Una volta,

aspettavo d'affogare nel luccichio di Serafini al PAC,

e mi s'è parato davanti l'uomo

che amava

la Donna Barbuta.

"He loves the bearded lady she loves the tattooed man

this one he's an acrobat each one of thems damned

Jimmy the pickpocket will take you by the hand

he'll smile at you politely but your purse it will be damned

A whore who works the fair ground her name is Crystal Lil

over there's her boy friend he'll sell you any pill

Gypsy Joe's a Cut throat when he's not out on smack

so if you want your husband killed he their throat will slash

Billy boy the barker he likes to cheat at cards

he's been caught out so many times you can see the scars

The knife throwers got alcohol upon his breath

one day he's going to be so drunk he will cause a death

The gypsies they are dancing, dancing to the moon

and each one in this fair ground each one they are doomed"

The Times Square Transformation is a major capital project with one driving goal: to ensure that Times Square is designed to reflect the bold, cutting-edge spirit that has long-defined the Crossroads of the World while still catering to the needs and capacities of a 21st Century urban space. Beginning in 2012, the City will upgrade the infrastructure below Broadway and 7th Avenue and redesign the Broadway pedestrian plazas, turning what is now painted asphalt into a world-class piazza.

The plans for the Transformation have been designed by Snohetta, with consultation by the Times Square Alliance and the Department of Transportation.

Throughout the construction, the Times Square Alliance will provide real-time updates to Times Square residents, businesses, and other interested parties.

Here are 10 of over 20 mosaics of New Year's Eve revelers on the walls at the Times Square Subway Station in Manhattan.

I stayed in this house in Okinawa which was a big hippyish but in the best way the kids didn't have TV's or video games which is a Japanese stapple we always played with this huge cardboard box. I cropped it and they are both boys.

------------------------------

Times Square is a major commercial intersection in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West 42nd to West 47th Streets. The extended Times Square area, also called the Theatre District, consists of the blocks between Sixth and Eighth Avenues from east to west, and West 40th and West 53rd Streets from south to north, making up the western part of the commercial area of Midtown Manhattan.

Formerly named Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in April 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building, which is now called One Times Square and is the site of the annual ball drop on New Year's Eve. Times Square, nicknamed "The Crossroads of the World" and "The Great White Way," has achieved the status of an iconic world landmark and is a symbol of New York City and the United States.

Happy Veteran's Day to all who served and who continue to serve.

I was lucky during my time in uniform and never got shot at on purpose. Ironically, the two times I deployed to combat zones - once to Iraq, and once to Afghanistan - I was retired from active duty, and I went as part of my job training brigade staffs at the National Training Center. This photo was taken at Forward Operating Base Fenty near Jalabad, Afghanistan in October, 2007.

Happy New Year to Everyone

example of Japanese craftsmanship and artistry which will stand the test of time. All silk, embroidered or hand-painted, one of a kind. Japanese wedding kimono (in Japanese they are called uchikake) are traditionally very colorful in shades of red and other vibrant colors, liberally embroidered with auspicious symbols. This one is royal red lined with gold embroidery.

Uchikake is a highly formal kimono worn only by a bride or at a stage performance. The Uchikake is often heavily brocaded and is supposed to be worn outside the actual kimono and obi, as a sort of coat. One therefore never ties the obi around the uchikake. It is supposed to trail along the floor, this is also why it is heavily padded along the hem. The uchikake of the bridal costume is either white or very colorful often with red as the base color.

The Japanese kimono is the traditional clothing of Japan. It is a long robe with wide sleeves worn as an outer garment. It is complemented by a sash, called "obi", worn around the mid-section of the body. The obi's function is to hold the kimono closed and in place (traditional kimono don't have zippers, buttons, or fasteners of any type, so wearing an obi is very important). The literal translation of the word "kimono" is "a thing to wear".

The Japanese kimono and obi have been the traditional wear in Japan for hundreds of years. Although not used as often today as they were half a century ago (they have been replaced by western-style clothes), they are still widely used for important occasions, such as weddings and special festivals.

But the Japanese kimono and obi are more than clothing. Like most Japanese things, they are an expression of sensitivity, beauty, and, particularly, harmony with one's surroundings. They are also a way of personal expression. It is said that the kimono doesn't "become" until someone wears it. It is the person wearing it that gives the kimono its look, in that person's own way.

