He likes Lighthouses....
Leila.
e ela queria andar gostoso...
Finalmente encontrou a sandália imaginada
experimentou, pagou,
chegou em casa,
pôs vestido que combinasse com as tiras endiabradas
sentiu-se vestida com menos timidez
Decidiu sair...
Antes acendeu uma vela
em cor rubra, vibrante, sedutora...
admitiu a si mesma que nao sabia
se inteira ou em farrapos voltaria
E uma vela, votiva, amigável
seria boa idéia, deixar esperando por ela,
tremulando em tímida chama segura...
Sabia que não queria mais nada amargo
ainda que tivesse muito amor pra dar
também agora sabia,
dos riscos de sabores amargos
que poderia novamente
experimentar...
Caminhando pelas ruas,
ainda sem rumo em mente
levou um susto vendo de relance,
refletida nas vitrines da rua
uma mulher esvoaçante
a caminhar junto com ela...
De unhas pintadas em cores atrevidas,
sandálias de tiras em passos largos
em ritmo ondulante
um rosto com lábios
em curva sorridentes,
como que sonhando
como que amando
e foi então que soltou
uma gargalhada inesperada
Era ela a mulher refletida
Diferente, de ar doído,
um toque de amargura e de doçura
ares de quem sabia devorar a carne do amante
mas, também conhecia o gosto,
de ser devorada pelo amor..
ora doce... ora amargamente...
Respirou fundo,
de saudades do passado, esperanças no futuro
e seguiu em frente... ainda sem rumo,
com suas unhas pintadas, suas sandálias de tiras
sem rebolar, mas sutilmente em ritmo ondulante...

before the bay of palma awakens, the day murmurs its arrival through the whispers of dawn. clouds part like curtains unveiling a stage, rays of light cascade, each a gentle touch on the slumbering sea. the silhouette of the distant mountains stands as the eternal audience, witnessing the slow brightening of the world. it’s a serene symphony where each element plays its part in harmony, the sea reflecting the sky’s moody hues, the land a dark contrast to the awakening sky. in this quiet hour, time pauses, allowing the earth to inhale the promise of a new day, a subtle interlude before life resumes its pace.
The cloud of smoke clears, the rumbling, shuffling, plopping, and fizzing stop. There's a eeriness in the air. Then Lugosi and Wesson hear a 'click'. They prepare for the worse.
But it's Parker with her smartphone taking a photo of these two as they land in the cemetery next to where the party will be held.
But that click was simultaneously heard with another click--the locking of a door. It turns out it was Crazy Bones Clyde, the scrupulous sextant of the cemetery who was locking up the shed for the night.
"Day's done. Time to wake up and do some spooking," he said absentmindedly.

Remember to look right when crossing the road (in the UK anyway). Especially when listening to music with earphones.
Candid street shot Wellington, Somerset, UK.
"Heaven, Im in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When were out together dancing cheek to cheek
Heaven, Im in heaven
And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gamblers lucky streak
When were out together dancing (swinging) cheek to cheek
..."

Here's what happened: I was a prisoner on Castaway Island--sad and forlorned--when a private Helicopter showed up out of nowhere. This sleek looking Italian guy got out and eyed me head to toe. That wasn't very nice: I already knew I looked and smelled bad. I big-eyed him back.
I couldn't understand his language very well but when he rubbed his fingers together (the international symbol for money) I knew exactly what he meant. The next thing I knew I was in Milan being shoved down a runway for some guy named Gucci. Now that is making lemonade out of lemons! Yesterday's starving look* is today's money making emaciated model look. They promised me burgers after the show...a big platter full, and I doubt if the other models will go near them. They also gave me the gold leather-embossed iPod case that I modeled...and the iPod!
Here's the music I had on the Catwalk: Express Yourself
Oh, and I guess I'm going to be on Make Me A Supermodel next season.
This is one of the most sought after views for photographers in North America. I have been here twice and there has always been a photographer with a tripod setting up a shot. It is a tricky photo to take. One trick is: not to get run over! Also, a telephoto lens will help compress the road to give it a more interesting effect. This photo was taken at: ISO 100, 75mm, f14.

