To give approximate scale, the mouth is 60' and narrows to 40', and the height is 20'. The photo makes it appear to be much smaller. I've been keeping an eye on drainage cave for years and it appears it doesn't have much life left in it. Last year at this time it was about 200 feet lower down the mountain and 300 the year before.

A mere 45 minutes from Berlin Alexanderplatz, this was the base of the largest "political" youth organization in the German Democratic Republic.
the "High School" of the FDJ (Freie Deutsche Jugend ) was hosted here since the '50s,
it's a monumental set of buildings in the middle of the forest close to the Boden lake (Bodensee).
The compound is dedicated to Wilhelm Pieck, the only President of the German Democratic Republic, and is a "monument of socialism."

I totally empathise with Hermione, if I had the chance to turn back time simply to read and learn more I definitely would.

The bustling town of Manigango at an altitude of 3960 m. Despite its"wild west"ambience, in the grassland to the south, there is an active hermitage affiliated to Dzogchen Monastery, known as Yazer Gon, and, in town, opposite the bus stand, there is a small Mani Lhakhang. Manigango is now a fast developing township, with medical facilities, schools, a small hotel, guesthouses, shops and restaurants. Some 23 km east of Manigango, a motorable road leaves the Kandze highway and the Yi chu valley, via a side bridge and heads north to Yilhun township. Here, in August, there is a small but interesting horse festival, held on a wide plain below the local monastery and village.

To get from Nice to London, I opted to fly on British Airways. A decade earlier, I was a BA Gold Card member. I booked this NCE-LHR without much enthusiasm, aware that the cheeseparing regime of former CEO Alex Cruz had imposed draconian cuts to the airline’s standards of comfort and service. The Economy Class seat-pitch had been tightened to an unacceptable 29 inches (Ryanair offers better) and food was strictly buy-on-board. So I forked out $672 for a 1-way Club Class ticket for a 31-inch seat pitch and free scoff. This was the food offering - OK, but nothing to excite the palate. The service was OK, but ditto: BA cabin staff can be friendly or totally aloof and even perfunctory. The flight was punctual and I had no issues with checked-in luggage. I give it a 7/10 rating, but I won’t rushing back to BA anytime soon.

I'm going to be moving this month, and that will take me further away from Flickr than I am right now. I think the solution is to post on Flickr as I can, but keep my comments few and far between. I won't forget about you, please don't forget about me. PLEASE!!! I will be back asap! My life has been a whirlwind since Jake died. I'm expecting this move to help financially, The new place is right up the road from me 2 1/2 miles; almost into town. It's not the country, but it's pretty close to it, as well as pretty close to town. I miss Jake soooo much!!! This is stressful. I'm working on calming down.
On a recent weekend trip to Atlanta, we stopped at the Mall of Georgia. I picked up this suit jacket and vest. I've been needing a suit for years, and I finally pulled the trigger. Spearking of "triggers," I was going for a mafia look on this one. I think it looks pretty good...but it looks better large on black.

Today I sent postcard to old friend.
She sent me a postcard.
(eventhough we keep in touch via Facebook)
I think writing on paper and pass to postman's hand
is romantic communication.
Mirrors are not more silent
nor the creeping dawn more secretive;
in the moonlight, you are that panther
we catch sight of from afar.
By the inexplicable workings of a divine law,
we look for you in vain;
More remote, even, than the Ganges or the setting sun,
yours is the solitude, yours the secret.
Your haunch allows the lingering
caress of my hand. You have accepted,
since that long forgotten past,
the love of the distrustful hand.
You belong to another time. You are lord
of a place bounded like a dream.
Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986)

A un gato
No son más silenciosos los espejos
ni más furtiva el alba aventurera;
eres, bajo la luna, esa pantera
que nos es dado divisar de lejos.
Por obra indescifrable de un decreto
divino, te buscamos vanamente;
más remoto que el Ganges y el poniente,
tuya es la soledad, tuyo el secreto.
Tu lomo condesciende a la morosa
caricia de mi mano. Has admitido,
desde esa eternidad que ya es olvido,
el amor de la mano recelosa.
En otro tiempo estás. Eres el dueño
de un ámbito cerrado como un sueño.

