This is the smallest Top Food I've seen that was obviously built by them; Aberdeen is smaller but obviously was not built by them.
There’s no stopping the hype train for Top Gun Maverick. The long-awaited sequel is scheduled to hit theaters in summer 2022, and production is well underway. While we wait for the release, fans are eagerly speculating about what will happen in the new movie. Will there be a love story? Who will be the villain?
If you’re a fan of the Top Gun franchise, then you’re in for a treat. The upcomingTop Gun: Maverick is set to be one of the most expensive movies ever made.
According to reports, the film has a budget of over $350 million. That’s not even including the cost of marketing and promotion, which is estimated to be around $100 million.
To put that into perspective, Avengers: Infinity War had a production budget of $316 million. And that doesn’t include marketing costs, which boosted the total budget to over $400 million.
So what’s making Top Gun: Maverick so expensive? Here are some of the most expensive details about the movie:

I made this shirt with materials salvaged from an Oregon tourist shirt from the Sea Lion Caves-- but you'd never know it now! I sliced it up and tried out a new technique (for me!)-- knotting strands to form part of the top. I just LOVE it-- it's super sexy on alone and looks GREAT over a layer!
There are 3 cams on the shutter speed dial shaft. I’ve indicated them with red lines on this photo.
The top line points to the cam that controls the booster spring, which affects the rotational speed of the shutter disc. The booster has 3 positions:
the highest point is the fastest speed, for 1/500. The lower point is for medium speed, for 1/100. All other speeds, including 1/250, the booster spring is disengaged and the disc runs at its slow speed.
The next red line points to the follower lever that rides on the delay engagement cam. This has steps at several levels, stepping up and down as you turn the dial from one speed to the next. This lever moves the delay gears in and out of the way of the disc in stages: the deeper it engages, the farther the gears have to spin before getting back out of the way so the disc can move on. The gears are engaged to one extent or another for almost all speeds - all except 1/250 and 1/500.
The bottom red line points to the lever that engages the escapement pallet into the delay gears. The escapement pallet works like the pendulum of a clock, making the gears run slower. So there are two speeds to the delay gears, in addition to three speeds of the disc rotation and several steps of engagement of the gears with the disc.
So here are the basic conditions:
500: booster spring at high setting, no delay gears.
250: no booster spring, no delay gears.
100: booster spring at medium setting, delay gears engaged, no pallet.
50: no booster spring, delay gears engaged, no pallet.
25: no booster spring, delay gears engaged, no pallet.
10: no booster spring, delay gears engaged, pallet engaged.
5: no booster spring, delay gears engaged, pallet engaged.
2: no booster spring, delay gears engaged, pallet engaged.
The speed difference between 10-5-2 is a matter of how deeply the delay gears are engaged = how far they have to be pushed back out of the way before the disc can close.
Originally, this was Jeremiah Ambler & Sons, Ltd, Midland Mills, Bradford, Combers, spinners and weavers of all kinds of wool and hair. The company itself was established in 1783, but did not move here until nearly a hundred years later in 1871 when this place was built. Jeremiah himself is buried in nearby Undercliffe cemetery. Leeds University hold many of the early business records for here. More recently this place was British Mohair Supplies Limited, and it closed eleven years ago. Today, little remains.
I say little remains. This part of the mill is heroin central. Needles and foil are scattered on the floor everywhere, along with blankets and old coats.I normally ignore the remnants of drug taking, but we spent some time looking. It was a pretty sobering sight. It's not on T.V, or in a film. It was clear that this was the bottom rung of the ladder of life. There was no other step down, except to death. Luckily, there was no one at home today, but there has been recently. Midland Mills is earmarked for flats. At sometime in the last 5 years, the weaving sheds have gone.
Sooner or later, Midland Mills will be converted into upmarket apartments, and the last whispers of its industrial past silenced with laminate flooring and plasterboard. In the meantime it waits for the developers, trashed, empty and dangerous. I loved it.