A close up of the wings I made yesterday :) Apart from the fluffy white ones at the top, I picked up all those feathers in the park. I am so pleased with how they came out, and so astounded at how easy it was to make!
I didn't have very long for this photo (half an hour) so it was a very quick job. Hopefully tomorrow me and John, my brother, will go on location!! The weather was beautiful today, so I hope it holds out.
It's my 18th birthday in about two weeks time, yay! So hopefully hopefully hopefully some lighting equipment will be on the cards, just some continuous bulbs or work lights if I'm lucky. Of course, I'd prefer something Aaron shaped :P
Hope everyone is having a lovely day. And thankyou for all the sweet comments yesterday :D and all the time really, people on here are so lovely!!!

try to remember the beautiful summer weeks, I wish you a happy weekend also...
Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh
so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and the grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were young and the callow fellow.
Try to remember and if you remember
then follow
follow.
when life was so tender
When no-one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
When dreams were kept beside your pillow.
My Dr. suggested that I look into this cookbook after my appointment the other day. Still trying to decide if I can fully embrace the idea of paleo.
PS - clearly wardrobe decisions were poor today.
Unusual to see this female mule deer still letting her large fawns nurse this late in the year. They are normally weaned by now.
Perhaps more of a bonding exercise than a nutritional requirement.
The most noticeable differences between white-tailed and mule deer are ear size, tail color, and antler configuration. In many cases, body size is also a key difference. The mule deer's tail is black-tipped, whereas the white-tailed deer's is not. Mule deer antlers are bifurcated; they "fork" as they grow, rather than branching from a single main beam, as is the case with white-taileds.

To send someone to Coventry is an English idiom meaning to deliberately ostracise someone. Typically, this is done by not talking to them, avoiding someone's company, and generally pretending that they no longer exist and turning your back on them. Victims are treated as though they are completely invisible and inaudible. This practice is mostly active in the workplace...!
The origin of the phrase is unknown, although it is quite probable that events in Coventry in the English Civil War in the 1640's play a part. One hypothesis as to its origin is based upon ‘The History of the Rebellion and Civil Wars in England’, by Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon. In this work, Clarendon recounts how Royalist troops that were captured in Birmingham were taken as prisoners to Coventry, which was a Parliamentarian stronghold. These troops were often not received warmly by the locals and completely ignored.
Time to go to my vacation! I hope to see all your beautiful work soon, my friends! Peace and be well!

We've been having afternoon heat showers .. just about every day now. I couldn't help myself, and on my way home I stopped the car and took a few pictures!

I thought so much the other day about why I create and why I feel so compelled to share stories with others. I love hearing different interpretations to inspire my world view. It is exciting for me to try and put as many different meanings into a new work as possible, to find meaning in all things and to work with symbolism.
I went out to shoot by myself, in my favorite shooting spot, and felt wholly at peace while doing it. I thought of so many stories sitting in an underpass with weeds growing all around me. It was quiet and felt safe and it was dark.
To have wings. To lose wings. To use someone else to lift us up. To allow others to help. To demand help. To hurt others to help ourselves.
All of these ideas went into the making of this image, and depending on your world view or state of mind, any of them could equally apply. There was a time when I felt that I couldn’t fly any higher, that I was about to fall. I wished for wings then. There have been times when I needed someone to lift me up, and I found them. There were times when I felt my well being was more important than other living creatures and so I used them to serve me. More and more I try to be like the butterflies, lifting others and myself all the while.
What does the world look like from your point of view? How can you get others to understand that through a visual medium? What symbols are important and present in your life? What do you want the world to understand?

This was taken from the second floor in Fortnum And Mason in London. If you're in the market for a hamper then it's the perfect place to go! Also, they don't seem to mind you walking around taking pictures of the place :-)
I've put together a map of spiral staircases in London. If you look at this Google Map you can see the one's I'm aware of. If you've got any that you know of that aren't on the map and you like them added then send me a Flickr mail with the details and I'll add it.