26033 is seen heading through Princes Street Gardens on 4th May 1981 with an Edinburgh to Dundee working.
When photographed this was a long time Inverness loco but would be reallocated to Haymarket a year later and then put into storage only 5 months after that due to main generator problems. It was never repaired and finally withdrawn in 1985, cut up in 1987.
I went all the way up towards Mount Tryfan in Snowdonia to get some stunning winter themed shots, but I just had to bring along some light painting gadgets! I just felt naked without them ;)

This small railway company makes and sells rice cracker dipped in soy sauce that is called "Nure-Senbei". The sale helps this company very much to maintain the train service. If you visit there, try this nice cracker. I guarantee it must be yummy!
I'll upload more pics of Choshi Dentetsu (Choshi Electric Railway) later.
To me,there is nothing more refreshing or soothing than hearing the sound of waves crashing up against the shore. In comparison, there is nothing more annoying than hearing horns being blown and police sirens bellowing outside your window like they are at this very moment, arghhhh!!! I know where I would rather be right now.....

poor little guy got stuck coming up the stairs onto the porch. i can't help but think he's wondering why i'm taking pictures rather than helping him up.
in a week, he'll probably be taking the stairs two at a time.

Winchester Science Centre is hosting The Observatory Artists Studios from January through to July 2015.
This project is being run through an external organisation called SPUD. The aim of the project is to create a sculptural installation that becomes an intervention, a space, a platform, a shelter, a look-out for a series of artist’s residencies to take place. The intervention has been designed through a competition that encourages collaborations between artists, architects and engineers and students.
Three different artists are working in the space before it moves to its next location at the South Dorset Ridgeway.
Winchester Science Centre (previously known as INTECH) is a hands-on, interactive, science and technology centre located in Morn Hill, just outside the city of Winchester in Hampshire, England. Opened in 2002 after major grants from amongst others the Millennium Commission, IBM, SEEDA and Hampshire County Council it replaced an existing facility in a more functional building in Winchester.
The centre houses over 100 activities, all of which link in with the National Curriculum for schools. During term time it is used mainly by local schools and days out, while at week ends and holidays it attracts a wider audience. The dome is now a state-of-the-art digital planetarium seating 176.
Winchester Science Centre offers a main exhibition area with the hands-on science exhibits. In addition Winchester Science Centre features a digital planetarium that offers a full-dome experience and a variety of live daily shows suitable both children and adults. The centre also offers school visits by their new mobile planetarium with shows that are both engaging and relevant to the curriculum.
The on-site education team offer a variety of tailored workshops for primary and secondary level students within the Winchester Science Centre classrooms and out-reach is also offered. Workshops include 'Data logging', 'Parts of a flower', 'Electrical Conductors' and 'Explore your universe' as well as many other options. Winchester Science Centre are also proud to offer workshops for CAD/CAM in partnership with Techsoft.
The one-site workshop team make and maintain the majority of the exhibits and also are contracted by other science centres and schools to make bespoke pieces, such as the recently designed 'Stem-Cell Volcano'.
Winchester Science Centre is the Contract Holder for STEMNET in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. As Contract Holder, the Science Centre brokers relationships with over 700 trained STEM Ambassadors each of whom volunteer their time for free to secondary schools in the area. The Science Centre also offers educational advice to teachers.
The "After Dark" and "Saturday Night at the Planetarium", Space and Science Lectures are a popular addition to the programme and are tailored towards adults.
As well as all of this Winchester Science Centre also runs Singles Events and the venue is available to hire for private or corporate functions.
The Science Centre also has an on-site cafe facility called "Chompers".

