about power sources, water crossings, access for construction machinery including the telescopic booms (3m wide)… public safety, ERP museum standards, etc, ... constantly alternating between the visible and the invisible...
Are they inhabited? I don’t know. One thing is certain: each sentinel stands as a unique sculpture in terms of its alchemical elements and paintwork (either with anti-rust paint or voluntarily with paints that do not resist rust). This autumn, each sentinel will reveal – with the acid rain – different interpretations, depending on the paints and solvents used, making each one different, with stratifications that future archaeologists will decipher.
But my most perilous challenge was to create a giant (9000 m²) installation that envelops the Abode of Chaos with dozens of tons of steel, so that my visitors, from any angle, enter a dreamlike fantasy and where the world of the Abode of Chaos on the one hand and that of the 99 monumental sculptures (named "Alchemical Sentinels" during an extremely busy night ) intersect like the Inframince defined by Marcel Duchamp (or, how to build intensities by subtraction).
These 99 Alchemical Sentinels are now the guardians of the Sanctuary that the Abode of Chaos has become. I designed them as veritable quantum energy wells that we placed with patience and wisdom at different spots all over the Abode of Chaos.
There are 99 in total, made of 10mm rough steel (50 tons), welded to form perfect equilateral triangles. Each of the three sides constituting an Alchemical Sentinel is itself cut to reveal a meurtrière, again in the shape of an equilateral triangle, presenting a superb Euclidean geometry to the visitor.
These 99 Alchemical Sentinels are each placed at specific energy points on the 9000 m² of the Abode of Chaos. Some are hidden by vegetation or natural landforms or are placed in relation to existing works. Others are located in our private and professionals spaces.
In my alchemical work that began on 9 December 1999, the three gates arranged in an equilateral triangle with one vertex pointing upwards, form the luminous delta. They represent the three elements that alchemists work with. These three elements are sulphur, mercury and salt.
Note that the three elements found in the Prima Materia (or Alchemical Chaos) are very closely related. The point triangle is also the symbol of the fire philosophers.
The equilateral triangle resting on its base – like the three points – is the symbol of the fire element, one of the four elements that the alchemist works with in the laboratory.
The geometric properties of the equilateral triangle evoke absolute perfection by their spiritual strength and their age-old symbolism going back to ancient Egypt… strength, beauty and harmony.
They will remain for a thousand years as witnesses to a civilization lost through the folly of men.

