You might feel down&out sometimes, but the simple fact that you can read this, on a computer/tablet/phone screen, most likely inside your own house, while there's enough food in the fridge, and nobody is shooting at you, means that you are privileged and lucky, you are not hungry or sick, you are not in some kind of war-zone and you are mostly free to do as you please...isn't that great? There are people who are not this fortunate, and I'm sure they'd be happy to be in your position right now...or possibly even on top of the 'I amsterdam' letters, one of the best places in the world to witness a beautiful sunset :)

I like this top and I think it will get several more outings. The necklace is different from that worn by my wife, though both were hers. I'm wearing an owl pendant and the owl is on the coat of arms for my village - adopted from the family whose land this was. It might be of interest to US followers as one member of the family was Captain Miles Standish of Pilgrim Father's fame and for his courtship
Lowari Pass (or Lowari Top) (el. 10,230 ft.) is a high mountain pass that connects Chitral with Dir in the North West Frontier Province, Pakistan. Lowari Top is a relatively low pass, by far the lowest pass to enter Chitral, the rest all being 12,000 to 15,000 feet.
Lowari Top is closed by snow from late November to late May every year. During this time, jeeps cannot cross so men must travel by foot. This is dangerous, as there are high mountains on each side of Lowari Top, and a deadly avalanche can come at any moment without warning.
Every winter a few persons are killed by avalanches while crossing Lowari Top. Their bodies are buried under the snow and it is only when the summer comes and the snow melts that their bodies are found and their fate learned.
Nevertheless, Lowari Top remains popular because it is the shortest route from Chitral to Peshawar. The other way would be down the Kunar River to Jalalabad through hostile Afghan Territory or the much longer route across Shandur Top to Gilgit.
Lowari Top crosses the Hindu Raj Mountains, a spur of the higher Hindu Kush. On the Chitral side of Lowari Top are the people of Ashret, who speak the Phalura language and were assigned by the Mehtar of Chitral to be the guardians of Lowari Top.
On the Dir side reside Gujjars, some of whom make their living as porters carrying loads across Lowari Top.
In 1954, the Mehtar of Chitral was killed when his airplane crashed into Lowari Top. Even today, PIA pilots often turn back because of winds and fear of crossing Lowari Top.
The word "Top" is believed not to be the English word "top" but a word from an ancient language no longer spoken there.
The Lowari Top is one of the four major mountain passes to enter Chitral. The others are the Dorah Pass from Badakshan in Afghanistan, Shandur Top from Gilgit, and Broghol from the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan.
The Lowari Tunnel is currently being constructed beneath Lowari Pass by a Korean company. Completion is expected in October 2008.

Estou respondendo a ultima tag do ano, e eu fui indicada pela Rapha. Rapha, obrigada por me escolher, você é uma querida!
Preciso dizer que foi muito difícil escolher apenas 15 esmaltes pra essa tag e muitos queridos ficaram de fora, mas pra diminuir a lista eu escolhi aqueles que aconteceram algum fato importante enquanto eu estava usando o esmalte, e isso me ajudou a escolher os 15 que aqui estão. Vamos lá?
1 – Melancia (Colorama): um vermelho lindo, bem aberto. Lindo demais.
2 – Verde (Assédio): esse verde eu ganhei da Dinn. Além dele ter a cor do Shrek, brilho e cobertura incríveis, eu o usei na Aliança do Esmalte.
3 – Açaí (Colorama): quem em acompanha deve saber o que aconteceu quando eu estava usando esse esmalte: conheci o Sérgio Marone. Eu já era fã dele há tempos, mas depois que o conheci, o abracei, beijei, senti o perfume (hahaha), fiquei mais fã ainda, ele é MUITO simpático e fofo, e fiquei mais fã ainda! E eu nunca que imaginava que um dia eu iria conhecê-lo Né? Pra mim era algo quase inatingível, mas ainda bem que não foi! O Açaí vai ficar guardado pra sempre no coração e na memória!
4 – Thaísa (Hits): o primeiro cinza que eu usei, muito lindo e delicado. Ele tem uns brilhinhos que somem na unha, mas que dão um charme especial à cor!
5 – Rock (Colorama): preto com brilhinhos verdes lindimais! Além dele eu fiz essa nail art de zebrinha que eu achei que ficou lindaaaaaaa! Afinal a zebra é branca de listras pretas ou preta de listras brancas? Quero ver se alguém aí sabe!
6 – Luxo! (Ana Hickmann): a Ana é minha diva, acho ela o máximo, mesmo. E tbm sei que ela participa da criação dos esmaltes, mas esse esmalte não poderia ter um nome melhor, pq simplesmente ele é um luxo! Não sei nem descrever essa cor, um arraso!
7 – Roxo Fluorescente (QTock): coloquei ele aqui, nem tanto por causa da cor (que é linda, sim) mas foi pq eu fiz a combinação com o anelar amarelo, e nunca tinha usado o anelar tão diferente assim! Hhahahaha.
8 – Filó (Impala): o branquinho lindo com fundinho vermelho que ganhou meu coração. Lindo.
9 - Linda (Ellen Gold): esse esmalte é super pigmentado e tá escrito no vidro que é tranparente, mas enfim... Não sei se ele é roxo, ou lilás, só sei que ele tem uma pegada neon e é muito lindo, mesmo.
10 – Misturinha Militar: fiz essa misturinha com base no chá gelado, que eu não acho nunca aqui na minha cidade, e no pé usei o absinto. Achei que super combinou!
11 – Vampira Fake Polish: esse esmalte eu usei pra ir pra Curitiba/PR em outubro com a faculdade. Aproveitei e fiz a famosa unha Louboutin. Fez o maior sucesso. Pra fazer usei o Luar da Passe Nati, uma camada do gliter Prata da Impala, e uma do Lidiane da Ellen Gold.
12 – 61 (Nfu-Oh): não preciso escrever nada né?
13 – Salto Alto (Colorama): comprei esse esmalte por impulso e quando vi fiz cara de BLEH, mas foi amor na primeira pincelada. Ele tem uma cor bem diferente dos vermelhos que eu tenho, super bonito e diferente.
14 – Luísa (Hits): não sou fã de marrons, mas esse ganhou o meu coração, principalmente por ele ser fosco!
15 – Esmeralda (Cora): esse eu ganhei da Dinn e minha câmera não capta a cor dele de jeito nenhum. Só quem tem pra saber a perfeição desse esmalte. Não poderia ficar de fora! (Agora que eu vi que dois dos esmaltes que eu ganhei da Dinn estão aqui: o Assédio e o Cora)
Meninas, eu queria desejar a todas vocês um FELIZ ANO NOVO, com muita paz no coração, saúde, amor, sucesso, unhas forte e grandes, e que vocês tenham muitas realizações no ano de 2011.
