There are several Sufi orders in Senegal.
The Xaadir (Qādiriyya) is the oldest and founded in Baghdad by the Sufi mystic Abdul Qādir al-Jilānī in the 12th century, now pan-Islamic, spread to Senegal in the 18th Century.
His portrait is at the far left, with his name in Arabic :

The members of this family probably belong to this Muslim brotherhood.
The most important brotherhoods in Senegal are:
- The Xaadir (Qādiriyya), the oldest, founded in Baghdad by the Sufi mystic Abdul Qādir al-Jilānī in the 12th century, spread to Senegal in the 18th Century.
- The Tijaniyyah, the largest in membership, founded in Fez, Morocco by the Algerian born Cheikh Sīdī 'Aḥmad at-Tijānī.
- The Mourides, the richest and most active, founded by the Islamic leader Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba (1850–1927) of French West Africa, now Senegal.
- The Layene are a smaller Sufi order, centered at Yoff, north of Dakar.
I will try to found out about the other portraits, but I had understood that they were Gilani's son and grandson. ( no, I don't think so)

We are in the old mining town of Derby today, and this abandoned old house is a metaphor for what has happened to the place. But Derby lives on in another form and is thriving in its own way. We'll see that over the next few days. But the old Derby is gone, as has the family that once occupied this house.
One can only speculate on the life that once turned this house into a home. But there is a song that captures something of the spirit in this photograph. It was sung by Dinah Washington (1924-1963) in the 1950s and has been newly arranged with her vocals by Max Richter on his incredible album, "On the Nature of Daylight".

I found this poppy on a sunny walk across the fields with my camera. It's posted in memory of my father.
21st June 2022, sees the 80th anniversary of the fall of Tobruk. My father, a signaller in the artillery, was one of around 30,000 British soldiers captured.
"I had not even thought of myself becoming a prisoner of war and when I realised this it was quite a surprise......I lost several photos and my diary but managed to retain my overcoat, one blanket and my haversack containing washing kit and dixie."
He spent the rest of the war in PoW camps in North Africa, Italy and Germany, and continued to journal his experiences.
He returned home on 25th May 1945 and May 2017 saw his account finally published.
This photograph was taken in July 1980 by the photographer Manuel Litran, for Paris Match. The dogs lying on the road are the 140 abandoned animals that the SPA had to euthanize in just two days at that time.

This rowing boat has obviously been here for some time, it is stuck in the sand and covered in green mossy seaweed
Lily was missing, presumed dead for 6 months. A vet from roughly 40 miles away called one day to tell my son that she had been found - so he went to fetch her. She was fit, and well, well fed with a lovely sleek coat. So many question marks? We wondered if Thea had been a little too rough with her, and she decided to leave, or if she was too curious and found herself inside a travelling van.....
A walk in the park along a little stream. Colorful leaves all over, a little bridge on the background, a very peaceful scene. This is Autumn.

I noticed the the EXIF information has gone missing for our photos ... our pictures no longer have lens, shutter speed, aperture etc. information - just shows the camera used. Anyone know what's up with that? I hope they haven't decided to drop it ... we photographers want to know these things about photos we look at ... sometimes. :)
And now the EXIF data is back ... that's good.