3 mois de travail jour et nuit, une "dream team" hors du commun, un grand merci à ACS, Luc, mon fidèle Géant qui poserait un 38 T. sur un balcon (cqfd Thierry Loir) Thomas, Cart'1, Goin et bien sûr Marc pour les peintures.
Je suis arrivé à poser mon installation de 99 sculptures d'acier brut avec un cahier des charges de ouf, aucune des 3600 œuvres de la DDC ne devaient être occultées, penser aux sources électriques, les passages d'eau, les voies de transport pour engin de chantier, les nacelles télescopiques (3m de large), protéger le grand public, respecter les normes ERP muséales, etc… Alterner en permanence monstration et effacement…
Sont-elles habitées ? Je l'ignore. Une chose certaine est que chacune, par les éléments alchimiques et les codes peints soit à l'antirouille soit volontairement avec des peintures dégradables par la rouille avec le temps, rend chaque sentinelle comme une sculpture unique. Cet automne chaque sentinelle va laisser apparaître, avec les pluies acides, différents niveaux de lecture, selon les peintures et solvants utilisés, les rendant singulières avec des stratifications que les archéologues des temps futurs décrypteront...
Mais mon défi le plus périlleux, était de créer une installation géante de 9000 m2 qui enveloppe, par des dizaines de tonnes d'acier, la Demeure du Chaos pour que mes visiteurs sur 360 degrés, plongent dans un univers onirique et fantasmagorique où les deux univers que sont la Demeure du Chaos d'une part et d'autre part l'installation des 99 sculptures monumentales (baptisées par une nuit très agitée "Sentinelles Alchimiques") s'entrecroisent selon l'Inframince définit par Marcel Duchamp (ou comment construire des intensités par soustraction).
Ces 99 Sentinelles Alchimiques sont désormais les gardiennes du Sanctuaire que représente la Demeure du Chaos. Je les ai conçus comme de véritable puits d’énergie quantique que je pose avec patience et sagesse sur l’ensemble de la Demeure du Chaos.
Elles sont au nombre de 99, faites d’acier brut de 10 mm (50 tonnes) soudées pour former un triangle équilatéral parfait. Chacun des 3 pans constituant une Sentinelle Alchimique, est lui même découpé pour laisser entrevoir une mystérieuse meurtrière, elle même en forme de triangle équilatéral, donnant ainsi une géométrie Euclidienne au regard du visiteur.
Ces 99 Sentinelles Alchimiques sont chacune à des points d’énergie particuliers de la Demeure du Chaos sur 9000 m2. Certaines se dissimulent par la végétation ou les reliefs naturels ou bien en écho aux autres œuvres, d’autres sont dans les espaces privatifs ou professionnels.
Dans mon travail alchimique démarré le 9 décembre 1999, les trois portes disposées en triangle équilatéral, dont un sommet est dirigé vers le haut, forment le delta lumineux. Elle sont les trois corps sur lesquels l’alchimiste va œuvrer. Ces trois corps sont le soufre, le mercure et le sel.
Soulignons que les trois corps présents dans la Materia Prima ou Chaos alchimique sont étroitement mélangés. Le triangle de point est aussi la marque des philosophes par le feu.
Le triangle équilatéral reposant sur sa base, à la manière des trois points, est le symbole de l’élément feu, l’un des quatre éléments avec lequel l’alchimiste travaille au laboratoire.
Les propriétés géométriques du triangle équilatéral relèvent de la perfection absolue par sa force spirituelle, son symbolisme de la nuit des temps notamment dans l’ancienne Egypte, il est force, beauté et harmonie.
Elles resteront durant mille ans comme les témoins d’une civilisation disparue par la folie des hommes

We went to a special Friends-of-Yorkshire-Sculpture-Park event this evening, an exclusive viewing of the final stage of a research and development project "Hot Heads" by pa-Boom (www.pa-boom.com).
The project was designed to create, build and test a series of large scale sculptural human head braziers/fire sculptures, and tonight was the first public lighting of them.
They reminded me very much of the work of Juame Plensa (who so far has been my favourite exhibition at the sculpture park).
Armed with a complementary hot chocolate and slice of parkin, we headed over to the burn site, where the 3 large heads were duely set alight- there's something very beautiful about fire, and it was interesting to see how they came alive and changed over time as the charcoal slowly caught fire and over time glowed and decomposed.
The heads themselves were very well constructed, with the metal mesh frame containing and keeping the shape of the heads as the charcoal burnt and also controlling the burn - being a relatively small managable crowd it was refreshing at an event like this to actually be allowed close to the fires - they were roped off a little, but realistically you couldnt stand next to the rope for any length of time they were packing so much heat (infact I felt positively freezing wondering back from a little to take a wide shot!)
I'm looking forward to see where the project leads next - it made for a wonderful autumn evening and i'd do it again at the drop of a hat!

Mahakala is a form of Lord Shiva. He is the almighty that runs the universe along with his consort, Kali. He is the one who is believed to control the Kala or time. He at last swallows the whole Universe and himself ultimately gets devourest in Kali. Mahakala is relied upon in all schools of Ladakhi and much later Tibetan Buddhism. Mahakala is typically black in color.
Just as all colors are absorbed and dissolved into black, all names and forms are said to melt into those of Mahakala, symbolizing his all-embracing, comprehensive nature. Black can also represent the total absence of color, and again in this case it signifies the nature of Mahakala as ultimate or absolute reality. This principle is known in Sanskrit as "nirguna", beyond all quality and form, and it is typified by both interpretations. Mahakala is almost always depicted with a crown of five skulls, which represent the transmutation of the five kleshas (negative afflictions) into the five wisdoms.
