Most of what's in this tray are waveworn tile fragments I found on a beach in a part of Barcelona that was later made over significantly for the Olympics. I carried them around on my bicycle later in France and Holland until returning home at the end of the summer (early '80s). My mother displayed them in this tray for many years.

Also included is a smallish turquoise tile similar to some that were made for San Simeon, a fossil from the South of France, and a stone spearpoint of unknown origin (therefore limited significance) that came from the home of the prominent geographer, Carl Sauer. I have many personal stories associated with how these items came into my possession.

There are some interesting differences among the Spanish fragments. Some are not tiles at all but pieces of glass or terrazzo.

maybe, use reprocessed waste products

Amy spent 3 days at Beaconsfield working with Nursery through to Year 6 to paint these 'healthy eating' themed tiles. Inspiration came from the balance of good health plate. The 360 tiles will be mounted in the school canteen.

A glimps of the ceiling of the Tiled Hall, between the Central Library and the City Art Gallery in Leeds. It now houses a cafe; I recommend a visit to see it in all its glory.

Car slaesroom in the front section of the former Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramroad Company tram depot, Copse Road, Fleetwood. Saturday 02 June 2012.

Construction of the depot commenced on Tuesday 10 August 1897 and it opened the following year. It was not intended as a running shed but for use as a store for the open crossbench trams, which naturally were mainly used during the summer months. Six tracks each held three trams to give a total capacity of 18, though in later years two tracks were taken out of use, reducing the capacity to 12 trams. The depot closed on 01 October 1963, Fleetwood Box car 40 was towed out by Standard 40 as the last tram to leave the depot.

The building is now the only one of the three Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway Company tram depots still standing. It currently houses a car dealer, the Fleetwood Car Centre.

There were ambitious proposals to open the former tram depot as a tramway museum in 2013. The building is relatively sound although there are signs of subsidence in the right hand front corner and the back wall as well as fire damage to the roof beams. An internal breeze block wall, false ceiling and offices built after the depot closed require being demolished. The cladding at the front of the building requires to be removed to reveal the original frontage and replica depot doors will have to be made. It is very clear that a large sum of money will have to be invested in the project to bring the building back in to shape for it to be successful tourist attraction and this will certainly be a very demanding challenge in these tough economic and difficult times.

The proposed museum scheme failed and the former tram depot has since been demolished.
