Saw this while on a school field trip with my daughter and thought it might be a good fit for the Nikon D40/x/D60 Challenge: Top Down.
Je vous retrouve avec grand plaisir dans 10 jours . UN grand merci à tous pour vos visites et commentaires .

British Soldiers lichen growing on top of a wooden post. The red spore-bearing bodies (from the fungus part of this mixture of fungus and algae) are characteristic of this type. The scientific name is Cladonia cristatella.
There seems to be some green algae growing in the depressions of the growth rings.
Finished today! I absolutely love it. I took it to my machine quilting class and am full of ideas, though I'll probably go simple with this one, since the baby is due at the end of August.
For those interested, I used 1.5 yards of each of the solids and bits and pieces of 13 different fat quarters of Amy Butler's Midwest Modern line. The finished top is 42" by 56".

Tip Top Tailors, Richmond Street. They moved out of here in 1929. The Tip Top sign appears to be superimposed on another one. As of 2025, this is still visible.
Another image from the Chaika in New York City. I like the diptych here, of both ends of the building. I really love these buildings- I took a LOT of photos of them.
I also took a lot of photos of the marina. It was kind of fun scanning this set of film- I took a lot of photos with the chaika that I also took with other cameras. I think when it is all done I will do some comparisons. Same object, different camera.