The area that was to become West Palm Beach was settled in the late 1870s and 1880s by a few hundred settlers who called the vicinity "Lake Worth Country." These settlers were a diverse community from different parts of the United States and the world. They included founding families such at the Potters and the Lainharts, who would go on to become leading members of the business community in the fledgling city. The first white settlers in Palm Beach County lived around Lake Worth, then an enclosed freshwater lake, named for Colonel William Jenkins Worth, who had fought in the Second Seminole War in Florida in 1842. Most settlers engaged in the growing of tropical fruits and vegetables for shipment the north via Lake Worth and the Indian River. By 1890, the U.S. Census counted over 200 people settled along Lake Worth in the vicinity of what would become West Palm Beach. The area at this time also boasted a hotel, the "Cocoanut House", a church, and a post office. The city was platted by Henry Flagler as a community to house the servants working in the two grand hotels on the neighboring island of Palm Beach, across Lake Worth in 1893, coinciding with the arrival of the Florida East Coast railroad. Flagler paid two area settlers, Captain Porter and Louie Hillhouse, a combined sum of $45,000 for the original town site, stretching from Clear Lake to Lake Worth.
On November 5, 1894, 78 people met at the "Calaboose" (the first jail and police station located at Clematis St. and Poinsettia, now Dixie Hwy.) and passed the motion to incorporate the Town of West Palm Beach in what was then Dade County (now Miami-Dade County). This made West Palm Beach the first incorporated municipality in Dade County and in South Florida. The town council quickly addressed the building codes and the tents and shanties were replaced by brick, brick veneer, and stone buildings. The city grew steadily during the 1890s and the first two decades of the 20th century, most residents were engaged in the tourist industry and related services or winter vegetable market and tropical fruit trade. In 1909, Palm Beach County was formed by the Florida State Legislature and West Palm Beach became the county seat. In 1916, a new neo-classical courthouse was opened, which has been painstakingly restored back to its original condition, and is now used as the local history museum.
The city grew rapidly in the 1920s as part of the Florida land boom. The population of West Palm Beach quadrupled from 1920 to 1927, and all kinds of businesses and public services grew along with it. Many of the city's landmark structures and preserved neighborhoods were constructed during this period. Originally, Flagler intended for his Florida East Coast Railway to have its terminus in West Palm, but after the area experienced a deep freeze, he chose to extend the railroad to Miami instead.
The land boom was already faltering when city was devastated by the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane. The Depression years of the 1930s were a quiet time for the area, which saw slight population growth and property values lower than during the 1920s. The city only recovered with the onset of World War II, which saw the construction of Palm Beach Air Force Base, which brought thousands of military personnel to the city. The base was vital to the allied war effort, as it provided an excellent training facility and had unparalleled access to North Africa for a North American city. Also during World War II, German U-Boats sank dozens of merchant ships and oil tankers just off the coast of West Palm Beach. Nearby Palm Beach was under black out conditions to minimize night visibility to German U-boats.
The 1950s saw another boom in population, partly due to the return of many soldiers and airmen who had served in the vicinity during the war. Also, the advent of air conditioning encouraged growth, as year-round living in a tropical climate became more acceptable to northerners. West Palm Beach became the one of the nation's fastest growing metropolitan areas during the 1950s; the city's borders spread west of Military Trail and south to Lake Clarke Shores. However, many of the city's residents still lived within a narrow six-block wide strip from the south to north end. The neighborhoods were strictly segregated between White and African-American populations, a legacy that the city still struggles with today. The primary shopping district remained downtown, centered around Clematis Street.
In the 1960s, Palm Beach County's first enclosed shopping mall, the Palm Beach Mall, and an indoor arena were completed. These projects led to a brief revival for the city, but in the 1970s and 1980s crime continued to be a serious issue and suburban sprawl continued to drain resources and business away from the old downtown area. By the early 1990s there were very high vacancy rates downtown, and serious levels of urban blight.
Since the 1990s, developments such as CityPlace and the preservation and renovation of 1920s architecture in the nightlife hub of Clematis Street have seen a downtown resurgence in the entertainment and shopping district. The city has also placed emphasis on neighborhood development and revitalization, in historic districts such as Northwood, Flamingo Park, and El Cid. Some neighborhoods still struggle with blight and crime, as well as lowered property values caused by the Great Recession, which hit the region particularly hard. Since the recovery, multiple new developments have been completed. The Palm Beach Mall, located at the Interstate 95/Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard interchange became abandoned as downtown revitalized - the very mall that initiated the original abandonment of the downtown. The mall was then redeveloped into the Palm Beach Fashion Outlets in February 2014. A station for All Aboard Florida, a high-speed passenger rail service serving Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando, is under construction as of July 2015.