Wearing a kimono is an experience everyone should have. It's almost as if the kimono has magic powers that bestow peace and gracefulness upon the person wearing it. The minute you put it on, your view and attitude towards the entire world change. It's a unique experience. Wearing a kimono is as much a state of mind as it is a state of dress.

There are many rules that govern the wear of Japanese kimono and obi. Some two hundred rules were at one time established, dictating such things as the combination of colors. Even today, only certain colors are considered Image of lady wearing a wedding kimono acceptable for certain times of the year, depending on the seasons, for example.

But the purist view, with all its rules, has not proven to be very practical in this day and age and have become a turn off for many people. There is good news, however. There is a new movement, a new drive to re-introduce the kimono as regular wear (not just for special occasions) and part of this drive is making kimono and obi more wearer-friendly as well as having a more relaxed attitude without so many rules.

In addition to traditional clothing, Japanese kimono (particularly wedding kimono) and obi are also popular as home decorating accessories. Their exquisite silk fabrics, beautiful colors, and interesting patterns make them perfect for that purpose. Kimono and obi are hung for display, often creating a dramatic effect. Their fabric is used for cushion covers, patches for jeans, and to make clothing accessories such as belts. They are often framed and displayed as art. Like many ofJapan's traditions, the Japanese kimono and obi developed over time, from practical and utilitarian clothing, to the exquisite works of art we see today. Their long history includes influences from the cultures of China, Korea, India, and others in Southeast Asia.

Caroline Manzo, Dina Manzo and Kim Granatell among stars at first New Jersey Fashion Week

New Jersey's first Fashion Week, although only two days long, with more days planned for next year, took place at the prestigious Pleasantdale Chateau in West Orange, N.J.

Founded by Donnella Tilery, a fashion entrepreneur, and Jack Panico, owner of a chain of hair salons, this event was designed to be hosted by New Jersey, and brought with it a lot of New Jersey flavor. Tickets cost $100 each, raising nearly $20,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Tom Murro, New Jersey's Celebrity Magnet, brought his wife Kelly and the always-interesting Kim Granatell along to the event (Kim G on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey").

Local photographer Manny Carabel was kind enough to take all of the pictures for this report. He even was able to get an extremely rare photo moment featuring Caroline Manzo and Kim Granatell in a photo together. Pulitzer Prize for celebrity news, anyone?

Murro was invited to the show by Mrs. New Jersey 2010 Claire Pavlinec. Her charity, Maternal Wings, is devoted to recycling slightly used baby furniture (cribs, bassinettes, etc) to families in need.

As he hoped, Murro met Dina Manzo, the last "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star on his interview wish list. Manzo was a bit taller than he expected, but as lovely and gracious as the rest of the remaining housewives, according to Murro. Standing next to Caroline Manzo for a photo, Murro was again insistent that we mention that Caroline is as petite and good looking as ever.

While the audience was relieved that none of the "Jersey Shore" members attended, the "Jerseylicious" crew supplied some styling and make up for several of the models. Murro mentioned that model Denisha Rountree truly worked the runway.

Some of the other stars who came included The Spin Crowd's Jonathan Cheban, who is originally from New Jersey, Linda Morand, founder of the Supermodel Hall of Fame, "Dancing With The Stars" Anna Demidova, Mrs. New Jersey 2009, Ceylone Boothe-Grooms and Murro's friend and sometimes on air co-disher Alicia Viterelli from News12 New Jersey.

All of the designers showed their best real clothes for real people. New Jersey Fashion Week Rising Star Designer winner, Kahri Anne Kerr, was heard saying, "It was awesome, dude! Now I can pay my rent."

The crowd loved the event as well. "New York should be jealous," Murro told us, "This was better and simply more fun than any show I've seen in New York."

As Murro told the viewers on News 12, "Great Food, Great Fashion, Great Times."

A photograph of the newest Times Square hustlers. Today several person dressed as Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Elmo etc. run up to little children and entice their parents to take pictures of them with the kids.

Then they shove a bag or in this case a Christmas stocking into the faces of the parents expecting a "tip"

No less that eight of these costumed hustlers were working the corner W44 St. and Broadway.

The Times Theater in Rockford has also been abandoned a long time just like the Midway Theater. It was built in 1938 and is still glamorous with the original one screen stage. There has been recent work to reopen it as a small venue theater