Alright so here is the story according to the owner:
"0750 was delivered new to Caracas-Venezuela in 1958. The owner took 0750 to the Cuban Grand Prix in 196 (the GP where Juan Manuel Fangio was abducted by the Castro rebels) The driver was killed in a practice crash and the car was destroyed. The engine went to California and most of the rest of the car went to Italy. 250 GTE (#2843) was used in the 1980s to reconstruct the car. I bought the car in 1989 in boxes from Italy with Joe Marchetti and had Wayne Obry of Motion Products in Nennan Wi put it back together in 1993"
According to a Ferrari enthusiast:
"Back in November, 2000, 0750 TR was at Terry Hoyle's shop in England, owned at the time by Bernie Carl. It was rumored that it was one of several 250 Testa Rossas numbered 0750 TR. So it's possible that there are/were more than one 250 TR numbered 0750 TR, and with that possibility comes the possibility that there's more than one engine stamped 0750 TR. Also, the engine from 0750 TR has been seen in other 250 TRs, including 0710 and 0718.
I saw a 250 TR engine, stamped 0750 TR, 16 May 2010, in a 625 TRC, s/n 0672 MDTR, when Bruce Meyer brought it to the annual Concorso Italiano on Colorado Blvd., in Old Pasadena, CA.
I don't know if engine 0750 is still in 0672 MDTR, but because of the maybe-true rumor that there was more than one 250 TR stamped 0750 TR, it stands to reason that there was more than one engine stamped 0750 TR.
So it IS possible that 2843 GT, the Series I 250 GTE 2+2-turned-250TR-replica in these images has a 250 TR engine that wears serial number 0750 TR; but, as of this moment, it's still unclear as to WHO has the REAL 250 TR engine stamped 0750 TR from the factory. So, additional research must be conducted.
As for the story surrounding the real 0750 TR, it's true. It was a standard customer car, originally owned by an Italian club racer. Around 1959, it was sold to Ettore Chimeri of Venezuela, who crashed it during practice for the Cuban Grand Prix in Havana, in February, 1960. Chimeri was killed, and the car was badly burned and stripped for parts. After that, the engine found its way to California, first installed in 0710, then in 0718. Meanwhile, the remains of the 0750 chassis and body were imported to France.
By 1988, Ron Spangler of the Prancing Horse Farm was reconstructing the remains of 0750 TR; he had an unnumbered engine block, but the timing case was numbered 0750. A year later, engine 0750 TR was for sale through Bob Parrish at Grand Prix Motors of Seattle, WA. Fast forward to November, 2000, and that's when 0750 TR (the whole car, not just the engine) was seen in England at Terry Hoyle's shop.
Quite a story; quite a history. Then again, most Ferraris of this age have lived extraordinary lives"
Either way, it was extremely loud and cool to see
In a matter of about five minutes we went from being surrounded by cloud to being in brilliant sunshine - mountains always seem better when nature hides them and then whips away the covering in such a dramatic fashion.
To make my Esmeralda more movie accurate, I at first tied her hair elastic hair band, for it looked shorter and more movie accurate. I also slightly lowered her sleeves and took away the tinsel from her left hand. Now I'm going to give her another body, as it very annoys me.
If I ever do work again.....If I ever do move out of here.....If I ever do get out of debt and have money again.....
I am going to build a house that looks like the Landmark Building at Los Angeles Airport has crashed into a side of a moutain - flying saucer meets terra firma. It will be modern and futuristic, but incorporate elements of earth and wood and rock. It will be space age and stone age. It will be my fortress and my retreat. And best of all, it will be mine.
Until then, I will dream about it. It will be my wish and my desire. When I defeat my fears.....when I conquer my depression.....when I manage the stress and anxiety of this existence.....when I grow up.....
It will be mine.
Someday.....

I have tickets to a Charles Lloyd Concert at the Musical Instrument Museum. I am a member. I wanted to familiarize myself with the Museum before the concert so I toured it. It is an incredible treasure in my backyard. A target rich environment for photographers.
The sign reads:
Khong mon (gong chime)
Thailand, mid-20th c.
Bronze, wood, glass, cowskin
Typically played at Thai funerals,
these tuned gongs are mounted on a
frame decorated with the figure of a
thep kinnaree, a woman-swan hybrid
from Thai mythology.
MIM began with a vision to create a musical instrument museum that would be truly global. Realizing most musical museums featured historic, primarily Western classical instruments, MIM’s founder Bob Ulrich (then CEO of Target Corporation) was inspired to develop a new kind of museum that would focus on the kind of instruments played every day by people worldwide. A focus on the guest experience shaped every aspect of the museum’s development. From the beginning, our goal has been to deliver a musical experience that is enriching, inspiring, interesting, and fun.
Today, MIM has a collection of more than 7,500 instruments from more than 200 world countries and territories. The galleries reflect the rich diversity and history of many world cultures. But music and instruments also show us what we have in common—a thought powerfully expressed in our motto, music is the language of the soul.
MIM’s immersive exhibits foster an appreciation of diverse cultures and the craftsmanship and traditions of instrument makers from the past to the present. A visit to MIM is also about experiencing the sensory nature of music and how it affects our emotions. Through state-of-the-art, interactive media, guests can see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts.

Song
Instead of a kiss
Baby this is a
Song
Instead of a kiss
For all of you who ache, who long
For nights like this
Song
Instead of a touch
Darlin' this is a
Song
Instead of a touch
To all of you who wait so long
And need so much
It is for those who like to cling
It is to those, to those I sing
Here is a song instead of a clutch
Instead of a moon
Instead of a soothing touch
In the afternoon
It is for those who like to cling
It is to those, to those I sing
Here is a song instead of a clutch
Instead of a moon
Instead of a soothing touch
