The Vroenhoven Bridge near Riemst at the Belgian border is one of the three bridges across the Prince Albert Canal, where the German attack on Belgium started during the second world war. The bridge features remainders of a bunker, a memorial site and a small (very interesting) museum.

Back to Greenland with a series of new images. Different approach in post-processing as I felt colors were somewhat detracting from the icebergs themselves. Shooting conditions turned for the better on the last day with low clouds and heavy fog, a significant change from the cloudless dark blue skies we had experienced during the week. A fox poised to pounce on its prey in a field on Ham HIll in Gloucestershire. This attempt was unsuccessful and its prey whatever it was escaped! This was one of a pair of foxes I saw when out with the camera this morning, it is the first time i've been out in over six weeks and the sun was out for most of the day. It's been so long since I last saw it that i'd almost forgotten what it looked like! ho ho ho!

The obvious words that sprang to my mind when first viewing the marvelous 600 steps at the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte near Braga, Portugal was Stairway to Heaven. This basilica with its Manueline Baroque staircase is truly amazing. Penitents have been known to climb these stairs on their knees.
