up on top of space mountain
this was one of the coldest nights I have ever experienced it was absolutely FREEZING up there and so we had tons of people all squished into the Wonder Bus cuddling for warmth. Awesome awesome dubsteppy music playing all day and all night right outside and looking over that beautiful city of lights and the mountain ranges. Just an awesome party
inside the cloud. It was freezing, slippery, and too bright. I could barely move my fingers. I was afraid to move my feet because I was wearing leather sole shoes. I wish i had my mountain climbing shoes and a pair of gloves when I was there. Oh well.
The 41 Complex Fires consisted of 5 lightning caused fires that burned more than 15,200 acres on the Darby Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. All of the fires were located in the Sapphire Mountains approximately 10 miles east of Hamilton. The largest fire, Up Top, grew to more than 12,300 acres and burned across Skalkaho Highway, closing the road to motorists for several weeks. The fire burned completely around the historic Gird Point Lookout which was saved by firefighters. More than 530,000 gallons of water and 150,000 gallons of fire retardant were dropped on the fires and more than 350 firefighters were assigned to the 41 Complex. One of my goals for the buckwheat mead is to try bottling it with a few different flavorings. I'd like one of its expressions to be an herbal digestive, similar to Fernet Branca or Underberg.
To that end, I'm producing an herbal bitters to bottle with the mead. We'll put this in resealable bottles, so you can have a little bit after dinner. It won't be a hard drinkin' mead.
We also plan to bottle the buckwheat in three other ways:
1. Plain, similar to a chouchen. It's going to be higher in alcohol than a traditional chouchen (about 18%), but I'll be very happy if the flavor is in the right direction.
2. With a tea made from roasted cacao beans. We have an excellent local source for raw cacao.
3. With a strong English style black tea.
View from the top of Austalia. This was on Boxing Day which is still Chistmas in the northern hemisphere so I guess you could say we did have a white Christmas.
I missed this prompt earlier this week but had already bought these primroses for a little touch of spring color:) This was taken top down with the painted tray right on the floor in front of a storm door.
