caught up with domestic matters and have little time to be here at the moment, and tomorrow is an Elsie day (yippee!) and will do what I can for the next few days . . .feel sure I shall be back to normal (whatever that may be) by the end of the week . . .
Farewell to Apollo, the Sun of Ancient Greece. Apollo at sunset. It would seem that this reflects the world as the first quarter of the 21st century approaches it's closing. Reason, intelligence, critical analysis, clarity, vision, responsibility, accountability, true justice and fairness, a sense of social connection and mutual co-operation, self sacrifice for the greater good, etc, etc. These are considered "Apollonian" attributes. It would seem now that these things are disappearing behind our collective horizon as we head, perhaps shivering, into the deepness of night.
If we follow the metaphor, however, night is not eternal. Ra, another solar figure, disappears under the horizon at night where he journeys through the "underworld" while the world is in darkness. He is still there, just unseen. As the eastern horizon begins to turn from black into indigo and ultramarine, we can already feel his returning advance.
I hope it won't be very long.

"Perhaps that is very reason I not rest, da? To guide my son to victory!"
"You have been guiding me in my heart all this time, sir."

“When he [Malevranche] happened to find Descartes' book entitled Man in a book shop on the rue Saint Jaques, he leafed through it, bought it and "read it with so much pleasure that he was forced at times to interrupt his reading, so loud were the beatings of his heart due to the extreme pleasure he had in doing so". Those who never put down a book of erudition, science or philosophy, to catch their breath, so to speak, and recover from the strong emotion they experience, certainly ignore of of the most exquisite pleasures of intellectual life.”

I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude.

R 707 takes regular mainline trips around Victoria. Unfortunately for us the line that passes about 300 metres from us is no longer considered a mainline since the completion of the regional rail link in 2015.

Returning to land after months and traversing tens of thousands of solitary miles wandering over open ocean, this mōlī, or Laysan albatross, was one of the first to arrive at the nesting site for this year’s breeding season. This female bird was color banded V141 on 30 April 2015 after hatching in February 2015, making her almost eight years old in this photo.
the past isn't dead
it's alive, it is happening
in the back of my head
no future, no past
no laws of time
can undo what is happening
when i close my eyes
with the stars and the moon
i woke up in the night
Conway Scenic’s Notch train crosses Willey Brook as they head back to North Conway. Noticing that year the train only ran to Crawfords on certain days offered opportunities of crossing the bridge not in shadows. Not another soul around until after the train passed.
